It doesn't matter how many times we watch this scene, it always hurts. Just imagine all the times Itachi wanted to cry and tell Sasuke the truth, but he preferred to be killed by his brother and making him a hero of the Leaf 😓
I also appreciate the fact you understand Sasuke's reasons to destroy the village. After all, his life has always been tied to revenge.
I don't think Itachi ever wanted even to THINK about that night let alone tell someone about it. I don't think he wanted to burden others with it. I think he always tried to forget and forgive himself for what he has done and yet failed. I think Itachi wanted to be dead (I guessed it even before I saw 'Truth' episode for the first time).
@@Raiseflag_Surrender he never forgave himself for killing his clan. He wanted to die, but saw his life as a punishment. He was broken beyond repair and he never forgot about any of what happened and what he did. His story is just so painful. 😢😢
There are a lot of great episodes in Shippuden, but these two are among my personal favorites. There’s very little, if any, action, yet it commands your attention the entire time.
The numerous music changes, the beautiful visuals, Madara’s voice actor doing an amazing job narrating like a grandfather recalling a war story around a campfire; and Sasuke’s voice actor doing an amazing job portraying Sasuke slowly unraveling as the story progresses. All culminating in the part where Madara walks towards Sasuke, naming a different person Itachi killed with every step, and cutting his ropes.
And suddenly the same Sasuke who threatened to “kill you right here” is sitting still, no longer bound by the ropes, but by the weight of Madara’s words sinking in.
And in the end, Sasuke is crying for the very man he dedicated his life to killing.
It’s a masterclass of visual storytelling. I’m glad you enjoyed it too Flo 😊
This episode by itself is a master class in storytelling and character exposition. By this point, for the last 300+ episodes, counting filler, we've been led to believe that Itachi was crazy, selfish and power hungry (the latter of which is sort of true but for different reasons than we'd suspected). In fact, I'll go out and say it: Aside from Naruto vs. Sasuke, no other fight between two people had been hyped up this much. We'd literally waited since episode 83 for Sasuke to finally fight itachi for real, and when it finished, we thought that we knew and saw everything there was to see... but no. The Obito's narration here, the tension in the air is so thick you could cut it wide open with a knife, as we listen to details we never thought we'd ever learn about Itachi

Honey one thing we fans will always welcome when it comes to reactions is the tears. You don't need to hold back tears for a character cuz it reassure us we can cry with you reliving this moment.
imagine it took so many years for us to knew this revelation about itachi. I started watching the series at the age of 10 or 11 and knew this at the age of 16
itachi never wanted sasuke to find the truth because he knew sasuke would want to get revenge on the leaf for ordering itachi to kill hes family, itachi also never wanted ANYONE to know the truth because by not knowing the truth everyone would beilive that the uchiha clan was still the most noble and honorable clans of the leaf (the uchiha and senju created the leaf) , he prefered to be knows as a criminal to save the face of hes clan.
by leting sasuke kill him he made him the hero of the leaf (most of the leaf dont know the truth and hate itachi for killing the noble uchiha clan) sasuke also killed orochimaru and daidara so even though he is a rogue ninja he is not a bad one, infact hes a good one up to this point and thats why the leaf still wants him to return and dont send ninja to kill him because he didnt do any bad stuff.
And that is why everyone loves itachi. He is a legend.
It's funny the fact that everyone who watched original Naruto had hated Itachi for what he did and finding out why he did it is like 1,000% plot twist slap in the face of nowhere that he's a good guy always at the right side and always forever cares for his little brother respected Itachi to y'all.
The hokage is not passed down by blood relation only the first, 2nd & Tsunade are. The link between all the hokages after the first two is that Hiruzen (3rd) was trained under both kage & shared the same will of fire; also shared by his students Jiraiya who trained the 4th kage & Tsunade who took on the role after the 3rd died.

