- Its been a long time coming, but I'm now in the finishing stages of getting the 4.5 back on the road. In this video I show you prepping the surface for the top coats. Repairing minor dents and blocking the surface to get a nice foundation. I am using a 2k single stage paint in this video. I refinish and restore Antique furniture for a living and there are many similarities to that kind of finishing when using Auto paint. Some of the techniques I use in this video I have gleaned from several sources. The best (IMO) video series of all things auto body and paint related is / @sylvesterscustoms I've been in the finishing trade for nearly 40 years so I recognize someone that knows what his talking about. Check them out in the link. Hope you enjoy. All the best John.
Outstanding. You are going to have two of the best looking Mercedes out there.
The front of this one maybe. LOL. I've started the buffing of the fenders, coming out great. I'll shoot some video of polishing the hood. Cheers Geoff! John.
Nice one John!! Looks great.
Thanks Chris. Can't wait to start driving it again. Cheers John.
I love the cream color John.
Thanks Tony.
Love your attention to detail. I am inspired.
Thank you so much Jackie!! Enjoyed our chat the other day. Glad you're happy with the cabinet and table. All the best John
John: I wacg all your videos. Are you painting base coat clear coat or single stage paint. Soon I will start on mu 4.5. I was tih king to go 2 stage paint but not sure if thats the good way to go. Best of luck
I'm using single stage. I will also be using a very high quality single stage on my 6.3. Personally I prefer the look of a ss paint. Theres an interesting article regarding this. I'll try and find it and post a link. Cheers John.
