ECOWAS | West African leaders’ summit opens in Abuja

West African leaders are meeting in Nigeria's capital Abuja to discuss challenges facing the region, including the move by Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger to break away from the bloc.
The meeting is coming just 24 hours after the three countries signed a pact to strengthen economic and defence cooperation under the Alliance of Sahel States.
