You are the only person who mentioned how to choose colour of the carpet correctly! It makes so much sense . Consistent colours in open space layouts is everything! You must have a piece of furniture/decor in same colour as your kitchen in your living if you can see both. I know it for sure because I have 4 areas flowing from one to other (formal/chatting lounge area, formal dining, kitchen and then lounge area with tv) and was such a puzzle to tide together all 4!

Great video as always ❤ My house is coming together nicely from all your tips 🙂 I'd love to see a video on lighting a small open plan living area. I've watched your videos on lighting, but would love some more information about small spaces and chosing light fittings that match, without being to matching, but also not overwhelm the small space or block sightlines. I was planning on putting in pendant lighting over my kitchen bench when I was in the planning stage of my build, but now it's built, I feel like I can't get away with them if I also have a pendant light over my dining table as it will block the sightline to the dining area once when I walk in the room. I'm struggling to chose which area should be a feature and what type of lighting I should use.

I have 400sqft apartment with a small open living room/kitchenette floor plan. I love your ideas on making the space look bigger and more cohesive but do you have any videos or ideas on making the space flow but without feeling cluttered? This is a struggle for me. I have a corner fireplace. A sliding glass door, front door two stair ways and only two solid walls. It’s a small space. Any suggestions on furniture placement?
I bought a condo, and I guess in some misguided effort to make the bathroom look bigger, there was a huge bathroom mirror that ran from above the sink, across the full width of the wall down to the tub. The LAST thing I want to see when I step out of the shower is a full length mirror image of me stark naked, dripping and shivering. Nope! I now have a nice small round mirror above the sink....well away from the tub area. It actually makes the room feel bigger because of the open wall space now exposed.

Do you recommend light colors for a living room with not much natural light ?
I have had to move, and sadly although I have a 1 bedroom apt, not a studio, but my kitchen living room now is only 3.10x3.30 metres, so I love cooking, and have brought base units from the house I lived in previously, however if I fix in these base units it leaves very very tiny space for my new sofabed, which is needed for friends coming to stay, so am looking at how to make the best of this small space, but still have space to do my cooking and baking, so I do have a large terrace, so am wondering if using kitchen units outside, and maybe purchasing tall larder units to store all my kitchen needs.../ living room...I love colors and this small space also has 2 windows one on two separate outside walls...any ideas...thanks

hi Zahira, been following your channel for awhile now, as always very. informative. I need your thoughts pls for my upcoming reno. I have a 68 sqm loft 1bedroom condo with 18-20 ft high ceiling and non-obstructed windows, really. flooded with natural lights plus facing east, so it's morning sun, open concept to living, dining rooms ( same high ceiling) and kitchen (9 ft high ceiling) below my bedroom. I am into modern industrial, except no bricks (not for me) minimalist with black, white and gray color scheme with greeneries. I planned to change my kitchen( approx 5x6 sqm ) into black gray and natural or light cognac cabinetry, no handles, black or white quartz countertop and a small, rectangular, fixed island to house my induction stove with hanging, exposed range hood and some cabinets with drawers below. It is U-shaped right now to L-shaped with an island, one side with black farmhouse sink and end pantry or ??? concealed washer and dryer not sure, upper cabinets and pantry doors will be natural wood color, lower cabinets will be black. Other side with built-in oven and microwave, concealed, pull-out coffee station and integrated fridge at the end in black cabinets and doors, the opposite side is plain wall and door to a powder room and washer right now, any other suggestions pls or different ideas. Your thoughts are grately appreciated. More for my combined living and dining room furnitures arrangements to follow if you don't mind, pls let me know.
