This tablet is far better than the ipad pro. Purely based on software. Even though its less powerful, dex and the apps make it a much more useful device.
How do blown up phone apps make it much more useful what android needs is more tablet apps and pro apps the iPad has 2 million tablet optimized apps
And thats precisely why the iPad is better. My tab s8 ultra crashed when watching 4k 60 yt videos for 10 mins, and there's been multiple instances where my tablet lags while swiping up to close an app entirely.

It was cool watching you use the device as a tablet. Most people only talk about using it as a laptop replacement but it's so thin it really does work well as a tablet despite the large screen size.
It’s definitely doable but it does get tiring after about an hour to be honest. With the right case this may be improved though, it’s just a shame the better case manufacturers (or accessories manufacturers in general) haven’t really paid too much attention to this tablet.

I'm currently stradding three ecosystems: Windows (Dell XPS), Android (S22 Ultra) and iPad Pro. Your videos about the S8 Ultra are making me think I'd be better off ditching the iPad for the S8. It looks like a great device, and I find the app reviews really useful.
Hi Lewis! Totally possible to mix and match these days. Depending on the workflow of course.
When I’m video editing I really need AirDrop so the Mac, iPad and the iPhone really work well together in that scenario. But for everything else, I don’t mind mixing the MacBook with the Tab S8 Ultra or just using the tablet, by itself.

Does the file explorer give access to termux home directory? I've only found material files for that and X-Plane otherwise.

@@AlexGTech Sim! E ao que tudo indica o aplicativo vai ter um bom suporte na plataforma também, inclusive um dos representantes da Luma participaram de alguns vídeos do Android Dev Summit. O que achei engraçado é a Google deixar para divulgar outros aplicativos que serão atualizados com interface para telas grandes apenas em vídeos de desenvolvedores com poucas visualizações. Haha
Hey Alex, thanks a lot for your recommendations. I just got my s8 ultra and have been looking for a mind mapping app just like the one you showed around 3:08 but I haven't had any luck finding it. Maybe my spelling is wrong? It sounds like you said it's called Zabs?
Thank you! It’s called Concepts, I haven’t used it for mind mapping though, but it might be possible. I’d say download the free version and see if you like it but there may be better mind mapping tools out there. I quite like to use “Miro” which I think can be used via a browser too

👍🙂 Fabulous video demonstrating the amazing S8u it is such a versatile tablet PC and powerful with DEX. I wont mention that silly fruit name but it sure is light yrs ahead of it and then some in many ways. I doubt I will be upgrading my 'fruit' pad for a long time if at all now as it has all but become redundant and has evolved into a sandwich / tea tray with keyboard cover attached 😁
Thanks Lee!! I definitely share the feeling there, they need to get moving with the iPad soon or many customers could jump ship. Or maybe not, but I’m certainly not jumping at the next iPad if it’s just a luxury tea tray 😂

Hi Alex, thanks for great reviews and videos first things first! Would mind giving me an idea? I have an 12.9 M1 Ipad which i am using for daily base work flow. Mailing, browsing, work on excel(formulas pivot tables etc.) video editing, drawing, designing, gaming , cloud gaming etc. Where i see , I Pad Pro is very powerful to complete all these tasks together, i find multitasking very awful despite the ipad OS 16.1 new features! This is where s8 ultra comes into my mind that dex mode is a brilliant feature which can save me from the rumble of ipad os multitasking lack. Here is my question; can i accomplish every task on S8 Ultra for my work flow which highlined above? what do you think about that?( I am not using a laptop but completely IPAD Pro). In addition i hate ghosting issues of 12.9 inch pro screen! Thanks for your answer in advance, cheers
The problem with android tablets is that most of the iPad apps you use on your iPad are not on android it took android 7 years to get LumaFusion the amazing video editing app
do you know how to connect a high power usb devicer to the tab becuase i am unable to see the files on the usb
I’m using a few different options, but the best so far is to use a hub that takes PD via USB-C and connect it via the monitor. That way I’m killing two birds (monitor for Dex and powered USB) the hub I recommend in this video works well and both monitors I’m using support that.

