The Japanese traditional arts and craft is something to be very proud of. Sadly, in the western world, the mind set of wanting things now has resulted in many traditional skills being lost. Automated factories and cheap imports have added to the lost. The 5products shown are very beautifully made and look stunning. Thank you for the relaxing post, it is appreciated.

I have a lantern. And many boxes. And many fans that were made in China but I did get one from Japan. It’s made from Sandlewood I believe and I love it! And I love these fans that she is making!!
Washikozo is used quite often in stabilizing faces of paintings being restored... It's also a great paper for sketches...❤

I took my students to Gifu in 99’ to visit our sister school. Gifu Prefecture is also famous for it’s fine ceramics. We met a ceramics artist that is considered a national treasure.

El papel japonés es sin duda el más fino, resistente y de características únicas que lo hacen ligero, resistente, de gran duración y perfecto para obras de arte de la artesanía como el origami, los biombos japoneses, los farolillos, las cometas, los abanicos, las sombrillas, la práctica de la caligrafía y muchas cosas más. Es precioso hasta en su hechura. No solamente se necesitan fuerza, dedicación, espíritu incansable y amor por las tradiciones de su pueblo. These baskets are beautiful and absolutely perfectly made. The only thing not so environmentally friendly is the amount of water involved in the process. But this is the way of life, there is always going to be a small cost in making anything.

Miluji tu vaší pravdivost, úctu, pokoru, trpelivost, poctivost v přístupu k práci, odevzdanost pro ni, věřte nebo ne, kdykoliv shlédnu řemeslné příspěvky z Japonska, Koree, Vietnamu, Číny, tečou mi slzy jako hrachy. U nás, v mé rodné zemi je toho již málo takového k vidění. Také je to tím, že se zdá, zájem o pravdivé řemeslo u nás není. Jste velké země, s velkou, obdivuhodnou tradicí. Nevidím černobíle, všechno má své. To co jsem zmínila na začátku vnímám jako velký dar přijetí života, ve službě svému, nejenom svému národu. Jste pro mne tak inspirující, velmi mi tím pomáháte, něco i změnit v sobě. Ještě jednou díky.
