Wes Barker is a Canadian magician and comedian doing funny tricks, and telling great stories. You may know me from my TV show Big Trick Energy (truTV, HBOmax, Netflix). Watch here for hilarious, ridiculous, and unfiltered ideas with magic, stunts, and pranks. Either I'm the funniest magician who is also a stand-up comic, or maybe I'm the comic who is the best at magic? Either way you get the idea. I tour all over doing colleges, comedy clubs, and corporate events. Catch the adventures and tricks right here. With this magician / comedian from Vancouver, based out of Toronto, Canada. I make funny stuff. That’s my only rule. Everything has to be funny, from street magic to stage illusions, as long as there is a joke to be made. I do magic tricks, sketches, stand-up comedy, card tricks, mind reading, and tricks with naked people. I’ve been on America’s Got Talent, Penn & Teller: Fool Us, MTV Greatest Party Stories Ever, and Wizard Wars. You can find me pulling pranks on friends, gags on strangers, or just general sleight of hand, magic, illusions, and the occasional bar bet. Wes Barker also hosts a podcast with Chris Ramsay called Bottom Of The Barrel. Go check it out!

There's another cool variation if you're doing this as a fun kids project. Start with a wide-ish strip and cut one end in half for a couple inches. The glue the ends together into a loop, giving one of the split ends the half-twist, and the other end gets the full twist. You have to hide the tricked-out bit in your hand at first, but once you start cutting, the secret won't show. Cut the loop in half as a demo and you get two loops, no surprise.
Buuuut, give those two loops to a couple of kids to cut in half and they get the big loop/linked rings.
    Three cuts, three different results.

You can get linking hearts if you use 2 mobius strips, one twisted half turn to the left and another twisted half-twist to the right, then stick them together perpendicular to one another, then cut them both in half.
The great part about this is that it NEEDS to have one twisted one way and the other twisted the other way. You can do it to a group of people (e.g classroom, or audience if you're performing on stage) and ask them to follow you. You can see who follows instructions well, as if you twist them the same way you won't get hearts.

Loved it, did this trick for my wife (also have done “rate me” total hit. Loved the book, actually pre-ordered the paperback for the audiobook. Couldn’t help myself.) totally amazed her. (Also love BOB, Patreon is definitely worth it!)

Take it a step further and cut a mobius strip at the 1/3 line. You will need to "go around" twice, but the result is surprising!

Mobius Strip is... one plane... in 4 dimensions. In our 3D to make one we have to cut the strip and twist it. In 4D it's just one surface, no cutting or twisting required. Kinda like a single piece of paper (assuming its just a plane, not an object)... in 4D 😄 I hope I helped explain it 😊

The shape of the universe is most likely a torus (i.e., a doughnut-like shape).

NOW, tape two normal rings perpendicularly and cut them the same way, see what happens, and THEN tape two Mobius strips together perpendicularly, cut them and see what happens. There's the real magic! 😊
