  • During these uncertain times of COVID-19, we all need to find ways to relax. One way is to create new paintings in Deluxe Paint III with my Amiga computers. I created an image based on TRON, and in this video demonstrate some of the key tactics and techniques I used to create the artwork. I'm hoping this inspires others to do the same and find some peace along the way. More info:

      Hi, Vicky! It's so good to hear from you. I hope all's well in your beautiful new homeland. Thanks so much for the kind words and I can't wait to see your next work, too! We'll all just have to be patient. I've just started mapping my next idea out (it's going to be a real tough one, I think, but fun!). This work takes me back to my art school days and makes me feel younger than the crinkles around my eyes reveal. During these times of crisis and hardship, the arts can help some of us pull through, I like to think. The arts are what truly define us, you know what I mean? I deeply admire the incredible adventure you've partaken. Stay safe.

      @@AmigaLove Thank you! Yes all is well in Japan the sun is out! Setting a challenge is a good thing, the piece I put together for Amiga Ireland was a real push for me but if you start with an idea you can work towards it with enough patience and effort so I think your idea will be awesome! Yes I know exactly what you mean, I have been often saying to myself I have had to go backwards to go forwards in my life in the past 2 years, and whilst I too have a few more wrinkles now it's just experience, that's all :) I think the arts can pull us through, the power of the imagination can spark wonderful things in us, and in turn people feel uplifted seeing something that they connect with, that takes them away from whatever their reality's concerns are. It is indeed an adventure with many questions that I have taken but I know for sure there was nothing to be gained from staying where I was, life has taken a complete about turn for me but I know it's for the better and it means I can start sharing everything I love so much and bringing little pieces of joy into people's lives I hope :)

    Great video. Thank you. Reminded me of how I did things back then. I also used Photon Paint a lot in ham mode. Because I’m no artist, my major was getting a hand scanner for my Amiga. Naturally being black and white it made for great “stencil” starting points.

    If I remember correctly, you could also use the right mouse button on the canvas to apply the current tool with the background color. At least it works for shapes and builtin brushes. I almost want to even say it works with brushes in general but it's been so long that I forgot. Might have to try it out again and see lol

      Hi, thanks Amiten. Believe it or not I just use an iPhone. Video recording gets things pretty nice under most lighting conditions. For photographing my screen I use a special app that allows me to control the exposure. The contrast and vibrance sometimes take a hit but it removes the vertically moving scanbars nicely.

    Trying to get my Amiga 500 running Workbench 1.3 and Deluxe Paint III to be a better art station. I have a wacom ArtPad II serial digitizer pen that I know works with the 500, but I can't find Workbench 1.3 drivers for it (all I can find are for WB3.1). Anyone know where to find these? Also, are there any scanners that can be found for fair prices that will work with WB1.3?

    • @AmigaLove
      @AmigaLove  Před 3 lety

      Hi Matt. Regarding the scanners, I know there was a very good Epson scanner from back in the day that worked in 1.3. I'll see if I can hunt down the model number. But for me personally I have a hand scanner that can produce some really cool dithering effects in black and white. They made a color version of the scanner, too, but I only have the black and white version. It takes a bit of training to understand how to use it. Mine works in 1.3 and 2.0+. It was made by a local WA company named MiGraph. More: www.amigalove.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1420 I also have an ArtPad for my Amiga but have yet to hook it up and see how it goes. I've read that in some of the earlier software you'll gain mouse controls but not pressure sensitivity, especially in the early-days software.
