- Building a kayak! From scratch!
This is my second attempt at designing and building a wood-strip/ composite kayak. The first build went great- the kayak paddles wonderfully, I learned a ton from building it, and then decided that I could make some improvements to the design and build process to create a second kayak... Because why not?
For the second I filmed the majority of the build, and decided to take all the footage I have of the process and divide it into a series of 10 (+/-) minute videos... starting with setting up the workshop!
In this first episode, there's a bit of prep work that has to take place before I can start building the kayak:
- Little bit on the why build a second?/ Design changes made from the first
- Setting up the workspace
- Prepping the forms
- Setting up the forms on the workbench
Next up in the series- stripping!

Was a wood shop teacher for 35 years. Really appreciate the effort to this project. I have a great set of plans. Just no room to build it at my house. Really like your band saw jig. Saves a huge amount of wood loss. Even with a kerfless circular blade. Keep up the great videos.

Slowly working on that! Making a few small changes, and hopefully plans for 3 different sizes. Likely a new year's project!
