Combat Patrol is the coolest thing I've heard about 10th edition so far, love the idea of buying two boxes and just playing. From what I've read it is not simplified rules, it's the full 10th edition 40k ruleset but you use different battlescrolls so they can balance units out. Curious to see if these battlescrolls will drastically change unit abilities or if they're just number tweaks.
Anyway, it has me hopeful that the Vanguard boxes are prep for a similar mode in AoS. Seems like a much more palatable onboarding for people who are on the fence about trying the game out.
I really like amulet of screams as a second artifact on mounted wight king with a gang of black knights as a recurrable mortal wound missile at the enemy back line
The Vyrkos pack alpha lets you go over the limit of units that CAN have multiple units or do have multiple units. Korsagi and corpse cart are SINGLE meaning they can never have more models in the unit. So ya sure FAQ it, but realistically they can't ever be reinforced to start, so they have a double rule limitation. They're like hybrid hero/infantry
Except allegiance abilities/warscroll rules trump the core rules, that is also in the core rules. So it needs the FAQ to shut it off. Now when they don't mention it (i.e. they say you can put something in reserve, but don't mention when you have to drop it by), that is then appealed to the core rules.
@@VinceVenturella ya I think they'll faq it, but I still stand by the fact that single models can't have more models added into the unit. So even though the most recent rule takes precedent, I don't think it directly interacts with units that can never have models added to the unit. That's just the way I see it.

I really like this book. I think you're out of your mind that you think it's better than OBR, but otherwise I agree with a lot of your points. This is one of my favorite armies to play (just slightly behind my goats, which have been felling a touch abusive in my local meta). What I really like about this army is that it has a high skill floor to get good games out of, and I'm the type of player that likes to try and solve the puzzle of my army. I also love that it feels like a flavor win, especially with zombies now actually feeling like zombies instead of this lightning fast elite unit that slammed into people like an ugly ludo narrative violating canker sore. It feels like spook strong vampire killers and there expendable, mindless meat throng which is all I ever want out of this army.
I played Vyrkos yesterday against Slaves to Darkness Cabalist, took 3 artefacts and Terminus Clock was good. Quite interesting for fun games.
56:00 I feel your pain there’s way too many armies that can ignore wards my maggotkin haven’t hit the table in months. Also Amulet of Screams seems amazing against new seraphon with the amount of casts slaan and kroak get

Just to make sure, if I play OBR and give -1 to hit (with Katakros, the spell or the Nexus) onto say a Legion of Blood VLoZD with Doomed Minions artefact, he will still hit on 2s on the selected units?
As for the vampire leech ability (Arkhan has basically the same thing), the healing is applied immediately after the attacks I think (so taking VLoZD as an example again, if he had lost 6 wounds and is fighting one of my units, if he attacks first, deals 6 wounds, he heals back to full before I get to fight back)?

You mentioned that it was important to note, that you have to pick the summonable unit before you roll the dice to try and return them. I just wonder why it matters? It felt like Tyler was about to ask. 😁
Because the hero is more powerful for it's optionality in creates in later turns. If I was able to roll first and see if I could succeed, I have to bank on the hero. THe timing would change your choice.

DO you mean add to their Charge roll? There is not. You could always have them in the grave and pop them up.

Since you mentioned the Khorne book, is it possible to make an army without demons that is decent? I like the marauding barbarians theme. I'm not asking for a 5-0 but I would like to have a fighting chance if I play well. SO all mortals, yay or nay?
Absolutely! The all mortals army is totally do-able and quite strong.

So, I've got a question for you Vince. You were wondering about the ability "Unstoppable Nightmare" for Avengorii and what its application might be. I think the best way to use it would be by Corner Charging a unit with a Monster, and at the same time charging the front of the same unit with a throwaway Summonable unit like Zombies(or 6" Cheater Piling-In with Dire Wolves for the *real* consistency). You make sure the unit encompasses as much of the front of the unit as possible to prevent a majority of that units models from piling in towards your Monster, use Unstoppable Nightmare, and when combat happens, the opponent will have to put as many of their attacks into your Summonable as they can, which means that you'll be able to fight twice with your Monster *and* deny Pile-In off a corner charge at the same time.
I'll readily admit that this is *pure* Theory-hammer, I haven't played with or even against New Soulblight at all. But I think that combo gives Unstoppable Nightmare more power and play than it might have initially seemed at first brush.(in theory)
TLDR: To me Unstoppable Nightmare seems like a combo-charge ability. One that can do some heavy lifting if you have good positioning.

It is in the core rukes that ward saves cannot be stacked, anything that would reallocate a wd or similar counts as a wards save and cannot be rerolled.
I am aware of that, but there is a loophole with wounds that are transferred to another unit that has a ward.

I would be fine with a (sub)faction having the ability to give artifacts and command traits to unique heroes. But I hate how it is done here by just adding a little modifier in the artifact and command trait sections. Feels like a tacked-on, half-hidden thing through the backdoor. If it was a real, spelled-out allegiance ability, I would be more ok with it.
I do think the Blood-born are cool. Definitely not a must have, but they offer a good ability and have the appropriate cost for a chaffy unit. While being more killy than most other chaff units at the same cost.
Do you think 4th Ed AoS will get heroes embedded into units like 10th Ed 40k?

I just watched a french review of the book with a player from the belgian team at worlds. They think the blood knights are really good. So there is a chance you guys missread them and Scott's dream is still alive :P

Why is 10 wounds the worst number of wounds on a monster?
On a Hero or Monster, basically because so many rules in the game trigger on 9W or less (cover, look out sir, and so on)

One of my favourite things about this army: No faction terrain or Endless Spells. It makes me so happy to not have to buy stuff like that, haha.
