MATERIALS:
- knitting needles (I used US 10 sized needles)
- yarn (I used medium 4 yarn in a beige colour)
- crochet hook (optional, used to lace hat together, could use actual yarn sewing needles instead)

Measurements:
1-3 years: 18.5 width x 6.3 in height - (47 x 16 cm
4-10 years: 19.6 width x 7 in height - (50 x 18 cm)
12-16 years: 20.8 width x 7.5 in height - (53 x 19 cm)
Adults: 21.6 width x 8.2 in height - (55 x 21 cm) (this is the one I used, it was slightly too big but still fit ok once I folded the edge up! the rest of the measurements don't include the length to fold the hat edge up so keep that in mind)

For anyone who is a super beginner I recommend checking out the long tail cast on method! It’s what I learned first and seems easier to me , it only requires one needle while casting on :-) btw I’ve been looking for a knit cat beanie tutorial forever and so can’t wait to make this
Yes! I love doing this cast on method with my projects, it's easier to me and may be for others!
If you want the Vs on one side of your work, you have to alternate pearl stitch rows. Meaning 1st row knit, 2nd row pearl, next row knit etc.

Hey there! I'm glad I found this. I have been wanting one of these hats and I have some beautiful yarn. I've tried to learn crochet (and just can't get the hang of it today) I CAN knit though. Not really well, but I can totally handle this. Thank you so much! Also, when you start a new skein of yarn, re-roll it. (into a ball) That way, you take care of any tangles before you start your project.

Lol at first all i could do was the first chain but for the life of me i couldn't do the second line lmfaaooo
So don't loose hope i know you can do it once you get past that second line you'll be crochetting like a machine haha.

Then I realized you like Minecraft from the decor in your room, and also realized you go to UBC, which I live in BC (a bit inward from Vancouver, though ahah) so this was really cool to see someone like me making this. For the yarn tangles, you want to rewind a skien into a center pull ball. Some local yarn stores will do it for you when you buy the yarn or you can invest in a hand crank ball winder.
If someone wants to do this with circular needles to knit a tube, the cast off and top seam could be done at the same time. You split half the stitches on to one needle and the other half on another (so stitches 1-40 on one and 41-80 on the other) and then use a third needle of the same size to cast off whilst alternating which needle the yarn is being cast off (cast off stitch 80 to stitch 1 then to stitch 79 then stitch 2) working your way back and forth one stitch at a time unto you cast stitch 41 off on to 40. Then snip the working yarn &weave in the end before stitching off the cat ears.
And scrap bits of colorfast yarn could be used to stuff the cat ears before sewing them off.
I really like how you’re utilizing the tools you have and you have a every nice consistent tension thru out the entire piece, I’ve been crocheting for over 10 years but knitting very rarely and this was actually a very nice reminder of the works. Very clean look, I personally am going to attempt a 2x2 rib patterns but do the same dimensions you did, so I hope it runs out well!

Hi guys- for me, i found it harder to figure out how many stitches i should cast on, since my head is quite small. So, here are some things i figured out, but dont trust me too much! Trust ur heart (and head) :)
If ur between the ages 10-14 i would suggest 60-75 stitches
If ur between 15-19 I would say 70-75
If ur 20 or above, probably 80 if u have a normal sized head- if your head is bigger then maybe 85-90. If ur head is smaller and u are 20 or older, try 70

Tip from me about your yarn being tangled, i dont know if you pull the yarn from the middle or if you pull it from the outside but i take the yarn from the outside and it never gets tangled, as long as you dont pull the yarn out A LOT a lot. 😊

So you asked for a tip to keep you yarn from tangling you can roll it into a ball or pull from the center of the skein. Also for the amount of stitches you have you can try circular needles so you can fit the stitches and also you won’t have to worry so much about losing stitches they won’t be so squished.

There are two ways to have your yarn not get tangled. 1. Make a ball out of it, 2. place your thumb and start to wind the yarn around it and leave a tail (don't do tight) so that the tail will be the yarn your knitting.

one way i found very easy to do to not make the yarn tangled around is to start knitting by pulling the inside yarn. so you knit from inside out.
a tip abou the tangel i would recommend that you take the yarn from the outside and not the middle

This is how you keep your arm untangled keep it and the ball or like the rectangle you have and if you do pull a lot put it back in there and just when you need more pull it so then you don't have a huge knot
mine ended up way too big for my head i started with 81 like you then i shrunk it down to 50 and it was STILL TOO FREAKING BIG FOR MY HEAD i ended up turning it into a crop top
