This is the newest version from McFarlane, the mega-figure two-pack with Superman, and the sculpt is pretty awesome.
Even so, it needs a bit of work. That means we're cutting, sculpting, painting, the works!
I'm excited to make this guy a little work of art, so let's get going!

Everyone says doomsday is a dc version of hulk but he’s MUCH more than that.. top 3 dc villains for sure

There are some great Doomsday versions out there, for sure.
The final result reminds me a lot of Injustice 1 doomsday. The way the colors are done, you did a great job on. Love this custom, bought him for my birthday.

He's definitely worth getting if you can find him.
I would have painted the cloth pieces on his arms as close as possible to his green pants. Like remnants of the containment suit.
That's what I did on the Devastator version, but I worried it would look weird since there weren't any tatters elsewhere. Maybe I could have added some with Milliput. That would have looked cool.

This is unbelievably good. Easily one of the best custom Mcfarlane figures I've ever seen and what they should've released.
Thanks so much! I wish they'd gone this route too, but then I wouldn't have been able to customize it, and that's half the fun of collecting for me now.
Great video… I’m actually doing this same thing changing devastator doomsday into this doomsday. I find doing these customization to be very relaxing as well. It helps between work and family to have a little time for myself.

No, I'm actually letting my son put the old one in his collection next to one of his Supermen. It's a good reminder of how much more experience I have now.
I have my Doomsday taken apart for some paint. Would like to follow what you did with the dark wash and the white on the spikes. One thing I did with mine. I saw someone on Instagram separate the ab piece from the chest (it's easy just a straight peg so it just slides out if you pull) and fill up the peg hole a little.. I rolled small balls of paper and packed them down. What that does is raises the chest up off the abs so he doesn't look so squat in that area and makes the abs visible. It also makes him slightly taller.
That's a great idea! I never would have thought of that. A little more space between the chest and abs would make him stand out even more. I'd love to see yours.

This is sick! Despite mcfarlane figures being paint lack luster, he purposely adds lots of details and sculpts so customizers can improve them. Nic3 doomsday custom! Much better than oem!

I'm actually using the Superman he came with as a base for Justice Lord Superman, but I have some ideas for a battle damaged Superman I might do in the not too distant future.
Looks great pal! Are you maybe planning any complete figure makeovers in the near future? I’m talking new head, new cape, completely different paint job etc.
Next week I have an Invincible figure that's a full repaint of an Impulse, as well as a Joker Beyond figure that is a kitbash from four different figures. Lots of other stuff on the way too.

I would start with a good gray plastic paint primer. It will make a huge difference. You could even go with a black and then build your paint layers up from there if you want to add color texture. Getting a good primer for plastics is key.
I did the same thing to my mcfarlene spawn with a custom leather flowing cape and lose chains

Oh good i used thin wire and easy to cut small enough to go over hes eyes looks now he looks more like did in the comic book
You definitely improved the look of this figure by 100 percent. Can you paint me one because I love Doomsday and was thinking about buying this two figure pack. The original paint is what threw me off about it and to not wanna buy it. 😆 But this is what I envisioned it could look like, I just don’t have the time. Do you put any clear over the paint to seal it and preserve it? Mcfarlane is lazy on a lot of their paint applications to a lot of their figures and products. It’s a shame because this is what it could be and would make people buy it with no problem. I don’t know what their deal is but it sucks. It’s a sad shame is what it is, they need to hire and fire someone. Awesome Doomsday figures are hard to come buy these days, so is another of my favorites Sabretooth. I am buying that two pack Marvel Legends Wolverine and Sabretooth because finally a decent Sabretooth. 😆
I usually coat figures in either a glossy or matte finish to protect the paint. Vallejo paints don't necessarily need it, but it's an extra layer that keeps the figures protected ever after.
Kenneth Rocafort Is THE BEST COMIC BOOK ARTIST.
His stuff is awesome. I particularly love some of his New 52 Superman work.

Hey steve i wanted to ask you after you get done with painting how do you get the paint to stay on so it dosent rub off ever?
Often I'll use a sealant spray, like a gloss or matte enamel. They work very well.
Do you have a video that details what kind of resin you use as adhesive for the sculpting compound on the figure? And how do you prepare it, Where do you buy it?
It's call Milliput and I just bought it at Hobby Lobby. It's a mixture resin where you mix together the two active parts and then it hardens like plastic over the next four or five hours. It's great stuff. I'll be using it in more videos in the coming weeks, particularly my Electric Blue Superman custom.
@@superheumann I'm familiar with milliput. I was talking about the clear stuff that you were applying with the spoon. I usually use some kind of super glue, but I want to get away from it because it discolors
Got it! It's a Devcon 5-minute epoxy. It's tougher than superglue and works amazing.
@@superheumann thank you!!! I haven't heard of it before! So that sticks really strong to flexible plastic and milliput?
@@kobocopcustoms it does. I got it at Harbor Freight, but I'm sure they have it at Hobby Lobby too. The only downside is that you have to hold it in place at times with things like capes and stuff like that, but with the Milliput you don't have to generally. It's like the Milliput in that it's two different gels that you mix together with a plastic spoon. I like it because it doesn't dry instantly and gives you a chance to shift things around a bit if needed.

It looks way better sideways. I was nervous about cutting it off, but it was definitely the right choice.
It would be the greatest figure if todd added and extra close fist but he had to get it nothing but won close fist and open fist? Dammit todd. I would say his just a great figure. Not greatest if he had those complete fist then I'll decide the doomsday he created is the greatest than storm collectibles.
I agree. Closed fists would definitely be more Doomsday-appropriate.
