Set between the films Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, the game begins with Darth Vader being sent by Emperor Palpatine, his Sith Master and ruler of the Galactic Empire, to hunt down a Jedi named Kento Marek, who survived the Great Jedi Purge and is hiding on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. Throughout the first level, the player assumes the role of Vader as he fights his way through the Wookiees in search for Marek. After defeating Marek in battle and killing him, Vader discovers his child, Galen Marek, who is strong with the Force, and raises him to become his apprentice, unbeknownst to the Emperor.
We never get tired of this game. We've done it before, but with Rise of Skywalker coming out, it felt right to redo it in 4K on Max Settings. We hope you enjoy! We'll also do the Ultimate Sith Edition with the Dark Side Ending and Dark Side DLC's.

The moment that hits me the most is when Proxy, just after finishing a transmission with Vader says "I really hate being him" and Starkiller replies "I think he does too".
Makes Vader a more sympathetic character
Vader is a rare form of tragic evil. He’s struggled through so much it broke him and now he does bad shit because he’s lost. He couldn’t cope with his failures and hence Vader was born.
OK. There are two versions of this though which you prefer is entirely up to you.
*Legends* Vader is completely self-aware and fully acknowledges that all of his suffering and everything he's lost is his fault. He despises himself and wallows in guilt. He forces himself to serve Palpatine and be the villain as a form of self-inflicted hell. While he wishes he was dead, he does not seek death as he wants to be punished for what he has done. He acts as the villain because he hates himself and no amount of torment he inflicts on himself is enough.
*Current Canon* Vader still feels the same amount of pain and loss from the destruction of the Jedi, his crippling, and Padme's death. However, he is obsessed with order and bringing order to the galaxy. He tries desperately to instill order no matter the cost to justify all that he's lost. No amount of death or destruction is too much if it brings a galaxy at peace with Vader desperate to make sure all he's lost isn't sacrificed in vain. He still retains tremendous guilt and self-loathing but it is unconscious and manifests in an intense hatred for how he was (Anakin Skywalker). Vader will do anything to avoid confronting his guilt and shame making him perpetually pissed off and a seething mass of quiet rage. Here he continues as vader because he's come too far to give up and believes it will all be worth it in the end.

When Vader first sees him and says “A son” you can tell a piece of Anakin surfaced for a second. He remembered what he once might’ve had, those subtle details are what made this game so damn good

Yeah, his reaction in this version is far better than in the Wii, Ps2, and Switch version, where Vader says that line in an unamused voice while adding an "oh" at the start of the sentence.

I find it clever that Proxy's posture and walking alters based on who he's looking at or who he is trying to mimic. It's the little things that makes it amazing

This game has one of the coolest subtle mechanics I have ever seen in a Star Wars game. There’s an upgrade you can purchase that allows you to use a more Jedi-like saber technique, but it requires you to be calm and methodical in the midst of combat, as the Jedi teach their disciples to be.
Alternatively you can mash the attack button quickly and frantically, in which case he will use the standard/Sith technique. It’s quicker and ultimately easier, just as Yoda said the Dark Side is in Empire.
I think the true enemy of the dark side is an apathetic enemy.

Part two of the game is two short
You can hear Vader’s slight sorrow as he first sees Galen reminding him of padmé and her pregnancy. This makes him even more lovable as his anger leaves for just a split second

It’s too bad Starkiller was only in 4 games. Force Unleashed 1 and 2, Soul Caliber 4, and Lego Star Wars 3. It’s also a shame he was labeled “Vader’s Apprentice” in Soul Caliber 4 and Lego Star Wars 3.

Oooh, I just realized Starkiller learned meditation from Kazdan's using the Force to move all his junk around. That definitely explains his using the Force to reassemble his lightsaber.
I just realized starkiller has the same lightning as palpatine. Im guessing the difference in color means Palpatines is stronger, or darker from the force like how lightsabers go red.
jovedo27 Sith lightsabers are red because the sith make their kyber crystals bleed by filling them with their hatred and anger.
After going through Clone Wars, I can see how that could work. Dooku and other sith usually has blue lighting, Sidious and Starkiller has purple as more powerful, and The Brother as red showing how powerful he is with the Dark Side

In Legends, there are two ways to get Crystals for Lightsabers, neither is Light or Dark, it just depends on the circumstance. You could either A) Make a Crystal yourself given the right materials. Or B) Find a Crystal on a planet or area rich with Crystals. Sith prefer to make their own since they don't like to rely on the Force and are denied access to planets like Illum. Jedi prefer to find their Crystals because they trust in the Force unlike the Sith.

Starkiller's arc is more interesting than Rey's Mary Sue story. He was brought to the Dark Side of the Force by Darth Vader, and chose the path of Light after being betrayed by his master/father-figure twice. Plus, his love for Rogue Shadow's pilot Juno Eclipse, in addition, the start of the Rebellion. We need another Force Unleashed game... or give him a Star Wars story!

This story is so well written, in the context of a video game. By far my favorite story of Star Wars. Sadly, it's no longer Canon.

Besides just being really fun to play, this game's enemy design was top notch. Those armored Royal Guards and Shadow Guards are still some of the most badass Imperials we've ever seen.

A variation of this game should’ve been made canon. Imagine Galen, Kota, Hera Syndulla, Proxy, and Ahsoka. Galen being tempted by Maul after Cal Kestis and Merrin leave Maul trapped on Malachor V after the events of Fallen Order 2.

The Jedi Temple level is after Imperial Kashyyyk. What made him seek knowledge about his father in the Jedi Temple was his vision of him on Kashyyyk.

I love this game. I can't stand the sequel though. It was so bad. For me, Starkiller's story ended when he sacrificed himself for the fledgling Rebellion.
