Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about the Engineering Toolbox in the comments below! :)

I use this extension for the basic outline of steel shapes however, the shapes are NOT modeled to reference the actual steel product profile. The various dimensions of a steel shape are not in accordance with ASTM standards for structural steel. This difference is applicable when the steel profile is used to bolt steel to a mating surface requiring use of square spacer washers.

      Hi Justin!
Always a fan of your tutorial videos 🙋🏽‍♂️
Can you make videos for TEKLA?

Found a construction system for steel structures, which works really fine together with Sketchup. You don‘t even have to buy it, because there is a free trial which includes all features for connections and staircases and the BoM, and is running without time limitation. It is still running on my PC in combination with Sketchup.

how did you delete the beam and leave the profile behind? thank you for all the great videos

This can nicely tie in with your prior video on profile builder. Separately, PB also which also has a lot of metal and wood beam profiles in it's own library but likely not as comprehensive as this.

Thank you for sharing this. They now have the 2023 compatible version and so far works nicely with SU Pro 2023.

It's nice of them to provide the extension for free, but the way to add is old fashioned: a browser window, with an html table. It should be a simple slick interface with type-to-search so you can quickly add things. But - looking at how they did it, it could serve as inspiration for parametric driven extensions based on local storage.

Make sure you are in group edit mode. Try double clicking the group to access the geometry that makes up the group. Once you double-click into a group you should be able to select individual lines/faces or drag/box select many and delete as needed. Alternatively you can right click on the group and choose “explode”. Hope that helps. If you know all that and its still not working it may be a soften edges issue. Sometimes if edges are “softened” you cannot select individual faces or lines. To change this right click on the item and choose “soften edges” navigate to the small menu slider that it took you to and drag the slider to the left to reduce the amount of softened faces and show all lines. Then when you go back to drag select over everything and delete it should leave the only face (section profile) that you didn’t want to delete. Cheers, hope that helps!