How are you powering it? depending on the SSD you chose, it may require higher voltage. I use mine mostly connected to my monitor which provides the hub with 100W (I believe, will double check), which I then use to power the Tab S8 or my laptop. I'd definitely try to check the power as I've noticed that when I moved from a SATA SSD to NVMe

Yes video editing is the one feature keeping me mostly on my MacBook Pro during the day. Would love some of that functionality on a tablet too 👊🏼
Not a big video editing guy but check out Juan bagnell's channel I think he has a couple of go-to solutions 👍

On ipad like notablity and .. are there any good note taking app on samsung ?
Samsung notes, drawnote, penly, one note,notewise. There’s also a app called jnotes which is pretty similar to goodnotes.
Do you use these apps with Dex on your Tab?
Personally I'm a regular Dex user, both on my Tab and my phones. Love it!
Definitely alternating between Dex mode and purely on the tablet, most of them work well on Dex actually
Hi Alex, can you transfer from Google Drive to OneDrive using Solid File Explorer?
Yes you can and if you are transferring large files you can change the battery settings of the app to “Unrestricted” so it doesn’t get interrupted while working in the background.

Hello....I bought the samsung tab s8 plus and sandisk extreme pro ssd 2 TB....when I plug the external ssd it is identified by the tab s8 plus but when I start transferring big files after around 2-3 minutes the the transfer is stopped and there is a message the usb device is disconnected although the cable is stable and in place...after after 20-30 seconds android reidentify the external ssd...this very external ssd works perfectly with my ipad an laptop....any ideas how to solve it? Is it a faulty tablet?
Hi there, this sounds like the behaviour when the SSD is not getting enough power. I do have a Sandisk extreme too and haven't noticed this behaviour using the app I showed in this video. To be honest though I haven't tried moving larger amounts of files but will try it next and let you know. The other consideration is power, maybe ensure the Tab is not in power saving mode or anything like that.

Hi there, so I have just tried to move a folder with 130 files, total 17GB and it finished it in 7 minutes. I used the SanDisk extreme (2TB) connnected directly to the Tab S8 ultra. And I used the app I mentioned in this video to transfer the file. The transfer speed oscialted between 35/40 MB/s. I recorded the transfer if you want to see it, I can email it to you or maybe upload it as a private video for you.
@@AlexGTech thank you this is what I thought would happen as the sandisk extreme ssd is very reliable and works well for me with other tablets and pc... hopefully it is a manufacturer problem with my tablet I delivered it to the local samsung technical center for technicians examination...we'll see if it's repairable or should I get a new tablet

Samsung Notes is awesome actually. Garageband is definitely in a league of its own, but with LumaFusion coming to the TabS8 this year it will bring a lot of creatives over. Might not be long until a DAW developer follows suit...

I slowly realize that I bought bad S8 tablet. Just two days ago I realize, that it works very well for Remote desktop to my office PC which I using for work from home. With S8+ it is fine but Ultra will give me much bigger screen. I choose S8+ becouse of weight and size as it is more comfortable to use in hands, but after few 1+ hr gaming session, S8+ is not that light as I though...With S8 Ultra I can forget my laptop for work from home and daily computer use easily. Maybe in future I will replace my Macbook for big 14" tablet like S8 Ultra and will pair it with smaller 11" tablet (probably iPad) for use in hands and mobile gaming... I hate play games on small phone displays.
I agree, the bigger tablets are great for gaming! With more apps for graphic design and video editing I could see lots more people using the tablet as their main machine in future

Because android cannot modify NTFS formatted memories, I recently discovered it too.

@@doublelu22 you asked about a Galaxy Tab s8 and on that I answered, my s8 ultra cannot modify a memory formatted in NTFS, I have nothing from Huawei. The Android version installed in Samsung devices does not allow it, only reading.
@@michelenichisolo-dreamtofl4128 I meant if latest Samsung Galaxy Tab is the best , they should have allowed modifying NTFS . U know even Huawei doesn't have GMS and it can do exactly what I wanted to do ( delete files from my HDD with my phone or tablet )

@@doublelu22 it almost certainly does not do it for economic reasons and not to steal customers from the PC market, since in many other functions it supplants it (not in use pro obviously).

Yeah that’s good too actually! I just really like the interface and ease of use of Solid Explorer. File commander is great for converting files but these days I personally don’t use it anymore. Good shout though!
