    That was a very good video and the camera work was great. I have a LR3 and you make me want to go driving in the dirt right now.

    Nice video ! White LR4, Suggestion only. Dont leave the tow attachment on because it will drag and snag mate. :)

    Great video! How do you like the APT sliders? Do you have the underbody protection, as well? I am looking at fitting my 2016 with the APT setup.

    I have same setup, well almost. 130k miles and my motor is shot. Basically 2011 use plastic timing guides for the chain, and well, they fail especially on an interference engine. Make sure you service the timing chain and update the guides with metal. Also replace the hydraulic timing chain tensioner when your in there. Used engines start at 9k here in the U.S.

    They are factory 18" Land Rover wheels sprayed black with archillies Desert Hawke mud terrain tyres...
    The tyres are fantastic off road but horrendously noisy on road so I only use them when adventuring, way too loud for the city!

    • @fredbrackely
      @fredbrackely Před 7 lety

      I thought all LR4's came with 19" wheels or a 20" option, also what tires are those? Great vid, and post a few more!

    • @lukep9601
      @lukep9601  Před 7 lety

      Cheers, and yep more vids to come!
      The earlier D4's had 18" wheels, the later ones have larger brake callipers which struggle to fit under the 18" wheel unless you file down a small section of the calliper first hence why most just have the 19" or 20" wheels.
      The tyres are achilles desert hawke MT

    • @geoffx19
      @geoffx19 Před 7 lety

      Do you have a picture of where needs to be filed on the brake caliper?

    • @lukep9601
      @lukep9601  Před 7 lety

      Geoff Carr no need on my d4 but it's pretty obvious on the rear calliper when you take the wheel off

    • @geoffx19
      @geoffx19 Před 7 lety

      Luke Poynter I'm confused. Your D4 looks like a post MY14 with 3 litre. I thought all 3 litre D4's couldn't fit 18's. What year is your D4?

  • @scubapro14
    @scubapro14 Před 7 lety

    Nice vid! Do you air down or up your tyres for offroad? And what size tyres are your running?

    • @lukep9601
      @lukep9601  Před 7 lety +1

      scubapro14 I didn't change it for this track, but normally down if I don't need so much clearance

    • @scubapro14
      @scubapro14 Před 7 lety

      I do the same. I rarely air down because the Terrain Response works so well and I tend to get a lot of sidewall punctures in rocky terrain when aired down. We're a bit limited with our 18"-19" tyres and 7,000lb weight.

  • @peanuts2105
    @peanuts2105 Před 7 lety +1

    I love this 4x4 because no other car in the world does the muddy stuff with such aplomb and street stuff in the city with such refinement. That takes some serious engineering to do both.
    Did you spec the Disco with the locking diff? All the best. Ps. I might do this in the Alice Springs area, next April

    • @lukep9601
      @lukep9601  Před 7 lety +1

      peanuts2105 nah I didn't know about the locking diff before I bought this one but I really wish the battery didn't die before we filmed the way back up this track from the beach, it's a pretty serious track and i just can't see how the locking diff would be necessary given I still never failed for traction.. maybe a nice to have but not a necessity at all.

      LR lost their way when they went v6, the engines are really a nightmare to work upon. I was a field service and engine rebuilder for Cummins, I could whip a turbo off say a cab over Kenworth in 30 mins rebuild it and have it back on in 2 hours, on the tdv6 you cannot even see the turbo I have 2010 2.7, when it going, it is better than any vehicle on the road and off it, but, when stuff goes wrong, it is really bad news, mainly electronics, I have a diagnostic tool, tells me what's wrong but fixing it is a nightmare

    Do you have wheel spacers? If so what width. Also, compressor shield? I guess what I"m asking what's everything that's aftermarket. I'm planning a build, any input is appreciated. Thanks much

    • @lukep9601
      @lukep9601  Před 5 lety

      Its pretty standard.. no wheel spacers, its a 2011 D4 so it fits 18" wheels (and even 17" i believe). I don't do much off-roading, mainly just beach driving when on holidays. Rock sliders and suspension height rods for extended lift which can be handy in super soft sand thats about it

    Hi, How do you have your side awning attached. Thanks for the help. Jeff-

    • @lukep9601
      @lukep9601  Před 7 lety

      Jeff Henderson its attached to the roof racks using a home made L bracket. You can use the stock ones but then the awning sits up high instead of being flush with the roof rack.. just a cosmetic thing, functionally either way is fine

    • @jeffhenderson838
      @jeffhenderson838 Před 7 lety

      Luke, thanks for the reply, I was wondering if you could text me a close up picture I'm trying to move my awning from my P38 to my new to me LR4 but I can't figure it out, I also decided on a small trailer for my RTT and not a roof rack so mounting options are limited. LOVE your truck it looks amazing. 2zero3-78eight-8635 Thanks Jeff-

    Awesome driving. Have you had any problems since you put the wheels on??? I have same vehicle 2015- SCV6 with 18" compomotive rims on 265/60 18. Had them for around 8000km my car suddenly will not rev past 3000rpm. Took it to the LANDROVER they said it's because the tyres are over size. They won't touch it said i need to fit 255/60/18 and the

    • @lukep9601

      Ant Milne that doesn't make sense, the tyre and wheel choice will have no impact on the revs of the engine in that way.

    • @oohsam
      @oohsam Před 4 lety
