I hope more people see this message. Jon Stewart is correct in what he's saying. The ability of elected officials to buy stock using inside information is appalling and really needs to end. Martha Stewart went to PRISON for doing that, and our elected officials are doing the same thing every day and reaping profits from it. That needs to END.

Years ago when Jay Leno
was on the air he had a "man in the street" bit. The guy asked people about their opinion of politicians. Every answer was, essentially, "all of them are corrupt...except the one who represents me...they fine.".
And there in essence is the answer & it explains how people like Green & Bobert end up in Congress. Their voters have the same mentality.
Also, they say they're sick of politicians lying, then vote for someone who told 30,000 lies in his term.

Guess he lost respect in all Europe after gaining about $3 billion contribution to their own personal protection from the European Union oooops. And all he did was make them pay their fair share after no one before him has done it.

At 1:22 he says “despite our differences with stewart” what are those differences? I don’t know and I’m curious. Jon makes lots of jokes around serious issues, but also speaks very clear and cogent when being serious. He always seems to have a great perspective on issues.
The Supreme Court has been the single biggest problem with the lack of accountability in this century.
I think another horrible thing was Citizens United which basically legitimized political prostitution. It was going on in dark back alleys forever but now the pols can shake their butts in the window like prostitutes in Amsterdam (if you'll pardon my crude analogy).

The mere fact that the Supreme Court is even entertaining the notion that a President should have absolute immunity for any crime he commits is totally insane.
Supporting such an idea will unlock a Pandora's box of criminal activity everywhere and will trigger a total collapse of law & order across this country.

I'm a Swedish guy who wants to pay tribute to channels like TYT, Meidas, pondering politics, Real American David Pakman and others for the joint resistance movement they are pushing against what in my eyes is false, insane and dangerous. They are. Remember from 2016 through 2020 when he kept saying "I can't release my tax records because I'm currently being audited". The part about not being able to release his tax filings was another lie from Trump. However, the part about him being audited for shady tax returns is true.

There are two ways of acquiring power and getting other peoples money into your pockets. You scare them or you do good things for them. Which is easier? This is what all of this is about.
There used to be an expectation that those elected to represent us, represent our best interests, would serve us ethically and with, to some degree at least, competency. Now, there isn't even an expectation that they won't act corruptly, they won't act against the interests of those who elected them to that job, or even that they won't lie to us or commit crimes while in office. The only expectation is that they will faithfully, consistently bang the drum of "those people are bad, we are good."
The fact is distraction has become a big part of the perspectives that guide our thinking. The popularity of politics of distraction is part of that trend.
If anyone needs to be made an example of by imposing harsh penalties its trump.

It's an old video. It emphasizes financial corruption in government, which, even if true, is not at the root of MAGA appeal. It sort of pushes the idea that Trumpers would be in favor of progressive ideals if we just educated them a bit. Not buying it.

John has ALWAYS been on point. Under Bush Jr, rational people watched The Daily Show to actually get so Blanca of accurate news. His intellect combined with the ability to interact with average Americans is what we need to do bring back what this nation was created to do. I would LOVE to hear his thoughts on the co-opting of the Supreme Court by the Right Wing when it was created to be non-partisan and only interpret Constitutional Law based on that law without bringing personal political subjective beliefs that violate the creation of the three branches of government.
