Who are you?
Thanks pookie
Love the weekly how to win at chess on Sundays. I know he mentioned the views are less, but this is some of my favorite content from him. I watch this series on repeat.
I like how the 1100 player is playing the Benko gambit one of the hardest openings to learn and master
Agreed.. it's complex yet he did his best..
that is, in the long run, probably going to pay off for him
Levy is giving the "only for you my friend" Vibe from the course disounts
Cool it with the anti semitism.
just in case gotham changes it the original title was "ONLY FOR TODAY!!!!!!!!!"
"ONLY FOR TODAY!!!!!!", 6 exclamation marks
Part 2 czcams.com/video/FPwuLfdJdDM/video.html
@jankkhvej434 yeah. What a blunder
Here before this goes viral.
It is still that
The first guy played very well for an 1100
Was it you?
He was using an engine so he didn’t look stupid. Then he “collapses” like a regular 1100.
Imagine Levy somehow got stuck at 1100. I know it would never happen but the idea is just kind of funny.
@@lateniteboredyou're just mad because he's better then you kid
@@lateniteboredno there’s some 1100s who know ton of theory
I'm kinda impressed that no one ever tried to cheat against Levy in a "How to win at Chess"
people totally do
Happens all the time. When he is certain he plays a machine in a format like rapid 5 minutes, he has won several games by playing so defensively that the machine loses on time. Quite a feat, really!
there's one instance of someone cheating against levy in how to win at chess, it was a 2000 elo who later got banned, and lost to time against levy
It's happened. Also on his rating climbs
There’s one episode where a 900 plays better than all of his other opponents. Sketchy play
"lowest elo of around 1100-1200" ... me watching this as a 400 elo :(
400 elo chess is full of blunders. to become 800 elo all you have to do is focus on not giving away pieces for free. let your opponent make the mistakes and punish them.
do quizzes, learn the basics of an opening and basic tactics (pins, skewers, forks, discovered attacks) and play longer (15 min+) games
me watching it as someone hardstuck on elo 1000-12000 for about a year now🥶
16:42 Levy: Stop playing hope chess.
Also Levy: Let’s see if my opponent sees it.
I won 4 matches with 89.9 % accuracy avg felt like i am king of world went to tournament lost now crying
dam
Yeah something similar happened to me. Seriously depressing shit
@@ThatOneChocolateAddict i am levy's regular viewer and i am sad because he dont make any video like top 10 tactics
Try to get the opening consistent.
Got me 300 points
@@Mr_CyberCookie i tried bruh i am 1700 from 1 year its like stagnant i win 4 matches then lose four
1:22
That laugh 💀
I'm like 90% sure that the 1500 had no idea that c4 had any tricks, and about 75% sure that the 1700 didn't see the trick after h5
Great stuff again. I appreciate how you don't edit out games you're not happy with. Also, with regards to the theme of the series, the games show how to win, even if on occasion it's your opponent, or when the position gets to the point where one should see a draw as a win. As much as those may hurt, they are instructive; maybe sometimes even more as you can explain what you were thinking, and what you missed, when the game goes awry! It's all part of the plan after all. :)
This is a beautiful opinion of
yours, thank you for appreciating GothamChess as much as I do
The series was about Levy having hard times vs low rated players and man, he had it and man, we had fun.
I love how the first guy doesn't see the double fork as an 1100 but I stg my opponent sees that 9/10 times at 500 ELO
You stg? What does it mean?

at this point i just watch anything he throws out there😂
Levy’s Good I didn’t follow for awhile usually only Agadmator and Epic Chess but I like a lot of Levy’s Content and his personality
"I'm not going to let my opponent have fun" the general sentiment I feel goes through everyone who plays head hahs
2nd title was How To Win at Chess FOREVER
1:20 Guys chill, he was just eating rocks, don't make fun of him.
I was deployed and too busy for the last 6 months to really watch levy or play chess, I am even more terrible than I already was. I missed you Levy.
i missed you too
It happens just don't get discouraged remember we play chess cause we think it's fun
Thank you for your service
Don’t other guys where you’re at play chess ♟️
Stop serving ZOG.
this is my favorite series, so glad that you're back to posting these regularly 🙏🙏
my fav series! this one was super informative for the lower level players that have those blunders and misses majority of their games :D thank you for keeping that in and showing how to recover/hold a position
Bought your book recently and even though i consider myself a pretty seasoned well rounded chess player I enjoyed it a lot! Cheers
You mean you bought.. The boooook!!!
