I fear no cosmetics more then someone who's actually made their own coherent outfit out of a multitude of different sets, they tend to be good at the game without feeling the need to show off.
I'm the outlier here, I just like playing dress up.
Me too. Ashen Curse for the win!
Absolutely agree! Both from experience and POV! :)
I use skeleton curse, but because I like skeleton, not to show off.
Same here. Made my outfit using parts of the forsaken ashes, grimmer jacket, mercenary pieces, and ashen dragon pieces.
Completely unique and I’ve not seen one person replicate it
I personally don’t attack people unless they attack me mainly with sailors and swabies and due to that I have had some really wholesome experiences and probably made some people stick with the game
Same here
Must be boring playing that way is it not?
Same with me. I am just fine with you doing your thing as long as you let me do my thing. The second you start shooting at me your dead or I am but we are no longer friends anymore and they will not be fixable
@@seanbedel7694 You think having wholesome experiences sounds boring? That's a depressing outlook
@@cptlatham6126 Zero pvp is boring
the more homeless someone is, the better of a pirate they are.
The fisherman who doesn’t look like a swabie. That’s scary
Indeed, we attacked a fisherman who was a vet, it was pretty scary
We just want to finish the game commendations! Just think how sweaty that statement is!
@@bessljo may god have mercy, because they won’t have any
I raise you, and give you the fisherman that looks like a cursed swabbie.
I like to dive into hourglass dressed as a banana-hat wearing seahobo with legendary hunter of the sea of thieves title, while rocking stock shipset except fate of fortune figurehead, and the sunken corral (the ones that take up half the screen) cannons.
The kind of ship a beginner looks at and thinks 'what a noob, i can take him on.' While an experienced one would consider a concern at second glance, and one that a seasoned sailor looks at, and weeps in confused panic.
Still have some servant hg to grind out, but just about maxed out the psychological warfare skill tree.
I'll say this, most ghost and skele curse users tend to overestimate their skill and go into fights that they CANNOT win. I've had an experience with a verdant bone buckethead skeleton doing a solo galley, trying to sink me and my buddy on a sloop while we were doing a fort of fortune, and everytime we killed him he called cheats and aimbot. (that was before season 9) My guy couldn't hit the broadside of a barn even if he tried. Wanna know the worst thing? He came for us like 6 times in a row. The guy was relentlessly trying to kill us. and once we completed the fort and got all the stuff, he funny launched onto our boat (we didnt hear the cannons) and started spouting racial slurs.
Average sot player
I always say that I'm decent at best and I hit 77 servants
I personally rock the ashen curse because of the story i made for myself as a pirate. My first ever voyage was into the devil’s roar, so wearing that curse is like paying homage to my first hours playing the game and exploring the world. It may make me look like a noob, but it makes me happy 🤷🏼♂️
I wear the full Ashen set because it just looks good and I don’t care about pvp enough to make my pirate suitable for combat
@@TheAshenDragonI also really enjoy the ashen set but don’t let it feel you I’m far from a green sailor and will sink those who try to fool with me quickly cosmetics don’t really mean anything about one’s skill some of the worst players I’ve come against have had some very cool sets
I personally hate the ashen curse due to my annoyence at the grind I did to get it
if you're wearing it for nostalgia, I ain't gonna have a problem with that
The most intimidating cosmetics are the sails of cursed bone. Truly shiver my timbers in hourglass.
Or sails of gilded age, even scarier
or sailor title
@@the8thdeadlysin410 they just look good
@@Happs99Gives me nam flashbacks every time I see a sailor
It took me 5 or 6 years to get Pirate Legend because i prefer to have fun, but when i actually sat down and did it, it took 2 days
thank you someone who gets it, im playing to be a pirate and have fun with other pirates not to kill everyone i see, pirate legend doesnt make you good at the game
I had missed out on the legendary eyes curse so to me having to earn it feels great as I had to work hard to earn it. Feels more like an achievement getting level 105 especially when I don’t play as often as I used to
Same, that's the only curse I really care for (still don't have it though), and HG is a pain nowadays with all the cheaters and DG sweats around. But when I get it, it will probably be the hardest obtainable curse for me at this point lol!
