    One of the best and most detailed videos on the subject of this very common problem! Thank you!

    Anyone who undergoes this project needs to know. The punch tool has to cut thru a hardened epoxy material on vgs 1s. Ive ordered 2 punch tools and they are extremely ineffective against the resin coating the sensor. Its going to take alot of patience and time just to get a minimal amount of success with retrieving a sensor. Both sensors 8n1 and 8n2 are coated generously with the resin on mines so good luck. Im still picking at it 2 weeks later

    I have learned most of the time, the sensors do not go bad. But the plate does.

    My 2010 E350 has a 0748 K1 code. took out the valve body cleaned it and flushed system, cleaned the solenoids, tested the K1 blue cap and the rest for clicking sound and 5.6 resistance, all good, put it back and still get the code and Limp mode also. I noticed the 0748 is not included in the codes for the conductor plate errors.
    So I bought a used valve body and plate had it programmed and it is back on the road perfect running condition

    How you change the output sensor, the one with the magnet ??

  • @markusreiser5837
    @markusreiser5837 Před 2 lety +1

    output speed sensor is always a problem with abs speed sensor or a general trans failure ( maybe wrong trans code (swap) or a different coding) ....dont need to buy a quality soldering iron......

      @@ThompsonAutoTest I really need help with my CL500 2004, its been in limp mode for 8 months I don't know what to do. Some time after I reset the tcm with key and foot on pedal it starts to shift gears on for about 5 minutes and then it goes away, back to limp mode again so I changed the transmission but used the old valve body from the original one back on also they put a used conductor plate from another cl 500 2007 and its still will not shift gears only stays in 1st gear and reverses still in limp mode. Please can you help me or give me some information on what I can do to get my car back shifting gears driving normal again please?

    Ive finally found a video showing someone who knows about Mercedes Transmissions. My son is having an issue with his &g-Tronic Transmission where by when in Drive he cannot nudge the gear lever left and right and use it in manual mode. I know its not specifically related to the speed sensor in your video but can you suggest were we start looking. It comes up with no fault codes when using an ICarSoft DSB2 reader programmed specifically for mercedes. The gearbox is perfect in auto mode its just it has never worked in maniual mode.
    Many thank in advance.

      We use both the MaxiDAS DS808 and the Maxisys Elite which allows us to investigate the systems on many vehicles. The 7G-Tronic 722.9 TCM is controlling the transmission in response to information and commands issued via CAN Bus from various sources in a Mercedes, shift buttons on the steering wheel of many late model Mercedes vehicles allows the driver to select a lower or high gear ratio and then the TCM will take over again if no input from the buttons is present after a period of time. This pdf file provides an excellent description of the 7G-Tronic f01.justanswer.com/73bbchevy/52d5945c-5b37-4c72-9765-f200ee00e793_tips_and_tricks.pdf
      the first place to start looking would be the live data feature of the scan tool for the TCM and any related fault codes dealing with CAN Bus error or missing modules and controllers.

      @@ThompsonAutoTest Thank you so much for your reply. I have bought an IcarSoft diagnostic unit specifically for use on Mercedes and it doesnt indicate any transmiion faults hoever the (+) and (-) switches activated on the gear lever (Its a 2007 car) do not seem to respond with zero response from the (-) and erratic response from the (+). Im going to grab a coffee and digest the file you sent. Thank you so much. Andy

    Could the speed sensor cause an intermittent hard shift only when shifting from 4th to 5th gear? I can't figure out why, sometimes its smooth as butter and sometimes the car will cause a "thump" when shifting. Usually when accellating under higher load, it will linger the rpm when i left off the gas,....and then a delayed shift to 5th.

  • @buddybestor
    @buddybestor Před 2 lety +3

    Hi there! Do you know what would cause a delayed upshift? It only occurs when accelerting briskly and then just letting off the gas...rpms suddenly drop and you feel a thump as it engages the next gear up. Somewhere I read that it was an RPM sensor...is that the same thing here?

    • @Agecatcher

      i would start with a Transmission flush, unless there is fault codes on the TCM

    If you punch a hole through the sensor, is it OK to leave the hole or does it have to be sealed up?

    Hello Thomppson,
    I have the following error codes on my ML 320cdi 7G GEARBOX: 5399, 7223, 7286,5420. Do you have an idea what is my issue? Sometimes the gerabox not changes the ratio. Or on the high speed I feels it drop the ratio and only the Vandler working. I am waiting for yours response. Thank You: Krisztian

    • @ThompsonAutoTest
      @ThompsonAutoTest  Před 4 lety

      5399 Event:CAN signal 'Gear selected' from control unit N15/3 (ETC [EGS] control unit) is implausible.
      We use a MaxiDAS DS808 scan tool that also defines the code and indicates whether it is store or active. The TCM on the 722.9 is known for failure and in this video we are repairing a speed sensor and we do so only if a fault code dealing with the speed sensor is stored. However some units we have successfully repaired and some we break down and just get a new one from Mercedes. If you are the registered owner of your vehicle then you can purchase a replacement and we pay Mercedes to flash the new TCM.

    Hey I have a 2006 clk350 and The connector( I’m talking about the connector that’s attached to the conductor plate shaped in a right angle.)broke off the conductor plate circuit board when I was removing it from the transmission. have you or anyone had any experience reattaching/soldering it back on or is there a way to remove the tcu/tcm and place it on a different conductor plate.
