- The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is the biggest Earth sciences meeting in the world, and I went to San Francisco to take part in it!
In this video series I'll be taking you with me through the scientific conference and the sights of San Francisco, starting off with the incredible Exploratorium!

I am Simon, a third year PhD candidate at the University of Exeter. I upload videos on bits of science which are relevant to what I do, and sometimes just because they're really cool.

Awesome vlog! Can't wait to see the next episode!
Nice seeing Home again.
Like I wrote to you before, San Francisco is the best place to find variety of cuisine.
Just came across this channel. It's freaking awesome. Keep up the good work!
Thanks! I'm really glad you watched the AGU videos as I'm really proud of them but hardly anyone has watched them haha
"It's like 2001 but backwards" that's the best thing I've heard all day.
+gurrashpal My god! It's full of stars!
It's interesting to watch foreigners' perspective of America. The SF Bay Area is my hood and I'm really going to miss all the diverse food options here when I move away for college next year! Also, the Exploratorium is definitely one of the coolest museums around.
Looks fun!!! Happy new year Simon! excited for what's to come!!!
love these types of vids
I'm so glad I found your videos! I'm doing a biochemistry degree at uni but have always been intrigued with physics. I'm really enjoying your videos!
+Victoria Georges yay :D thank you!

Can't wait for more content from you!! I came across your channel when I was looking for effective ways to study and you look really nice and clever :))
Life as a PhD student seems awesome!! I really hope to be one in the future, giving talks on the developments in physics! :)
great video. have a lovely trip!
This vlog was great! I went to some of the exact same place sin the summer, it was great to see your experience of being there!
Aww! You are in my home state. Have fun and good luck on your presentations. California is a beautiful state, but way too expensive to live in.
1:59 David's smile reminds me of Daniel Radcliffe... Also, he sounded like him too. :O
Aha, looking forward to EGU 2019😁It's my first poster ~
Hey SimonOxsPhys can you please tell me how to prepare for A levels. Please. By the way, whichever video of yours I watch.you just motivate me.THANKS😀
Hi,
First i'd like to say thanks and well done for creating your youtube channel and oxvolg - I really like both :)
so i have a question which has nothing to do with this video (sry!) : what is your view is on re-applying to oxford after having been rejected the first time around? worth it or a waste of time?
Thanks
+elena rh Always a tricky one - it depends on your A2 results really, if they meet or exceed what they are asking for and you can identify how to improve your application then go for it. There's always the danger of going full Captain Ahab and always lusting after the university, so I'd recommend only ever reapplying once. Also remember that there are other universities just as good as Oxford and that it is not the be all and end all :)
is that your research you will be presenting on on behalf of the University?
+Marlon Christie yep, the poster is a condensed form of my PhD project
+SimonOxfPhys nice, congratulations, pray you do well.
TWELVE parsecs *under breath* ..fourteen..
+Peter Robinson Yeah I'm kind of ashamed that I didn't know that one immediately...
lol your videos are funny
