  • We love our HDT, but she's getting older and some of her original parts are wearing out. In this episode, Bubba replaces the air compressor, which he discovered was going out shortly after we arrived in Arkansas. Bubba takes you through an overview of how he removed the old one, prepping the new one for installation, and describing (and showing) how he got the new one installed.
    Join us as we provide ongoing maintenance to keep our HDT and RV on the road!

    I like the caveat “I’m not a mechanic”. That’s a big job for a shade tree wrench, but nothing time and toothpicks can’t cure.👍👍

    When I do something, it’s several trips to hardware store, let alone garage. Good Job, well done for not being a mechanic.

      @@TipsyMarlinTravels Thank you. Was born and raised on a farm in the 4 corners area of Bozeman. Brothers still own it. We bought 800 acres just 1 mile west of there. Brothers will farm it; we just wanted the house and buildings. I moved to Phoenix in the late 70's and started a historical renovation business. Worked all over tha USA. Have worn out 4 class A's. Have many miles under my belt but have seen nothing except job sites. We pick up our new bus in Florida around the 10'th of June and hope to be back in MT first of July. Unfortunatly we have to stay in MT for 6 straight months to get our residency back. All in all though not a bad place to be. We plan to travel at probably the same rate as we have for the last years. Around 200 day's a year. Would love to meet you

    For as big as the engines are in these things, sometimes the amount of stuff you have to remove just to get access never ceases to amaze me. What were some of the symptoms that led you to replace the compressor? Slow to build air? Noise from the compressor? You saved yourself a chunk of change with shop rates running 120-160 an hr these days. Nice job!

    • @TipsyMarlinTravels
      @TipsyMarlinTravels  Před 3 lety

      The compressor was making a loud clanging or thumping noise. Sounded like an engine throwing a rod, which is what led us to replace it. It was the original, soooo, almost 17 years old. It's amazing just how expensive shop rates are these days. We figure every dollar we save there buys us more fun on the road 😁
