I have found easier method! And you know waht it is. Arpeggiator. Just put in chords and you have melody ;)
@@SaundiHemmoarps aren’t singable so they won’t be catchy or memorable
@@AaronZuniga617 use customisable arpeggiator, it will create singable melodies.

I have been making music for nearly a decade, starting a melody was always so difficult for me! your tip of laying the rhythm first allowed my ideas to stay in my head long enough for me to write it all out, very grateful for your content thank you!
You're welcome, Colt, glad you found not helpful!
Thank you for watching and supporting the channel 🙂🙌🏻
lol
First thing to do ALWAYS when you have a melody in your head is to record it to your phone! If you think that you'll remember it, you're wrong!✌🏼
@@aveniaofficial5795 Yes ^
A tip - best ideas come when you don't expect just throw in random notes then perfection them - sometimes you get a banger!
This is for the people who want to sound like a factory
This method does seem a little limiting but might be good for someone just starting out to get to know their way around a daw and the piano roll
Everyone starts somewhere
@@AndyAcostaProductionsCreating music is about knowing your instrument(s), having creativity, knowing how to express that creativity trought emotion in your music. And ton of practice, learning...
Of cource you have to start somewhere. But all this teaches is not how to make your way into creating music, but shows you a "shortcut" into making shitty music that nobody will ever listen to, wasting begginers' time, while they can actually learn smth about music theory...
I mean: select scale, rhythm repetitive part, bass, high notes, duplicate. It's crap. It's like saying that banana ducttaped to a wall is art (yes it's an actual "peace", yes some people see art in it...).
@@delibery366 show us another way to compose a melody?
The actual musical example sounds nothing like a factory. 😂
You know, I really like non catchy melodies. Melodies that vary overtime. So the listener wants to hear the melody again if he forgets it.
Nothing wrong with that!
Oh hi there
i too like turing machines
Johnny 5 and Yak
Are u saying you can’t remember this melody?
I didn't know this trick of first writing the rhythm in a single note and then dispersing it in several notes
Thank you very much it has been very helpful :)
You're welcome, glad you liked it! 🙂
I always start with chords, then do the main rhythm, add variation, add a counter melody until I really like it, show it some people to see if they like it, and finally I save the project and never touch it again
Only is you choose to! Find your tribe, celebrate your wins and learn from your mistakes.
That’s literally me LOL
I also do the same thing.
This is the way
I do prefer a more traditional approach to melody and harmony dictation, but this is a good technique to experiment with structure and to see what works and why. Good stuff
Cheers, Jaybee, I am glad you found it helpful! 🙂🙌🏻
This is a really good explanation! Contrary motion--without calling it that, repetition of melodic jumps--without calling it that, basic chords--without a heavy explanation. This is great!
What I like about this is that, while great producers could already create such a melody as this, you give a more detailed perspective and you know the full intention. You, sir, are a pro.
Thank you, Ismael, I really appreciate the support! 🙌🏻
A trick I've learned recently is using the 2nd note of the key a lot in the melody. It is pretty prominent in modern pop music because it lends well to catchy melodies
and boring
Also the tonic (key) of the scale is INCREDIBLY BORING (sadly for us who learned their scales). Avoiding the tonic, and eventually finding it, can be critical
Write catchy melodies by writing catchy melodies. Who would have thunk it! this has been an eye opener!
writing melodies is about instinct and intent, you can't teach someone how to do it in a 60 second video lol. Melody comes from practice. I guess people dont want to practice
this will really help with my production. since Iv been making edm like this. simple melodies like this are awesome
Thank you, I am glad you found it helpful! If you want to glimpse more detail on this approach, check out my full tutorial here: czcams.com/video/rXJka9Rb0Bo/video.html
Hope you enjoy! 🙂
This should help a lot of people. I actually like this because it might tame my instinct to make complex melodies. Starting with just one note with rhythm will be helpful. Thanks!
You make it look so easy 😅
Lots and lots of practise!
i'd argue this is not for every genre. sounds pretty but it's more in the style of mainstream music
Love your tips! I've been writing music for twenty years and melodies come to me very easily at this point in my life, but this has required years of playing, and improvising and soloing, not trying to toot my own horn, but this method is a really cool way of getting catchy melody and I've used it many time! Very cool man bi
Very glad to hear man! Thank you so much! :)
Never thought of setting the rhythm on one note before shifting them around! Will give that a whirl
Man, your content is just so good. Thanks so much. Can't wait for more x
Mapping the rhythm out in a single pitch is the biggest tip in this whole video.