@@kriseightyfive5854 agreed especially as you have to get 5 levels more so on top of the blessing you get a technically harder to obtain curse. Us who grind hourglass to get it do get to flex it as we trudged through hell to get it. Currently only level 36 in guardians. I’m in no rush as I burnt myself out on community weekend lol
@@kriseightyfive5854my thoughts exactly I usually run HG with my buds but even me and my sweatiest mat have trouble with them hacking wanks, for an experienced player you can definitely snuff out the cheats no doubt.
Just play on Xbox servers I have been playing SoT for 4.5 years and not once ever encountered a cheater. Perks to having a console
You can easily get it on a double XP weekend bud.
All the loss farmers are getting the skeleton and ghost curses now, I saw someone on a sloop with skeleton curse and calling him bad would be an understatement I'm amazed he knew his left from right
I met a dice roll skeleton in December during season 8
Can vouch. I am a terrible pirate but I have acquired the curse through a mixture of genuine victories and dice rolls. I did start improving as I worked up towards 100, but after about the 115-120 point I started slacking, and now I'm plain putrid at the game again XD
There’s now a hierarchy within the curses though. Basic looking Shelly’s or glow sticks aren’t scary anymore.
There’s certain cosmetics that the loss farmers will never have though. Verdant bones is one of them. You see those or golden bones, you run. You’re prey to that pirate.
@@Momofukudoodoowindu golden curse pirate aren't a big deal imo, faced a couple crews with the curse and wiped the floor with them
@@kingoknighty I got the green bones can’t be loss farmed have to get to at least level 100 before that grind even begins then it’s 50 4 streaks no one who has the green bones is a bad player someone may be better but they are not bad by that point I also play with tons of former nal and current LBH players and can say for a fact pretty much everyone with the gold skelly or ghost curse will beat nearly everyone in the game hardly nobody loss farms those it’s to much of a grind I have seen tons of people saying gold doesn’t mean anything but have yet to see a bot who has it they may lose everyone does but they are by no means bad
I always use the reaper costume when queing for pvp. Because the psychological effect of them being a "noob" item can make people underestimatee
If they ever make a skeleton version of the reaper outfit, im very curious to see what kind of reputation it gains. Since you will need the skelly curse to get it.
Also i very much am an outlier, im medium skill at pvp on a good day, but i have gold hoarder curse and skelly curse. I didnt get them with skill, i got them with perseverance. I will have the gold bones like 2 years from now cause ill just keep playing till i get it for the sake of fashion
Either someone duplicated your character a few months back, or our crew ran into you at Reapers. Your character brought us a chest of rage, and we left. We assumed it was the deal since the ship was positioned in a way that it was over lol. I have it recorded on my pc, would love to find out if you recall it or if it was you. I had gamer tags off on hud.
to note insiders also help Rare in finding bugs and other issues before it is release, the rewards are a nice gift to basically assisting in finding something they may had missed
Maxed level on everything (including Athena and Hunters Call), have every curse in the game, now I just look for new ways to interact with people. I like to help new people, but more than that I love to disguise myself as a crab-lord swabbie. People think I'm a hatchling at the game and usually attack since they figure it's easy pickings... Lots of fun to turn things around and begin mollywhopping them ;)
So you have gold skeleton curse and gold ghost curse ???
I worked in reverse, I did nearly all commendations prior to the tall tales… Already had my Athena’s Blessing curse prior to finishing the final 3 tales.
OG from the Alpha days here, still got my controller for the Ferryman outfit too! Only recently picked the game back up since guilds got introduced! Loving playing it again and seeing how far its come!
I rock the dark warsmith ship and costume because I like the deep red and dark gold, but also use the gold hoarder jacket often because it's a pretty good jacket.
As a solo player alone in my guild, I fear everything. But then, so far there has been no kindness, compassion or mercy, even under alliance.
This may be the worst ever. You can’t just say every outfit is 50/50 on the player being good
I think u missed the most fearful...
The Merchants...
I like to sport basic stuff, sailor jacket, whatever hat that I like that day and little hints that ive been around forever; Hungering one scar, day one eye patch and maybe the subtle black dog belt. Its funny you said "They care more about the fashion, lol yeah it do be like that. But I have the black dog and ferryman folded nicely in my clothing chest as well as some other treasures ill show off every now and then.
As someone who uses the sunken sorrows curse I feel called out lol tho now i use blunder a decent amount but used to only use sword sniper
I absolutely loved this list. The only thing I would have included you didn’t was the funny blue hat and gloves. I’d say that those are both coin flips with the gloves being a bit more prestigious
This list is ok but just remember that most players can have most cosmetics and still have varying skill level
Great video!!
