14 year old Greek technician here. So, you mentioned your Asus DVD drive doesn't recognize the Mini DVD'S? The model of the DVD drive that your Asus has, is the same model my laptop DVD drive is, and it reads it perfectly fine. Maybe the dvd drive tried to seek for a file that was out of range and the laser just..lost focus. That maybe be a seek error. I personally use a program that will automatically calibrate the speed and scanning patterns for your DVD drive. I hope I helped! 😊

Thank you, needed one for exact same reason, old camcorder disks. Bought one that didn't work so this was very helpful. Cant you just copy the files to your computer?

You can but you won't be able to play the files. You need to rip them using software like Handbrake. Check out the video I posted just after this one. I go into detail about that.

You can also buy clip on adapters that extend an 8cm disc to 12cm.

I have the same setup but when I put my mini dvd in, it tells me that my disc is blank but it isn't, any tips?

Make sure the disc is finalized. Put it in the camcorder and try finalizing it.
