  • I would have been better to make a tutorial on how to make this but I did it a while ago, just need to make some repairs i thought i would document on CZcams. All the buttons are wired exactly as they would have been on the original PS2 controller button membrane except the 2.2k ohm resistor connects to the board in a different area, I think that not only fixes the button issues but nullifies the analog stick input as well but I'm not 100% sure about that. If there's a lot of interest in this I could certainly find out whats going on with the analog stick inputs there.

I remove the analog stick but now the control input becomes crazy. How you fix that bro?

you must not have the encoder wheels lined up right on the inside, its actually not an analog stick, it works like old ball mice. there are little wheels with slots in them that an encoder reads movement on. The n64 calibrates the center when a controller is plugged in or turns on and sets wherever its at as the middle and bases movement on the movement of those wheels. make sure everything is seated correctly in there with the wheels next to the sensors... actually its a gear you have to line up, look at this picture www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fretrocomputing.stackexchange.com%2Fquestions%2F8130%2Fhow-do-n64-controller-deadzones-work&psig=AOvVaw2VFHpup7beZ-Lyw5oI88Ch&ust=1613827855365000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=2ahUKEwjSqNOxh_buAhXAn3IEHThcAGoQjRx6BAgAEAc

lol, im responding to the wrong video. so I wasn't entirely sure anymore, but i'm pretty sure introducing that value resistor at that particualr spot nullified the analog inputs from going crazy, but I do have a potentiometer from the analog wired up too, im pretty sure in the end that wasn't necessary and the resistor fixed the buttons and set the analog sticks to the center all the time. how are you wiring the buttons, are you keeping that resistor in the circuit? Where at?
