  • The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is the biggest Earth sciences meeting in the world, and I went to San Francisco to take part in it!
    In this video series I'll be taking you with me through the scientific conference and the sights of San Francisco, starting off with the incredible Exploratorium!

    I am Simon, a third year PhD candidate at the University of Exeter. I upload videos on bits of science which are relevant to what I do, and sometimes just because they're really cool.

    Nice seeing Home again.
    Like I wrote to you before, San Francisco is the best place to find variety of cuisine.

    "It's like 2001 but backwards" that's the best thing I've heard all day.

    It's interesting to watch foreigners' perspective of America. The SF Bay Area is my hood and I'm really going to miss all the diverse food options here when I move away for college next year! Also, the Exploratorium is definitely one of the coolest museums around.

    Aww! You are in my home state. Have fun and good luck on your presentations. California is a beautiful state, but way too expensive to live in.

    Hi,
    First i'd like to say thanks and well done for creating your youtube channel and oxvolg - I really like both :)
    so i have a question which has nothing to do with this video (sry!) : what is your view is on re-applying to oxford after having been rejected the first time around? worth it or a waste of time?
    Thanks

    • @SimonClark
      @SimonClark  Před 8 lety

      +elena rh Always a tricky one - it depends on your A2 results really, if they meet or exceed what they are asking for and you can identify how to improve your application then go for it. There's always the danger of going full Captain Ahab and always lusting after the university, so I'd recommend only ever reapplying once. Also remember that there are other universities just as good as Oxford and that it is not the be all and end all :)
