    First of all, thank you so much for this video. It is extremely well made, it's simple and straightforward.
    A couple of months ago I bought a Minolta SRT201 with a MC Rokkor-X PF 50mm f1.7mm lens. When I received it, the focusing ring was working, but nothing happened when it turned. I mean it rotated but the mechanism did not work. I searched for an online tutorial and found this video. I followed your instructions and disassembled the lens but, to my surprise, I could not tell what was wrong. I was disappointed but I started to reassemble it back. The thing is, when you start to explain the part about the infinity focus and so on, I found out that some of the screws had been to tight, maybe from a previous disassembly from the previous owner (who knows?).
    When I finished the job, the focusing ring was working properly (as far as I can tell). I just need to buy a new battery and load some film for the final test.
    Once again: a big thank you (from Portugal)!

    I came across this old, in great looking condition Minolta MC Rokkor-X PF with a stuck aperture control ring, the aperture blades are working smooth. I think maybe the bearing may be somehow jammed.

      It could be. Try removing the ball bearing and seeing if that makes a difference. Another possible cause could be that the mechanical coupling from the ring is causing problems. Just try taking things apart until the pieces start working properly, at which point you should have a pretty good idea where the problem lies. Good luck.

    So cleaning the elements of the lens should be fairly easy then? I just got this lens and its working great. Just some dust in the lens that im thinking about cleaning. Would it be possible to clean by only taking off the back glass assembly?

    hey Bratt Bierner. I got the Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm 1:1.4 . Is one of the tutorials on your channel similar to my lens?

    Hello again. I got to declick the aperture but it is too loose and changes to 2,8 all the time. Is there any work around that can be done to solve this?

    Hello, I bought this lens and as I can see, it is harder to disassemble than the rokkor x. I bought it for video so I just want to declick the aperture. Do I have to take everything apart or may I only need to remove a specific piece in order to proceed?

    • @Mattbierner
      @Mattbierner  Před 6 lety

      To de-click it, you only need to remove the ball bearing under the aperture ring. Just go in from the back of the lens. You should only have to remove the mounting plate to access the aperture ring

      Matt Bierner what size are the mounting plate screws? I was able to take the outer ring out but I cannot take the mounting plate out

    I believe I read the X signifies the North American version. No X, signifies the European version.

      Yes, you are correct. When I filmed this, I didn't understand that this branding was the only difference between the Rokkor-X and regular Rokkor lens
