As a Caps fan, this was embarrassing. But seeing the Ref just standing there waiting for the Horn to end was HILARIOUS! It reminds me of when a similar thing happened in Vegas a few years back.
As a Wild fan I was laughing and confused still when referring came up I'm like shit they are gonna a deny the goal... then Wild beat them in a shoot out. Wild are down I think 9 great players one being Kaprizov but this shows they got this (with a little laugh too lol)

The way that the Caps' power play has been, they would've been better off doing like the NFL and declining the penalty. And I say this as a Caps fan. Our power play blows so hard.

Minnesota had a delayed penalty so, the play would’ve been called dead by the refs as soon as an MN player touched the puck. Teams will pull their goalie to get an extra attacker on the ice for as long as they can hold possession of the puck with a delayed penalty because it’s essentially extra power play time. Hope that helps explain why he wasn’t in net!
Well it used to be the play would be blown dead once the team that took the penalty touched the puck. Now it's once they control the puck. So if it's just a touch or deflection the play is not dead. They actually have to control/possess the puck now before the play is blown dead.
The goal was actually good because at no point did the team with the penalty that scored had complete control of the puck, It was poke chacked at best into the net
Clickbait. The home team doesn't "troll" the referee when he calls a good goal for them. This was simply a horn guy not realizing the announcement wasn't over yet because of the penalty call.