from this itachi became a legendary kid who was forced to sacrifice everything by the leaf for preventing war and saving his brother.
To prevent a civil war between his clan, lead by his father, to protect the village people, the innocents who would also be killed being caught up in this fight between the Village, the leaders, the hokage, the Anbu Black ops, the leaf ninja and the powerful Uchiha clan, he killed his emotions and did what he felt was the right thing... complete the mission he was given... stop the Coup by taking it upon himself to kill them all in a single night. The Uchiha were discriminated against from early on, and suspicion fell upon them even greater because of the nine tails attack which Danzo and the other elders of the village believed occured because an "uchiha" would be the only people capable of controlling the nine tails... and so their distrust of the Uchiha caused them to keep strict tabs on the Uchiha and thereby caused the Uchiha clan to grow tired of their discrimination against them... after all, they were not the cause of the Nine Tails attack.... and so the Uchiha began to hate the Village leaders and their power over them and began to plan a Coup d'etat to take over the village... at whatever cost! Itachi Uchiha from a young age saw the horrors of war... this turned him into a Pacifist who hated the senseless violence of war. The Third Hokage tried to reason with the other elders, telling them that the way was not by violence but by communication and negotiation.... but they wouldn't listen, gripped by their fear and distrust of the powerful clan... and so the night before the Clan would make their move, Itachi set out on his mission. The deaths on both sides, the village and the uchiha clan themselves, would have been great... but what would have come later would have been worse because other nations would have taken the opportunity to attack, to take over the land perhaps, and a great ninja war between allied nations and enemy nations would have cause many more deaths... this of course would have even put Sasuke in danger, as well as his family. It was a lose lose situation for Itachi, but he looked beyond his clan and saw the village as a prosperous peaceful place which was a stable place for people to raise their children, make a living, and come to understand one another. He felt the clan had become "arrogant"... and power hungry... well their clan had a history of "taking their brother's eyes" and "killing those closest to them to obtain the mangekyou"....
"Do not judge others simply by their preconceptions, and judgment based on their appearance. You assumed...that I have patience... You all fail to measure your own capacity and my capacity. As a result, you lie here, beaten"
"My capacity...I've lost all hope for this pathetic clan...The clan....The clan... All of you without measuring your own capacities...Had no Idea of mine...And now, you lie here, Defeated.... "

And so... though he loved his father and mother... his lover... his Aunt and Uncle... his relatives... his clan.... he looked beyond his blood and after negotiations failed due to a lack of communication on both sides, from both the elders who didn't trust the Uchiha and the Uchiha who had decided that action was needed rather than words, Itachi took it into his own hands to stop the death of innocents in the village, to stop a war between those in power and his family.... but he knew in his heart he could not kill his brother and so he planned to be not only branded as a criminal, but to hide the truth of the village and the clan, allowing Sasuke to see the Uchiha as a proud clan of the Leaf Village and the Leaf as a place where his Clan was proud to be a part of at one time.... He became not only a criminal in the eyes of the village but in the eyes of Sasuke. He made Sasuke believe he was left alive to be the avenger of the Uchiha clan, the only one powerful enough to one day test his strength against... and left the village to be an outcast, joining a lowly organization named Akatsuki to spy from the inside, protecting the village and his brother at all costs so that one day Sasuke might finally meet him in battle and he could die to his brother making Sasuke the hero of the hidden Leaf who avenged his clan. Even while sick from an illness, he took medicine and drugs to prolong his life until he could face Sasuke. Then by dying to Sasuke he would awaken Sasuke's mangekyou powers being that Itachi was the closest to his brother, regardless of Sasuke hating him at that point. He even implanted a jutsu in Sasuke to activate at the sight of Madara's sharingan to kill Madara before he could tell Sasuke the truth..... knowing that Sasuke's new goal would be.... "to destroy the Hidden Leaf!" Itachi Uchiha, RIP Hidden Leaf Hero and favorite character of so many.... even while we thought he was evil, we thought he was cool... now that we know the truth, he is much more than cool.
For all the Itachi Uchiha lovers out there, and for some absolute great storytelling, please- PLEASE treat yourself and get a hold of the written word book "Naruto: Itachi's Story".
It is a perfect telling of Itachi's entire life from his perspective and his voice is _IN_ those pages i'm telling you; I read it in my local library in one sitting and I can never recommend it enough, check your local library/it's website, see if you can get it delivered to your library, buy the book online, get it. whenever you get the chance get it, you will love it i promise, don't wait for another time get it you won't regret it

Itachi Uchiha symbol was crows not as a death symbol only, but as a symbol of the one that take care to others from the shadows. If you want to understand more deeper here is example, in the data books of Itachi novel when itachi was young danzo came to him and ask him a question; If you are the commander of a ship that has 10 crew members and one of the crew members is sick with Infectious terminal disease who can infect the rest of the crew, what would you do? Itachi replied that he would have killed the sick member. Denzo smiled turned around and walked away.

This is going to be long. Bear with me. Whenever I find reaction channels, I look for reactions to certain episodes and check them first (if they are available) and so I did. Boy, you know, it always feels different to watch Naruto with somebody and today , it just so happened to be you, Florence, I believe, is your name? I love how spunky you can be, how into the little moments (from your other reactions), how attentive of the background music, goofy and at the same time entertaining. And with all of these, is the other serious emotional side for episodes such as these. It feels that time spent here pays off real good to see you react, me watching the anime for an instant and then your reaction and both of them going on in perfect synergy. You remind me so much of the time when I was young like you, vibrant and enthusiastic, emotional and goofy about whatever this show put out.

How do you feel now knowing that Sasuke was beaten to a walking dead body, this was the moment in Itachi's life where he was weaker, and also, knowing that the more you use the Mangekyou more you go blind, how many years has it been since that Itachi used Mangekyou for the first time, during the massacre of the cla uchiha, around 8 years.

Basically, Sasuke just realized that his whole life was one giant f*cked up genjutsu, and the sole reason of revenge for which he lived to that point was completely fake and useless. Safe to say he is in a very NOT GOOD mental state and further driven by more rage.