What do u think of gold hoarder jacket?
Is it that hard to get cause I've rocked this for a while and love the aesthetic.
we need a video about sweaty cosmetics. like da sails for more vision, kraken eye of reach for better screen vision, sailor cannons, etc..
Usually the only time I see reaper pj's is when I'm solo slooping they usually leave you alone if you're in anything bigger
You know what is scary?
A fisherman sloop with the orca set and Merchant Galeon in alliance. That looked like a overprotective hippo mother with her baby. Bro they deleted us.
Yeah I use the merrick tattoo, scars and the Shark Slayer title and the drums too. Sometimes the blue Meg figurehead combined with the day one eyepatch and goldcurse. And I wear the Black Sea Dog set including the Midnight Blunderbuss and rest of the set. Ah and sometimes the year one stuff (the Sails are so bright :D). Would be interesting where this stuff is on your list :D
@@legendaryoutlaw3534 Shits Himself seeing the NAL and SOC sails.*
@@postaldudesniper6553 haha yeah i would i think but they are so rare never saw a ship with one of those sails but i saw a sloop with the black Reaper sails but this guy was very chilled :)
@@legendaryoutlaw3534 Those kind of people are nice.
I literally just like dressing cool lol. I have a admiral looking set, a regular pirate set, a dressed down set and a really dressed down set. I do rock the hungering deep tattoos at all times tho
I miss where you had to actually go to the devils roar to obtain the ashen set
My list is a mix of the legendary set with the Rose set because the purple kinda compliments the red and white so it fits well dress up for pirates is fun!
I just like dressing up as my own pirate and roll play. I love the kraken curse because you look like your part of a heavy metal band
I played way back in the day. I didn't really get into the game but I have some old gear from back then. I remember when masts couldn't be shot down or when the only food choice was the banana. It was never the pvp that drove me away. I just never got into the game until more recently.
A few days ago a was playing the pvp mode and sank a dude who had the golden ghost curse, he was stacking emissary flags and had over 20 of just the reaper lvl 5 emissary flags, thank the lord he was a solo 💀
Sunken sorrow curse : expect a sword
I feel so called out. I have never not had a sword 😂
Verdant bones enjoyer here. So little of the community even understands what the skelly curse is, let alone what verdant bones signify 😞
I feel ya. I was sailing around wearing skelly curse and found a gally full of noobs. When I tried to be friendly, two of them boarded and tried to attack me. All I did was hold block (cuz they were noobs) and they called me a really bad fighter. All while I was wearing the skelly curse after sinking 150 ships
I've seen emporium pirates completely wreck people with out cheats they just think the stuff looks cool
Calcified is a cool way of describing someone with the bone curse, but for the record ossified is just a cooler and more correct word.
I have the hungering deep stuff, but ive been playing barely off and on since then. So you dont always have to worry about people with hungering deep stuff.
I'm personnally rocking the Day One eye patch, with First year athena sword and Launch Crew Sniper
Can't get any older than that
"The Reaper costume has to be the first thing any player will spend their gold on"
*me who spent my first gold on the Admiral cosmetics*
U forgot the female pirates that don’t wear anything but a shirt
as a sunken sorrow pirate, lmao m1 spamming after an eye of reach shot is so accurate
Ain’t gonna lie it may be nooby but I rock all the ashen dragon stuff because it by far looks the coolest and no amount of experience gonna make me ever change my mind
I just wear stuff that makes me look like a pirate from potc because it makes me feel cool
I never feel like I’m that good at pvp, but then I’ll have a few hourglass matches that make me feel like I can take down a galleon by myself
A good day when AShinyRay uploads!
I run the Reapers fit cause it’s the only way to represent them being a month into the game lol, only 20 more allegiance for my curse tho
I have both skelly and ghost curse. Over level 300 in servants.. That glowing unicorn sail makes me tremble upon surfacing!
As a skelle curse owner who preffers using the ashen curse in open seas, I can confirm that Ashen curse gives u are debuff.. I donno how, but it does..
