Had you carried on to the traffic lights, turn right it would take you to Mackies Brae, and at the bottom of Mackies Brae is the Denburn.
Lived in Whitehouse Street 60 years ago.

I'll be carrying on further down that way at some point fairly soon. Mackies Brae and the Denburn have come up in some things I was reading recently

@@scottg2754 or turn left at traffic lights and go up wee lane, bit of an oasis in middle of city ( or it used to be)

@@scottg2754 hey Scott, try a walk at Granholm, start at walled garden opposite Mikes chipper at the Haudagain. Head up a path and walk is signposted. Takes you to Castle care home, go down the path to th3 river and follow the flow. You come to Granholm bridge. Go over the bridge, Turn sharp right down a cobbled road, over the new bridge and keep to flow of river entrance at Tillydrone community centre. Takes you to Seaton park. From there either up to St Machar cathedral and item Old Aberdeen. Or turn left to Brig o Balgownie. Nice walk plenty to see.
Back at Granholm bridge if you go straight you can do a circle back to walled garden Tesco is same area.
Granholm Mill was a mill for cloth, among others Crombie cloth, extremely hard wearing wool. Used by Russian army, Also supp, ied to both forces in American civil war. Info plaque at Granholm has 8yo children working in mill from 6.00 am to 8 pm changed days. Enjoy

How can one stand seeing the same color buildings all around? It's something that for sure the locals took for granted. It's horrible.

I genuinely haven't let it bother me. If you know anything about the history of the area, granite was accessible and would keep the cost down. Do more, cost less. It looks good on a sunny day. Looks dreary on a wet day. Kind of appropriate.
