Battling with MX5's at Three sisters in my K11 Micra

  • Last week i took the 1.3 Micra to Three Sisters race track, unfortunately i was an idiot and didn't tighten up the camera mount properly and the camera filmed the floor on my most eventful session where i managed to pass quite a lot but this session was full of stuff that was considerably quicker than me in a straight line, i managed to hold most of it off though and battled it out with an MX5 for most of the session.
    Check out the footage :)
    The car is a stock 1.3 16 valve cg13de engine with BC coilovers, Gizfab handling package and 15" team dynamic wheels with federal RSR tyres.
    It still has the standard brakes so overall the car isn't highly modified at all.
    Filmed on GO Pro hero 7 black:

    That thing looks like it carries more speed through slow corners as well. Great sounding car!

    Don't know if it would be of any use but a rev needle? You can get factory sets or aftermarket, and there are tutorials on fitting. Maybe a future mod?

      @@damiandarrington6480 i think i'll have to fit it before i take it to the Nurburgring. It's not too bad on this track as i only change gear twice on each lap and i know it hits the limiter of 2nd at 55mph so i can judge it off that but i think it'll be a bit more tricky on a bigger track.

    That hand placement...

    • @LeadFootash23
      @LeadFootash23  Před 5 lety +1

      I'm 6 foot 8 and the seating position is all wrong. I think because i'm sat too high and too close to the wheel i've adopted this strange hand position because i'm holding the wheel too high up.
      I don't drive my other cars like that. Need to get some side mount seat rails so i can move the seat back more and have it lower.

    keeps those hands fixed buddy, shouldn't be shuffling the wheel like a granny. you'll find you laps become much more consistent

    • @LeadFootash23
      @LeadFootash23  Před 5 lety

      I think it's because you have to give the car so much lock, like the wheel is turned over 180° on some of the corners, i've never driven like that in any of my other cars on there before but yeah you're right i need to stop it 😂

    • @georgiboy001
      @georgiboy001 Před 5 lety

      @@LeadFootash23 do one small movement before the corner so from 9-3 go to say 11-5/1-7 and then commit to the corner. everytime you take your hands off the wheel mid corner you're losing the feel of the front end. Not so much of a problem in a micra but stepping into a bigger/ more powerful fwd or a rwd

    • @LeadFootash23
      @LeadFootash23  Před 5 lety

      @@georgiboy001 yeah i get what you're saying, problem is i can't give it the lock it needs without taking my hands off the wheel. If you watch the wheel it goes over 180° on most of the corners because the steering rack is so long. I wouldn't be able to turn it enough even if i crossed my arms over.
      It's not meant to be a sports car so the rack is a lot longer than you'd find in a more powerful car.
      I could drive my Prelude and rx8 around there without taking my hands off the wheel at all because the racs were a lot shorter.

    Horrible handling of the wheel.. and hand placement in general.. But with practice you'll get there.. car looks like a hoot to drive though. 👌👍

    • @LeadFootash23
      @LeadFootash23  Před 5 lety

      Yep definitely need to work on the hand placement, i'm fairly sure i've never driven with my hands like that in any other car but i've never had a car that needed so much lock so don't know if i've subconciously adapted this horrible driving style to make up for that 😂
      Either way, now i'm aware of it i can get a bit more practice in and work on it 🙂
