You know, the point of Nuzlockes have been cast into the void. These weren't originally supposed to be just a challenge to an easy game series, it was originally meant to be a narrative that you grow attached to your pokemon, where each and everyone had personality. There was always supposed to be a weight with each death. That's the origin of Nuzlocking, and these friendlockes encapsulate that completely.

Fun Fact: Out of all the “first full party members” of this playthrough (Jay/Wigglytuff, Joe/Lampent, Mal/Lopunny, Pastey/Ninetales, Churmey/Wormadam, Gabi/Cherrim, and Claire/Manectric if you don’t count Churmey), Pastey was the only one to survive all the way to the end here. (Poor Jay almost made it)

I absolutely adore the fact that there’s an entire portion of the credits dedicated to Pete’s cutaway gags. It could’ve just been blended with animators and writers but it’s awesome that there’s a whole section for the gags.

My first randomized game, I got registeel in the one game he gets pound as level 5 instead of just explosion
Decided to rewatch this today and goddamn. I remembered it was good but it was way better than I remembered. Claire got ripped away too soon, she had so much potential, especially with Sara but I'm glad Sara got to live to the end and carry Claire's memory. Mal will never not make me sad, she never got to pick up her kids 😢😢 Pete hanging out with them at the end made me legit tear up

Hearing Pete’s “Put me in.” towards the end almost made me tear up. The image of that dork staring down a raging Hydriegon to buy his friends time, and then surviving the whole thing is the stuff of legend.
Like the old man in a group making sure the young one's in a party get the time they need to pull out a win.
I swear Cradily is always a memorable and useful pokemon to use in nuzlockes, those guys are oddly very bulky and able to stall.

Pete Ness was the most amazing character of all time, he was not only all about the grind, he did care for his companions, and when they needed him most (Vs. Spoiler warning.
Coach Coz was a tortured soul beneath their gym bro persona. She put forward energy at any opportunity she could, but in the moments they couldn't, they were very cynical to the world. A crack in their facade. She put her entire purpose into becoming stronger, but after evolving a final time, she realized there wasn't much farther she could go. The death of Bradydood hit her hard. It was the first death she witnessed, and it left its mark on her. Bradydood died with purpose. saving those he cared about. She then witnessed Callin and Onee die without purpose, only for Pete to joke about it immediately. Something snapped in her. When it was time to fight the Elite Four, she believed she wouldn't be much use, and decided to go out with her own purpose. To push herself to the very limit with an impossible task, going in alone, with only Salty to witness her final shining moments.
Rest in peace, Coach Coz, you were a real one.
That and her only momento of her aunt was destroyed by Gerber

You know, I realize now that Season 2 is basically a perfect continuation to the Friendlocke. It continued and expanded upon the story of Season 1, all the while raising the stakes and adding more of what we love. Fingers crossed Season 3 is just as good, if not better.

I mean, sure, it's not a continuation, but I think it's still enjoyable so far.
Friendlocke season 2 is the Explorers of Sky to Friendlocke season 1's Red/Blue rescue team.
I usually don't like randomizer nuzlockes but I hope season 3 is a randomizer again like this one, it added so much to the chaos
I would love randomisers so much more if it was like this and less:
“I found/got a legendary early game and spent the entire game just using it, and there’s a legendary in every second route and nearly every trainer has one.”
I found randomisers really cool when the game is shaken up but they can still strategise and use their game knowledge. It’s fun when they come up with something smart, and funnier (even though also infuriating) when they do dumb shit.
@@SNK_LRD I think the best way to do it is either remove legendaries from the randomizer entirely, or just significantly reduce the odds of encountering one compared to normal Pokemon so that you can still have some chaotic fun with it without basically ruining the strategy/tension in the gameplay
Luckily it seems like Salty was fully aware of that and not only set the starter randomization to only include the beginning of three-step evolution lines, but also excluded legendaries from the wild Pokémon randomization. I’m assuming he had the legendaries randomized within themselves, hence why he ended up with Giratina instead of the White Dragon-type.
I mean if the trend continues, next season of the friendlocke will be in alola. Derrick is just trying to move there in order to escape the trauma of the gym system, only to be suckered into the island challenge by kukui and hau. Personally I think if that’s what ends up happening, randomizing types could also work if Derrick wants it.