Currently, I sport the Black Dog but I don't care for the cosmetics as much as the gameplay. I switch out though whenever a crew is doing a specific task, like legend of the veil requires PL outfits and GH vaults require GH outfits :) New cosmetics are nice once in a while but tend to get old when they give it out like candy... there's a reason I stopped playing D2, hopefully Rare can learn from that as well.
It’s best to ignore cosmetic sets entirely and focus on behavior. Making premature judgement calls is how you wind up demasted in a broadside.
Instead focus on the first few minutes of the engagement. Anchor status, lights, speed of sail adjustment, and ship positioning all speak more than a ship set.
Movement, bb use, accuracy, and health management give more away than any hat or curse.
A good crews cannon shots will become more accurate as smoke trails provide range information. If the enemies shots go from missing entirely to constantly hitting the ship by the second salvo, play that engagement _very_ conservatively.
I've got Black Dog and Ferryman clothing sets, hungering scar/tattoo, day one eye patch, launch crew eye of reach, year one pirate legend sails... you absolutely do not need to fear me in PvP. I mostly PvE, and I've taken several long breaks from the game.
Oddly enough the Season 8 sails seem to me to be an exception to the rule of "The older the season sails, the better the player". I've seen more good ships than noobs using them
The worst players are usualy the dark advanturer sail, they feel that this sail give them an incredible advandage because they can see 2 pixels more than you, despite the fact that this sail is never gonna make you win alone
When I first started playing level 50 was the highest and arena was brand new lol I have some really old cosmetics!
I'm working on the wild rose set mainly because I'm a huge fan of Roses. Haven't even run the tall tale yet. But I am pretty green so call out successful?
I personally enjoy looking like a noob with the shen curse and wild rose cosmetics. Its great for baiting people into thinoing itll be an easy win and lower their guard. Same reason why I sometimes leave my ship with the default appearance so people think Im new and get over confident
Lol, Crash Bandicoot 3 music in the background. 🤣 Also, I'm surprised you didn't put in the day 1 patch or the hungering one tattoos. I'd love to see where you'd put that on the tier list.
"Quick swapping like its going out of fashion" boy did that age like a fine wine
For some reason this season, season 11, a glitch randomly let's me do the sunken kingdom quest even though I didn't read all the books.
Sovereign pirates like myself are the greenest aside from the veteran fishermen 😩🙏
We just like looking fancy and sailing the seas to show off our sexy loot, not to mention- the armor looks brilliant!
I don't usually think of the ashen curse meaning a bad player, but if they are rocking ashen dragon and everything else then yeah. I have met mixelplxx 3 times I think and two of them he was wearing ashen curse, there is nothing else to say about him though he can wear anything and still be the goat. Great video
i have ghost curse, and the funny thing is, that i did get better at the game, but i always barely have a specific role that i am good at, so i just get thrown at the helm 👍
The other day I ran into a level 200 skelly curse who was blunder sniping at me ☠️
Wandering reapers and so on were pretty on point back in the day
Me as a casual player, who started about 6 months ago.
I just want to play the game and dress up as i like, i dont care what people think, i just wanna enjoy the game.
right. i love all the bold, absurd over the top, colored outfits cause i personally find them fun!
Looks like the Rose set is back in my rotation! :D
Surprised day one patch and party set wasnt mentioned
Seadog jacket and hat mixed with all the other sailor cosmetics is literally the default sot noob skin
Ive met at least three people each with the gold PvP curses, and I can confirm, they do not touch grass.
Nah so many NPCs tho especially the gold curse users on Xbox are extremely bad, not the first time I sunk or tdmed one and they called cheats
I rock an Emporium outfit (Lodestar) just because I like how it looks for me. However, I've been playing since launch.
Season one was 2 years ago?!?!?! Danm, I still remember the days of grinding out x marks the spot maps
I think being able to get an item without worrying about FOMO is much better than not being able to tell how someone got an item lol. Make it tough to get when they're brought back idc but older items should 100000% make a return, it's petty to gatekeep them over what time someone logged in
The scariest thing is a Standard sloop with dark adventurer sails and nacked pirates on it. They dont care about looks, they are just there to fuck you up.
Sailor outfit scares me the most to be honest, either a cheater or a very good player every time. mostly in hourglass they will be good tho because thats where all the sweatys are residing :D i use flower headband, merchant shirt, yellow skirt with white gloves
I am a Pirate-Legend garbed pirate with Ashen Dragon weapons and tools. I picked those things because purple and yellow are my favorite colors and there are no other options, and I'm heavily into all things reptilian. It has nothing to do with what it took to earn them.
