Urushi means the natural lacquer. It is only dried in a specific temperature/humidity circumstance. It won't fail as easily as enameling, but it may take more time and manpower to make.
Considering how expensive Urushi pens are, that's not a bad price for an urushi dial watch with a 6R15. I wouldn't exactly say affordable but it could've easily been much worse. Looks good, too.
Wow I never thought I would have called a thousand dollar watch cheap but that's super affordable for what you get with that beautiful peice. I'm gonna get one very soon
Rob, thanks so much for your review on this watch. I just bought it from Seiya Japan and received it yesterday. Amazing size, case polishing, Urushi black dial and genuine black Alligator/leather strap. Love it. 😊 Edited, I also bought the beautiful bracelet for it too!
Nice watch but for me I much prefer the Seiko Presage SRPC79J1 Presage - Zen Garden Watch which I think is a more atractive piece and much less. Then you also have the SSA379J1 with a 24 hr sub dial and open heart which is stunning, both more engaging than the SARX029, nice though it is. But that's what's great about watches, we all have our own likes and views!
This is basically the SARX035 with a different dial. It seems to be the exact same case shape and it uses the same bracelet, of course. I much prefer the 035.
No the presage bracelet is different on the Seiko SARX035 which uses a bracelet code of MOPF111J0 and is more angular. This presage bracelet for Seiko SARX029 and others uses a bracelet code of MOPF221J0 and is more rounded. Your welcome 😊
Affordable-ish... I really like the seconds hand with the crescent moon. And that face is something else! Very nice Seikp. Im still stuck on wanting to pick up the sarb035 just can't pull the trigger and that one is only 400$ lmao.
Another superior review. I jumped on this watch, ordered one. Very surprised they are still available new. Thank you Rob, I always learn something new from listening to your perspective. 😊😊😊
does anybody have any idea on which Presage bracelet was used for this mod? I'd love to have the option to transform from dress watch to something less formal. There are a lot of presage steel bracelet models out there though...
What are your thoughts on the seiko SARW035/SPB045. Its the white enamel dial and im seriously considering getting the sarw035/spb045 or the baby grand snowflake. Its a really tough decision to make. thoughts?
I find it funny, out of 7 watches, nothing over 2500 cost, my SRPC17 White carved dial -300$ Seiko Automatic is prob my FAV. I believe this shares the same case... Edit: The case and bracelet are very similar
It does look similar, but I'd have to say they're different cases. The lugs are different from what I can see (longer, beveled on both inner and outer "length" of the lugs) and the bezel appears different (IIRC, the SRPC17 has a more rounded bezel).
@@reshmaj2002 Sorry, Skippy!! I should have been more specific for ya special folk, but I am glad i gave you something to do! Thanks for pointing that out...
It doesn't look bad, but $850 for a Seiko with junk-ish 6R15? That's not even funny. $400, maybe, if someone wouldn't mind buying a watch with movement which most likely will fail after about a year.
I'm guessing you aren't familiar with Seiko of you think it will stop working in a year, or a decade.. Its not a Swiss case queen.. It will be around for a long while
@Randolph Cirilo I'm pretty familiar with Seiko, at the moment I've got nineteen Seikos in my collection. Six of them are powered by 6R15. I believe this is one of the worst movements they've ever made, I learned it hard way. I love the design of their watches, but man...
Never thought I'd lust after a Seiko dress watch! But this is exceptional! 😍
I was shopping for a Brellum, until I saw this
Urushi actually refers to the lacquer finish of the dial. I don't know if there's enamel under it, but the top layer is lacquer.
Ugh. Your right. Not sure why I had enamel in my mind.
@@RandomRobReviews The white version is enamel, probably why. (not the new porcelain dial)

@@RandomRobReviews probably because Seiko frequently releases enamel dials of similar watches when they release an urushi dial.

Urushi pens are much more difficult to make if you consider the surface area and the shape you will need to apply the urushi and polish.
The black strap is Beautiful!!

Hi! I just ordered one from Sakura . They still have them new and in stock. Hope this helps. PS: You certainly have good taste in watches! 😊😊🤡

Wow, it looks awesome and even better on the leather strap
I love this watch! The little crescent moon is so unique and makes me like it even more
I agree really a great looking dress watch!!!
That’s absolutely beautiful.
Whoa buddy. Love that dial! I'd put it back on a leather strap, but that thing is beautiful.
Dude that thing POPS with the black band. Rad.
😲🖤🖤🖤 that's a stunning watch thanks for sharing Rob...👌🏽👍🏼👍🏼

Very nice watch. With the bracelet it definitely dresses down also.

That looks sharp on the bracelet.

where did you find it?
Simply stunning ! especially on the leather strap.
I agree with you 100% the Black Strap looks much better then the bracelet.
Really nice watch. This would compete with the Ball Fireman Enterprise. I think I would take the Ball witb those tritium tubes.
The sarx035 still has my preference aesthetically speaking. If only this had the same looks on this dial!
I just got the SARW013 as my first watch. Damn! The dial!!!!
Wetnoodle me too! 😉
Currently debating between the w013 and this one lol
What a great contrast on the black enamel. That leather strap looks awesome.
What's that square g you have in the back?
Much prefer the Sarb033 and its cheaper.. Guess the dial is the why the cost
Big fan of this watch. Thanks for another great video Rob!
Competitive Option: seiko SARB033 with Sapphire/6R15 and LUME selling for $395. on amazon. No lacquer though. . .
does anybody have any idea on which Presage bracelet was used for this mod? I'd love to have the option to transform from dress watch to something less formal. There are a lot of presage steel bracelet models out there though...
Yes, the strap is real alligator and the underneath is lined in calfskin.
I love this watch dial
Excuse me, I want to ask, the minute hand and second hand of this seiko made by Maki-e technique (use Gold Powder) or just gold color?, Thank you
Please sent the link for the bracelet thx
is the urushi on different level compared to the sarb033?
so just put in presage bracelet? its universal?
Rob, which looks better? The blue shippo or this black urushi?
Nice watch if you like roman numerals and printed dials which I do not.

No apologies needed there, chump! Always glad to help.
Hi mate, what is the band model number? Where can i buy it ?
A piece of art...not so much a watch 😄
Damn I bought a presage bracelet and it didn't fit. 😭 Bought it from Europe so it's not worth paying return shipping
Ok habibi
Grand seiko muhteşem MY 👍
That's a ton of cash? Or am I tight?
Omg.. Yeah on strap..that bracelet made it look cheap.. So much better on the strap.. But 40 mm.. Nope!
"we all do it" ... me wondering who is "WE"?
Wow!
Helo
Classic.

@@vwlukas 90 Seikos ?????? You must love this brand !
CS Foong oops, I meant I have nineteen, ninety would me definitely too many :)
Lacquer dials aren't cheap. They usually feature in watches at much higher price points.
Nope.