I'm like 99% positive that that's the case, with Sara and Claire getting together at the end
Currently at the point that Claire died: Sara did ask what the Manectric’s name was so I think they were planning something
I think that Claire (the Pokemon) was released as a result of the Team Plasma propaganda speeches.
Evidence includes:
>The general vibe of needing to prove herself worthy in terms of power (so she doesn't end up released again)
>She said "He doesn't know what he's talking about" in regards to Ghetsis' final words before leaving Castelia

I hoped that also included character development for Sara because she seemed pretty much the same stale whiny character the whole way through, no backbone at all.
Someone probably pointed it out already, but the fact that the first TPK was caused by a palpitoad and the second one was caused by a seismitoad is just incredible to me
the rock gym incident felt like one of those moments when in a show the writers just want to get rid of all the likable cast for shock value and replace them with new people who just don't feel the same.

It's like when they do a sequel series but choose to kill everyone off to replace them with the kid heroes that have been training in the B-plot that 'everyone loves'
I regret not watching this sooner. This whole journey is... Something. It was fun at first, but after the first team wipe everything became more serious. And I absolutely loved it. The characters are SO GOOD I can't express how much I love each of them. Everyone added something to the story. And the credits art and animation just killed me.

I know Mikey Deez's death is sorta played off for laughs but he only didn't use high jump kick, a move that he KNEW would work and be a crit, just for the sake of avenging Joe's death and when hit with the reality that the flaming kick didn't work the first time he tries again just to seek vengeance for Joe resulting him dying without getting that closure. And that's really, really sad

“The Art of Not Giving In” playing over the first Clay wipe still makes me emotional. I don’t expect Season 4 to be nearly as elaborate as Season 2 since it seemed like it took a lot out of Salty to make Season 2 what it was. But at the same time, I’m preparing myself for at least one moment like that in Season 4 if only because it’s going to be a completely blind run.

this entire season is just an absolute masterpiece, i didn’t actually expect to get seriously attached to everybodys characters and dynamics again but after that brutal Clay team wipe i was actually devastated. Mad respect for you Salty and massive appreciation for all your friends for making it as enjoyable as it was
voice acting legend Dana Snyder showing up to voice the legendary catch… only to almost immediately get 1 shot by a dragon is comedy gold

That is just too adorable.
I doubt many will see this, but Pete's change in mentallity came out of nowhere for most, but it was subtly happening. The thing that tilt it into it was the wipe at the end and the time they told him it wasnt the time. He tried to evade the present by acting like its the past experience that some of them he didnt experience and lied just to evade it. And at the end, he knew he might not have a chance to survive through the finale, but still took a risk to save a fellow ally that was realtively nice to him compared to the trainer, and he was fine with dying then and there. That there, is good character devolopment.

This is the type of content I love most.
It's like a DnD campaign, where it's just friends having fun with one another, but eventually they all mold a character and tell a story seriously whether they meant to or not from the start.
Not to mention how this was literally structured like a shounen to some extent.
The start being all comedic and happy, before slowly it got more and more serious as time went on and deaths accumulated.
Seriously, Salty, you're incredible and so are your friends. Keep doing stuff like this.

I love how Mikey, spoilers alerts, went from being the most loved character, a cofindent badass, to the most hated character, a depressed accidental murderer.
Damn, the supercut is the length of a single stream. Though it took me a couple weeks, I'm glad I caught up on the manga before the final highlight episode. It helped me feel a lot more connected to everyone participating and I just might watch it all again after school is finished this semester.

God I adore this so much. It retains a hilarious sense of dumb gags, dispersed between moments of genuine character and emotion. Pete Ness is for sure my favorite; I love his arc throughout, and I almost teared up seeing him having adopted Mal's children in the credits. I had to pause several times throughout the video to react to what was going on. Can't wait for season three!

God, seeing the Igglybuff just watch behind Derek and Co. as it trailed behind them before vanishing upon reaching Los Platos in the first episode of S3 (the real one) genuinely fucked me up inside.

Pete Ness is by far has the best development. Pete became a Anime protagonist, his whole Character arc came around when he said "Put me in" against that Hydreigon. He took leadership amongst his other pokemon pals. Pete you are a Champion, a Legend to always be remembered.

Watching the whole thing again, I realize how many close calls everyone had, specially sara, i`m happy for the final 6 who make it till the end!
I keep watching the last two seasons over and over while waiting for the 3rd season to come out (I'm not a huge stream binger. I hop in now and then but it can be too boring for me)
And I can honestly say this is probably my favorite of the two. Like I like the last one a lot more in terms of comedic value but this Season never fails to make me feel emotions. I love how everyone has their own character, with their own arcs (even if they werent able to be fulfilled). And all the animation and all the chat gags just make it so charming and so fun.
The trailer at the end too almost makes me cry every time. I'm tempted to have any of those moments in it as my wallpaper.
All your friends are so fun and are great voice actors.
I just love this series. And I want to do a Friendlocke myself someday. I can't wait for season 3 ❤
