The melodic chorus of Linger keeps blowing me away everytime I listen
Wow, same here, dude! This is my favourite song from the moment it was released. That chorus is so unimaginably powerful I'd never be able to fully express my feelings towards it. 😅

was hoping for some huge melodic ending just in the style of linger. I feel like it could have done the album good to sprinkle in more in the style of linger.
This isn’t music anymore. It’s a depiction of the Earth in absolute ruin. The vocalist (some ancient immortal being) is just standing amongst the Ashen rubble screaming into the void “I told you guys this would happen!!”

it's a shame because on the records he sounds great but live it's just not there
im definitely biased here but i gotta say thall is probly the most interesting and unique thing to come out of metal in a long ass time while still being widely adaptable to tons of different sounds, even just looking at the 2 big bands (vildhjarta and hlb) to bands like atlas, who are underrated as shit btw, and even polyphia bringin some thall shit on their last album on songs like chimera and bloodbath. Theres a lot of different sounds and theres still so much unexplored territory in this subgenre

So, overall the album was brilliant. I only really have one thing that disappointed me and that was in Catastrophize they didn’t use that amazing synth at the start as a main melody with their signature massive guitar sound over the top. If it dropped with that synth line it would have been game over man. My body was ready for it and it didn’t happen.
Still though…killer album!
I'm convinced this is what it would sound like if you traveled back in time and gave modern instruments to actual 9th century viking raiders.

This whole album reminds me of an old episode of A Thousand Ways to Die, where some drunk forgot to set the parking brake on his steamroller before jumping into a shitter. The only difference, is that Buster Odeholm is at wheel of the steamroller, maniacally smirking down on the poor guy. He's making a point of doing it as slowly as possible. During some of the more intense riffage, such as during Death Spiral and Wither, he's reversing and forwarding the steamroller to the pace of the music, and laughing his ass off as he does so. This album is grotesquely hard.

Half honest and joking question, what kind of metal is this? Slow-mo death metal? I guess there's fast death metal and so slow it's deadly.
I dismissed these guys from your single reaction. I'm not a death metal kind of guy. But these guys deliver heaviness and sick riffs, great vocals too. Second chance coming!

@@Aoichanpiano idk its just not musically interesting to me. Its messy in a non interesting way. And it does not sound heavy to me, the same way a washing machine does not sound heavy to me.
To expand on it, i just dont like the tempoes, melodies nor chord progressions of the songs. Its more abstract then i like my music to be. But thall usually does not resonate with me in general
