Was very helpful. Was able to remove deck so I could extricate a wire cage I had run over while mowing. This showed me exactly what to do get it off and back on. Thank you.

    Thank you for the video.
I still had a hard time removing the deck until I realized that the anti-scalp wheels were never properly adjusted, so when I lowered the deck to the lowest setting it was still suspended in air. This lead me to think me I wasn’t pulling the pedal back far enough to lock in position and not be able to release the J hooks. It wasn’t until I tried lifting the deck and setting the wheels 90 degrees that they would release.

I just want to thank you for this video. My husband and I would have never been able to replace the belt, if it was not for your video. You have saved us. Thank you!!!

Bought my x320 used. No manual. decided to remove the deck. Much huffing and puffing. (some vile words as well) Those derned J hooks would not go back in. Finally figured out that the lift pedal needed to be pulled back and locked. But until I saw your video I never knew about the pin on the belt tensioner. So that's how you do it! Take it from me, if you do it without the manual, and without watching this video, you, my friend are in for a treat! So thanks Tom.

It's nice to know all the tricks of pulling the deck and re-installing it. It helps, a few places, to have an assistance with a strong back -- but it's not required. I never pull the deck just to sharpen the blades -- a 5'8" hex wrench will take off the nut holding each blade on, and when they're in a vise they're a lot easier to sharpen well. If the nut won't come off, either a wrench with a longer handle can do it, or an impact driver -- of those two, the long-handled wrench is a better and simpler solution. You need to brace the blades firmly to loosen the nut at the start, and a 4x6x2 piece of wood or something similar does the job.

Whew. Not a 5'8" socket, just a 5/8" socket for the job.

Also note that some have blades marked Left and Right Side. That is when you are sitting on the seat facing forward. RTFM Read The F'ing Manual.

you forgot to rotate the 4 anti scalp wheels to aid in rolling the deck out.

  • @scottsvillekydeliveries7182

You forgot to turn the 4 deck wheels, so you can easily roll it out from under the tractor. LOL

and don't forget to grease it whole its out. Really its so easy to take off there's no reason to fight it.

After 10 years struggling to remove a deck on an x500, I never realized the big writing below the pedal that said _"Before changing attachments, lock pedal here"_... ugh, all those hours wasted heheh

@@JustADad Apparently the front hangar does not have to be removed by unbolting at the ends or taking off H clips.
