I would recommend trying thibra! Another thermo plastic but much smoother and best for this filigree type of look, much more malleable though so having an impression or mold to pop it in for some designs
I know you probably are so busy with commissions that you seldom make stuff for yourself, but I would love to see a plus size version of one of these dresses for you!
I have a final project for the end of my semester to make a dress from scratch so this is giving me some good inspo The final project isn't until like two months from now but I'm really excited once I get basic pattern drafting down
What class is it for? Also I highly recommend starting it now. It is always a good idea to give yourself a little extra time to play with and allow yourself to try ideas and see what you like and don’t like. It is also good to give yourself time to work out the little problems that will inevitably arise. My first full length gown made from a pattern I drafted took a year and three versions to make the final product that I love. Granted, I was brand new to sewing, didn’t know fabrics well, and was too intimidated to draft my own pattern for the first two attempts, so the first attempt was the wrong fabric, the second attempt was the wrong pattern, and the third attempt I finally got the proper materials and drafted a pattern and made the dress I had been wanting to make for so long. It was Giselle’s pink dress from the beginning of Enchanted.
As a cosplayer, Rust-Oleum Prime and Fill is your best primer for Worbla. I've never had luck with wood glue, but Prime and Fill works every time. It just takes a heavy hand and a little sanding.
Worbla also has transparent, black and white varieties. The white is much smoother than the original used here. Black is also quite smooth. Also, you don't need a heat gun to warm it up, a hair dryer on it's highest setting will do.
I now know what to do with a beautiful gown that was donated to my shop that has no decoration on it but has this beautiful free-flowing bottom and I had it first one to hand diet but I think handling and adding that type of a corset would be perfect although I think I have a different idea for the corset I don't want it to be stiff or restrictive I think I'll go with the shaped wool felted Vines instead but the idea is there to make it look so beautiful and realistic thank you so much
you should try foam clay!! it's really moldable and you can use water to smooth bits out so you don't have to sand as much! then it's still a little flexible when it dries down so it'd be great for something form fitting like this
The working time on thermal plastic beads (at least that I’ve used) is pretty short though, and require getting to the temp of boiling water to make maleable, which makes them hard to handle bare-handed. I’ve personally found thermo plastic beads better for more solid forms or using with molds - but maybe that’s just me so take that w a grain of salt as that’s only ONE person’s experience with ONE brand of beads.
It's look beatiful you are so talented✨
Same and yes !!
Right

Such an interesting use for it! I'd love to see the back where the laces got put in.
Its very pretty! I do feel like it would be very restrictive though. It seems like if you try to bend down or stick your elbows forward it would snap
I love that I would so wear that over a wedding dress
I read that as “eleven” and was trying to remember where I’m stranger things she is dressed like this lmao

the price of worbla has me crying as a cosplayer

You can find thermal plastic beads that are cheaper than the worbla. An that plastic is a lot smoother

I’ve personally found thermo plastic beads better for more solid forms or using with molds - but maybe that’s just me so take that w a grain of salt as that’s only ONE person’s experience with ONE brand of beads.
I will add - they DEF come out smooth and lovely though so you are 100% correct there
Looks hella amazing
That is beautiful!!!!
Sooo beautiful😳 you are amazing ♥️💞♥️
Wow! Congratulations 👏🎉
Equal parts moldable plastic and corn starch or flour. Look it up it's called polyarmour. Easy, cheap. Works exactly the same.