1:13:07 i love how both of them missed Na5 which just traps the queen in one move
Love the how to win at chess series and respect that even if you lose or draw you take it well and still post it. Pls keep doing this series
Heyyy gotham please keep uploading these win at chess videos i find them super duper helpful!!
Levy never fails to fill me up with 102 mins of educational content
😂
Thank you Levy for your content! I just started to play chess and the way you explain every move is fascinating. Thank you again!
Thank you for still making this series!
This series is really helpful. I have not really played a lot of games, but the mid-game ideas really help me a lot (although I still fall into traps like being forked etc lol)
This series is my favourite thanks, i binged it when i started chess and boosted my elo
At 1:39:31 I think your opponent had a nice idea to play pawn takes knight f6 and after QxQb3, the opponent can play pawn f7 threatening Rh3 mate. You would still be winning but you would have to sac your bishop on f6 to allow whites king to escape to g7( if RxBf6 then white can play Re1+ leading to mate. If PxRe8 then white can take back with rook and be up the exchange). Good luck on becoming GM levy!
Hey Gotham, it would be good to know the game review rating for you, proving or helping you know that you did play like a 1100 or 1500 or not
Very good idea 💡 to start with the best players. I wonder why you didn't think of that earlier. Its obviously the way to go.
Please don't stop making this series. It's the only series I religiously watch.
I love this series. Keep em coming Gotham
I love it when you show your struggles with chess... makes me feel better for always throwing my phone after every game...
I like the idea of playing stronger opponents first. Or splitting up the games over two sessions. Love the series.
I like how you know that you have to take on Checkers. That's how my dad plays, but none of my friends growing up thought it was a real rule.
My dad wants you to stop posting chess videos because he said “He is getting to hard to beat”
Levy you’re still a truly wonderful coach. Would love to see some more common openings, like just play the open Sicilian instead of a3. Titled players never want to get into a theory battle with lower ranked but those are the lines we the viewers see and play so much and would be helpful. A bit more E4 E5 to see all the Italian and Spanish and scotch lines. Thank you for what you do.
@ 1:34:48 I understand it would be great to take black's white square bishop, but why not exchange it for knight, instead of Levy's excellent light squared bishop?
E4,c5 sicilian i like the immediate d4 the Smith-Morra Gambit
I love those longer videos! :)
I really enjoy this series. I learn so much! Thanks for sharing your knowledge of the game in this way.
That was a great episode Levy thanks ! I really enjoyed when you explained the finishing skills with the 2 queens. I think you could make a whole video on chess finishing skills especially for blitz. Sure people can teach you openings and tactics and strategies and matting patterns and pawn play, but finishing skills, that's what wins games especially blitz and bullet games. I forget some of these finishing techniques especially in low time. I cant seem to think of many chess content out there on finishing skills... sure knight and bishop but there's a whole lot more finishing skills out there. How well do you know them all ? Thanks Gotham... " FINISH HIM "
Levy never fails to have seen that move.
great to see longer videos again. super instructive!
O.K. boomer
this has become my new favorite series especially watching these while fasting
I like how you opted taking the knight going a piece up and just going about winning the game after that a good game by your opponent but a way better game by you especially the endgame Grabbing that passed pawn after threatening checkmate with your rook and knight that worked out so Great
Thank you for bringing this series back Levy
This series is my favourite. Keep it up. Thank you.
I won 11 straight game last night to reach 1326 rating using Gotham course
Did levy just hang his queen, Na5 in 1:13:14 position.
Got 4 of your courses. Definitely the money’s worth. I just finished Caro but I’ll give it another onceover before redoing tactics mc. Then I’ll tackle endgame mc that’s really advanced stuff.
I personally got the caro and middle games courses, haven’t finished the caro course but so far it’s been super insightful. Definitely worth the money
@@sorablank9954 yeah and once is not enough to get all those courses can offer. Its a good idea to get 3-4 of them and then put on repeat for a while, but in alternation.
