Compilation of scenes from some 60's beach movies with Wipe Out by The Surfaris. The opening of the video includes Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon.
The craziest laugh in the history of pop music introduces this classic instrumental at 0:36! Ron Wilson's (drums, vocal) energetic drum solo made "Wipe Out" one of the best-remembered instrumental songs of the period. "Wipe Out" is also remembered particularly for its introduction. Before the music starts, Bob Berryhill's (rhythm guitar) dad broke a board (imitating a breaking surf board) near the mic, followed by a maniacal laugh and the words "Wipe Out" spoken by band manager Dale Smallin. Issued in Jan. 1963, hitting #2 on the pop chart, selling over 1 million copies and earning a gold disc.
WOW! I've never seen such beautiful women. I find women from the 60's extremely beautiful, stunning, and natural. Today's models don't come close to looking as beautiful as the ones on this video.
That_Ford_Guy, maybe that's why the huge boom and attraction of California was so great for so many (esp. men) in those days! But not any more, with California not a good state for business and they are leaving in droves for a better business climate.
Just add fine copper wire an kite and fly in spring wheat field, When wire breaks and drifts into power line, The show is on. Poor old cows never saw it coming
On this day in 1965 {May 8th} the Surfaris performed "Wipe Out" on the syndicated television program 'Hollywood A G-Go'... Two years earlier on June 22nd, 1963 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #2 {for 1 week} and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100... The record's B-side, Surfer Joe", also charted, it reached #62... And three years later on July 30th, 1966 "Wipe Out" re-entered the Top 100 and this time it peaked at #16 and spent 14 weeks on the Top 100...
Hi Freeguy77, she was a bit older than me. Unknown to me at the time, I was watching reruns of MMC on TV, then when "grew" into more mature roles in full feature Disney movies and Bill Asher "Beach Movies". But I must agree with you, Mary Tyler Moore was just as lovely in the "Dick Van Dyke Show" along with Elizabeth Montgomery (a bit later) in "Bewitched". Those were the days of traditional American family values which were fostered by the television programming of the days (as opposed to shows like "Wives of Atlanta, Jerry Springer, Rivera & company) Peace be with you, Ciao, L
This is One of My Favourite Songs from 1963 as the Music in this Year was just so Magical time around then and Plus you would love to dance this song even when you want
Always loved Annette and Catherine Deneuve, I think they had the same birthday but not the same year. I am 66 years old, a Vietnam veteran. Years ago I recorded a song"Mary Lou by The Creative Force " I recently put it on Utube. If you like it, please give me a thumbs up.👍🏻 Thanks
I feel ya! Back then the only guys that had tattoos were sailors, ex cons and bikers. The only women that had them were biker chicks, and then it was only a rose tattoo on her back or boob! Now suburban housewives have them! Man how times have changed
I'll never get tired of people saying "wow people were so much hotter in x than they are now"... while comparing movie stars to everyday people. Lordy loo! Excellent editing on this. Such a fun music video you've put together. :) Great for summer workouts!
Gerald and Qrayon, good points! Now, every girl has a tattoo somewhere. Uggggggg! This is what "feminism" has done for women, so now they can be equally ugly, or equally dying or hideously wounded in the military in dumb wars overseas.

Hello Kathy, How are you doing?
I see rib cages! I never thought I’d see them again on the beach.
WOW! I've never seen such beautiful women. I find women from the 60's extremely beautiful, stunning, and natural. Today's models don't come close to looking as beautiful as the ones on this video.
+Junior Lopez The main difference: No ugly breast implants. Just their gorgeous natural bodies.
+Susan A. I couldn't agree with you more Susan
+Junior Lopez Mee Too!

What struck me is how racy some of those scenes were. Just plant the camera at crotch level and film away!
Hard to believe all those bikini babes are over 70 years old now.
+juan galt Been fun run quick too
+juan galt Can you imagine them now if they tattooed their lower back? yuck
jgstargazer Yeah. At least I'll be dead when all the "tattooed" generations are old, fat and wrinkled.
+juan galt Did I mention that since I switched to Dentu Crème, I've got a more confident smile?
still bang if they could move like that.
I haven’t heard this song for ages…. 2024 😊
The best song by The Surfaris.
