It's kind of shucking how much better. When did they give up not being a self parody? Because that's what it's turned into. I guess that's why a lot of die hards loved Kat's return episodes last year where Mo told everyone Kat was dead to scam them out of money. It was self parody but..,I guess, well written self parody? Tony Jordan wrote it. I didn't like it at all though. When you watch Kat from 2001 to 2005. she had a tarty dress sense but it wasn't boobs falling out and overkill leapard print all the time. She wore jeans and trousers a lot, she always wears skirtsd and dresses now. Why? Because that's what EE has turned into, it's shallow. Thanfully, there's thousands of episodes to see. I've seen a lot of old EE over the years but there stlll chunks I haven't seen or haven't seen for a long time so have forgotten. 1995 to 1999 and then the early 2000's are actually the era I've seen the least of. I've watched numerous months from 99, 00 and 01 this year though. Years ago there was a channel with slater/kat scenes so I was able to watch a whole bunch of that but not so much of the rest of that era at the time.
Times have changed since the 90s. For the better? No. But I think EastEnders today is good also. It's a bit far fetched at times but it still has me glued to the telly for half an hour and I still think it's the best soap in the UK
Davids trolling of them was good value. Grant absolutely walloped him in his first few months on the square and brutalised his face but he didnt back down after that carried on with the wind ups.
Can you imagine EastEnders conversations and dialogue being this realistic nowadays? The conversation at the table at 8 minutes is like nothing we would see now. It might not be the World's best writing, but it feels real. The scene is a bit too exposition - y but it seems like a conversation real people could have. Obviously exposition type info dump are a bit clunky in tv/film.
i always thought that, the eastenders dialogue in the 80s and 90s felt very real, people spoke to each other like they do in real life, same with the bill, really good cast at the time this was from, this was the year they dd the trip to spain.
He wasnt a baddie as such, that title would go to steve owen, dan sullivan, tricky richard cole those types maybe even david wicks. Grant was a bully and a nutcase became “bad” during his relationship with tiffany but a family man at heart. Bad guys tend to come and go he was part if the furniture from 91-99.
Classic example of how a proud woman’s spite affects everyone-even her own children: Carol can’t afford to pay for Bianca’s wedding but says only over her dead body will David get to help🤣
Love Barbara Windsor. Proper East end lady. I do think when she played Peggy she played a bit of Violent Kray and how she was with Ron and Reg Kray. Because she did mix with them for a while. Rip Barbara ❤❤❤
@@lewiscolley1742 i agree it not realistic fire brigade coming that quick as a matter of fact it be a miracle if the fire brigade came that quick to good to be true👍

Peggy the only woman to keep Grant and Phil in line
I think she made them worse 😂
This is peak eastenders in my opinion never get bored of watching early to late 90s eps
What a perfectly timed line! 13:37
Loved EE back then in 1995. Much better than today.

It was the show's 10th anniversary and Buzz couldn't have been better and this was the days BEFORE social media. It really was unmissable then.
@Stay Classy yeah nostalgia plays a huge part.
Your right pal it's utter crap nowadays. I'm watching the reruns on the Drama channel😊👍

R.I.P Barbara Windsor x
Lol at Peggy laying down the law to Phil and Grant
phil n grant are like 2 naughty little boys in trouble with their mum.
Sam should have taken David to her bedroom instead. That would have pissed Grant off even more! Lol

Robbie joining in the room with Sam & David lmao that smile he makes 🤣🤣
Ethel's speech gosh... if she could see 2023!..
It's was good in the old days.
Grant Mitchell is the Best Soap Bad Guy in British Soap History (10/09/2022)

In them days Eastend son and brothers were more afraid of there own mothers than the old Bill.
The current writers of the show need to go back and watch the old shows like this and go back to writing it like it used to be written.
notice how the vic is always full of life in these old clips now its always empty with no music playing.
It's not just the writing. They can never recapture the 90's brilliance of EE because they will never have the same class of actors.
It's empty now because off covid 19 😣😣😣😣😣😣😣
Eastenders will always be brilliant I don't care what anyone's says my best soap 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
It was 20 to 30 years ago. Today's stuff just doesn't compare.

13:39 good thinking
15:50 Oh thanks love, really helpful 🤓
Peggy may as well sit in the corner and watch David and Sam go at it... she's way too keen
See Grant there's a fire in the square lol
All those businesses and Phil wears the same blue shirt
That’s well weird because yes Murray moved in and she said mr murray
Looks like Karen knew she would be working at the launderette 19 years before she did she has written her name
?
@@dwainesworld1019 it’s in the launderette scene
Phil could have had a one on one dust up with old Alan in the allotments
Fkn liberty's hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
what you don't know, Cathy, is that DEN'S NOT DEAD AT ALL!!!!
He is now
So 1995
and I don’t think Peggy ever admitted to grant and phil that they were right about david wicks 🤔
whats that 2 rhinos breeding trademark on the spare tyre at 0:00 ?