And you may want to complete middlegames before Caro. It’ll help you understand the ideas of Caro course better.
And @GothamChess, cover Ruy Lopez and king’s Indian please! I’ll get them as soon as you put them up!
0:26:59 that discord ping confused the heck outta me. why bro
Please don’t stop the Sunday uploads I love this series
"My brain just gets fried after staring at the screen for 90 minutes" Next time start with the rating 2200-1200
I SAW QUEEN TAKES D4 ON THE 2ND GAME DOES THIS MAKE ME A SUPER GM NOW
Bro just trying to get rid of the kid shock gets another shock from a 2200.😅
This 1100 has to be the best prepared 1100 in the world. Insanely good opening for 1100
28:01 i thought you had an idea but you just captured back
Playing the toughest opponent first might be better for future episodes? Fresh mind is so strong
Levy never fails to pronounce frappé wrong and annoy the Greek audience
Is that the best you can think of? Copy the same 3 year old comment and repeat it like the rest
Gotham could you make more Vienna game content, love the Vienna, u introduced me to it tbh, but I wanna learn more
the giggle at 1:20 is the best thing ever
53:39 If i was with black,i woulda played long castle. Is something wromg with that?
Levy never.
Part 2 czcams.com/video/FPwuLfdJdDM/video.html
At this point the comment in the next video will be something like "Levy."
Shits old af and played out
1300 aren't as dumb (Bad) as you think Levy! tactic at 27:03 wasn't too crazy, especially for 1500. I think tactically, 1200-1500 are 'strong' (least for their level). Positional play is what's difficult. My tactic rating is like 2100
53:54 rg1 threatening windmill
i appreciate all the content levy but i just love tournament recaps more than anything (probably historical games also)...
Hope some tournament starts soon...
I always look at how many decor items u have on that one little table- i think it would look really great if you hung some of them on the wall instead! Less cluttered + we could see them all more easily
Normal people seeing a 2200 be like who is this beast ?
Hikaru : who is this random ?
that 1100 played really well ngl huge props to him
22:34 I did that in a 950 game. Then they later ignored my queen's diagonal.
Love this series Levy!
Thnk you i love these kind of videos it helps me a lot understand how i should play
why did levy play against my stand
This is my favourite series now ngl
gotham do it like you start with the best, then go down to the worst, then back up to the best. you get multiple games within the same elo range and you will be more fresh throughout. And... most importantly... MORE CONTENT!!!! Love you gotham my brother x
today's title - "ONLY FOR TODAY!!!"
Touché Levy
That was scary for a moment that discovered check that could’ve made you lose your Queen if you hadn’t seen it I’ve done that to opponents before it’s the kind of thing you definitely have to be aware of
never.
I would love a montage of every time he’s said “and my opponent is not in live chat/ online/ ready” 😂
37:00 Qa2, game over but levy didnt find that😅
This is awesome learning content. Thanks Levy!!
First opponent played some great moves for an 1100. Wish they would have seen Qc8.
Levy changed the Title 😂
Gotham, i come here in my grandma's account to thank you for my whole evolution at chess. I began studying it at 2022, being a 800 who just playes casually. Now i'm 2000 and can finally say: i did it sir
Apparenty, the first person he went against was naethan apollo!
Your second cousin ? Your neighbor ?
Gadies and Lendlemen
@GothamChess could you at some point explain how to use the evaluation bar correctly when analyzing games? For example, computer says 0.7 advantage for a particular move but my move is 0.5 advantage, did I make a mistake? How big of a difference is too much? Thank you!
37:00 If you gave a check with the queen before taking the rook wouldn't it have been a free rook?
I can't wait to win at chess only for today and never again, thanks Levy
It’s interesting to watch the games live and then come back to hear the commentary with it
Great video. Not a shocker because your how to win at chess series is always highly informative.
i saw na5 like instantly and was so confused how first Levy didnt and then the opponent didnt even play it i thought i missed something but nope
me actively checking discord
levy: sorry that was my discord
Your series is always a highlight of my week, and I genuinely look forward to it every time! Don't worry about the last game - . Keep up the fantastic work!
White after bxa6 in the line you played is now a tempo up.