Trashen dragon :).
Sunken Sorrow curse is actually very easy, you don't need to complete shrines. Someone in the crew can just buy they voyage for you.
same with gold curse tbh. you can get the 5 completions for each tall tale by checkpoints from other players.
i still like the design though.
You forgot the tdm outfits, my friends are tdm sweats. When I play with them I literally never lose. I got a 43 hg streak after getting bored and cashing in.
1:06 fair enough
My fav sets are generally easy to get
But they do look epic
Edit: btw I think it’s ok to bring back cosmetics with exception to stuff like the day 1 patch
same i just rock the jacket with the curse it just looks so good ig im part of the 5% 😅🤣
if they have the Dark Adventurer Jacket and it fits with their outfit then they are alright at the game and everything else shows they are terrible
2:40 the spyro music nice
Hey I don’t know if you will see this but I know a guy with 320+ days with all cosmetics both gold pvp curses and he has over 300 mil gold rn
"Play for 10 minutes to finish the season pass" Best line and true! lmao! XD
Also, I know of a server alliance that cheeses anything in the game but still have the skill level of trying to blunderbuss a meg from a mile away. So I don't really care about others cosmetics until I fight them and see what they are like.
The only thing that truly never fails, are kraken, hunter and crab sets, ashen sets and PL stuff. I usually leave those alone or help them, until they attack me that is. All the rest is a roll of the dice really, I have never encountered a good ghost curse user, but have been crapped on by emporium pirates.
Be wary of all pirates you meet.. no matter what clothing they have, it means very little in terms of skill.
that is how I often deal with any random players I meet, be wary and be ready to fight.
Idk man, some dude wiped a gallon ally crew with the spinal, and then sunk them. Killed himself and was doing the laughing emot in the ferry while making Skeleton puns
The other day teamed up with a bunch of kids that sounded like they were 9 to take on. Skeleton fleet (I’m grinding for the wailing barnacle stuff) afterwards we asked for the barnacle chests then helped them grab stuff they were a full galleon vs me and my friend on a sloop I saw them holding out their swords and two got stuck by lightning then we blundered the other two and said lightning had splash damage that definitely “pushed off all the loot” we kegged them blamed it on lightning they sunk and we played fish in a barrel only the barrel was the ocean the fish were reaper pj kids and the gun was a cannon we ended up selling it all to reapers and it turned out they had been grinding ghost forts so we made 500k
i'm regularly astonished by the incompetence of pirates dressed in the full pirate legend outfit. it's like they've never shot a cannon before
The players I fear the least and my friends and I. We had two fully crewed Brigs and got wiped out by a solo Sloop
I run a mix of the ferryman set from the controller… with one, maybe two other peices depending on my mood! And im returning training up a whole new crew! I boycotted Sot while Depps trial was going on cuz i didnt want to give a cent to disney but the point has been made and that whole thing is over
I think there’s a few exceptions. I’ve been rocking my pirate emporium costume of Sea of Sand since I bought it and I consider myself pretty good at the game. I’ve been playing before Seasons.
I think you can judge based on stereotypes. I do agree with that. But there will always be wildcards that will rock a certain outfit or costume that will not be on par with their skill level.
sounds like you really run every single server you log on to, solo even
here I am playing with the pirate legend set to match my pirate legend hull and sail that I got because I became pirate legend when the game came out in like top 100 players ^^
Is that Spyro 3 music in the background? A seaman of culture.
I really like the skelly curse. Not bcuz it’s op or something, but because I like the way it looks. Even tho I’m too bad at the game to even dream of gettin it 🤷♂️
I remember sniping fleets of fortune and one of them had golden ghost like 5 months ago ish and we proceeded to spawn camp he never killed us funny asf
the most dangerous encounter is the default ship skin who hit all your masts with chainballs in the first seconds you encounter them. :o)
Remember, back in the day when you saw somebody who was wearing the Reapers outfit and had Reaper sails you were like “oh shit these guys are gonna be a tough fight let’s get out of here!”
And now if you see someone with Reapers outfit and sails you go “oh shit, easy win and free loot!”
Im downloading sea of theifs currently, if i go to a player ship and say i dont want to fight , will they attack? i want to start a crew.