The interesting thing to me at the end is there’s a third mid melody, that I believe is really the counter melody doing a lot of work in places where there is space and harmonically in a different range. I love all your videos, so thank you, cheers.
every beginner needs to see this, this is probably the best piece of advice I've heard. thank you
beautiful
Thank you!

yeah, this was very helpful. i don’t have a difficult time coming up with melodies; it’s just finding those notes on a keyboard that i find hard.
Glad you found it useful!
This is actually crazy
This is really great tips actually, the writinhlg rythm first never thought of that
Very useful. Thank you. God bless you🎉

Very useful my brother
Thanks, glad you liked it! 🙂🙌🏻
So good! :O
Very happy to hear!
Yeah this was huge... i was thinking you were going to harmonise that initial note, but yeah its important to switch up the rhythms, as you notice it gave it that polyrhythmic vibe... polyrhythms are massive I'm finding with these new polyrhythm videos I've been seeing on YT
Indeed man! Much more interesting to listen to! Glad you enjoyed it! :)
i will use this tip right now
Stoked to hear it! 🙌🏻

Wow thanks alot
You’re welcome, glad you found it helpful 🙂🙌🏻
My melodies I’ve been told were pretty catchy and yet it’s so simple for me. The hard part of me making a full beat instead of the melody I’m not the best at transitions. Like this one beat I’m working on right now. I got the chorus a little fast vibe to it but the verse right after it goes to slow and it’s hard for me to tweak out the transitions.
Keep up the good work!
I tried it- it worked so well wtf
Stoked to hear that! 🙌🏻
Thanks man!
this so useful
Sir you arr the best thank you
You're welcome, glad you found it helpful! 🙌🏻
Can you explain what you mean by repetition within the rhythm and the shape of the pitch jumps?
Thanks, found this very useful 🔥 keep up the good work
Happy to hear man! Thank you for your support!
May I know what software you're using? Thank you.
This is just... lovely ❤

Very helpful
Nice

I support this absolute denouncing of the flesh and becoming a better human being unrestricted by the-ugh-limitations of the human form
pretty good way of making music if you dont know music theory
Bingo!
You know this is actually a really simple starting point. Check out Mozart (possibly the best melody writer in history) Symphony 40 in G minor. The repeated rhythm is something very easy to notice.
Another point that you can learn from Mozart and apply here is to use the same intervals, but go in a different direction, or vary how you get up or down.
Mozart does something like this:
1. 345 1. 345
5. 431 5. 4(2)31
Basically he uses one rhythm pattern to rise to a target note, then he comes back down from the target note to the home note using the same rhythm but changing the direct a little.
Great tip, thanks for sharing!
Wow
Cheers! Glad you liked it 🙂🙌🏻
That bass is beautiful. How did you make it?
Wish I could do this in my daw but I actually liked the melody so I'll try some bootleg version of this

I have been using Abelton for years now and how did I never notice the scale button
So what is app u are using btw im an beginer so it was always hard for me to write the catchy but i am good at making lyric thank ypu😊
Wait if you don’t mind me asking, what app did u use in this?
Great question! I use Ableton Live :)
My music theory heart died a bit when you said skipping a note each time. Mostly because it's true.
I always have a hard time with the melody, but hey this tip its fire
Nice! I am glad you found this helpful! 🙂
I don't understand
Pls make brazilian phonk
Very cool little idea, it's funny, this visually explains part of what I've been gravitating to with melody writing for a long time. My mind always thought of it internally as some kind of relationship or moving patterns around in the scale with the same rhythm for a while.
Still, inspiration is unexplainable and why certain rhythms or variations work better than others. Nonetheless, this is a very cool little video to help you start to get the idea of how Pop singers often write melodies - whether they fully realize this is what they are doing or not.
P.S. I really want to move that Countermelody around, tho! Ahahahah
👌👌
Cheers, glad you liked it! 🙌🏻
Bro, thats not catchy... Stop the cap
I've been watching a couple of videos and very much inspired try this stuff. Can you help with the name of the tool you use
Ableton :)
What app do you use and is it free (if you don’t mind me asking) ?
What is this software please? Thanks 😊
Great question! It's Ableton Live
❤
🙌 ❤️
GOD this will be breakfast for A.I:s.
Not for quite some time, me thinks!
@@EDMTips Googles AI already knows who I am.
Oh dear
What software do you use?
Great question, I use Ableton Live
Prog rock says otherwise
what software is this?
Great question! It's Ableton Live :)
Is there an easy way with Live 10? Unfortunately i don't have the option to collapse the keyboard to a scale without placing the notes first
If you found this helpful, then forget to follow me.
Had me dying 😂
Cheers 😬
what music software do you use in this video?
Great question! I am using Ableton Live 🙂🙌🏻
Which piano vst did you use here?
if i see one more person call a lead track a melody i will be donating an additional pair of kidneys to the hospital
