The nurse was convicted on Friday of murdering seven babies and trying to kill another six at the hospital where she worked in north-west England, making her one of the country's worst child serial killers. Sunak said it was cowardly for those who commit crimes to not face their victims' families. He confirmed an independent inquiry would be held into the circumstances behind the murders, although that decision has been criticised for falling short of a full public inquiry.

The question is how would the law be enforced? If the Defendant was in the dock for sentencing and decided to disrupt the proceedings by shouting etc, would the court have to stop and wait until the defendant is quiet before carrying on. How many times does the court give the defendant to be quiet before sending him/her to the cells. Once in the cells will the court be able to sentence without the defendant or will they have to wait until the defendant returns.
Easy for a coward to call someone a coward. Sadly, Lucy Letby and anyone else can rest assured that if Sunak is saying something is going to happen, it won't- he can't even get Nadine Dorries to turn up for work!!. This is just another episode of Sunak saying what he thinks the public want to hear but in reality, he'll do nothing. As usual.
While it’s no to close to the same level of depravity as the Letby case, I didn’t hear a word from Sunak when Johnson resigned rather than face the House of Commons. Sunak is a spineless and is fighting for last place among recent Tory prime minister.

I always thought when sentence was pronounced the guilty person was in the dock , when was that changed ? Hiding away is very vexing for those families who lost their babies , she should be in the dock facing the court .

Well… She’s spending the rest of her life in prison, however long or short her life will be. What really needs to be done is a thorough assessment of her mental state.
The amount of times I’ve read that she does not fit the profile of a serial killer suggests that this could happen again in the future.
What really sparked it? As well as why was her management so fooled into thinking it was all just coincidental? I doubt it’s as straightforward as oh… she’s just evil.
I’m no expert on mental health but… my first thoughts on this case were that of someone being highly delusional, with a warped view of themselves.
Not saying she’s schizophrenic but judging by what has been reported to media, her case does share some familiarities with schizophrenia… especially some of the content from her private journal.
