Yes you could but the weight of the wire and crimps also helps with the sinking very slightly

Top idea on the curlers , I was thinking of trying to use a small bubble float ? as the Browning xenos looks a bit like that ??

They have no brand name we find them in Spain in Chinese hardware shops
