  • Wanted to do a review on my Boatlift buddy. At this point I’ve had it for about 2 1/2 months. When I was looking at buying it, I could not find many videos showing it actually work. Let me know what you think.

That's great, I have the same hoist and have a winch from an atv that is 1.0 HP and has a 2,000 lb rating.
My Pontoon weighs about 1700 lbs so I am hoping I can hook it up like you di!
    Thanks

Thanks. I've been searching for a video on the operation of the Boat Lift Buddy.

The ShoreStation brand SSAC2 or SSDC2 is quicker and much easier to use. No bunjee cords just a toggle switch to lift up or down with the motor making direct contact with the wheel all the time unless you release it. It may cost more but a better alternative imo. On the SSDC2 it gives you a power cord to hook right to your boat battery. No need for an extra battery or solar panel.

out of curiosity, why is it a better option? the BLB is close to half the cost of the SSDC2. The BLB also hooks direct to my boat battery with a supplied cord so there is no extra battery or solar panel needed. I've never seen a SSDCA in use so I cant speak to quickness of it, but I'm sure speed also depends on the weight of the boat. I've had mine now going on 3 seasons with no issues.

@@jasunderlan well to be straight forward my dad bought one for his 40108 ShoreStation . I personally thought wow this is slow. I then started working for ShoreStation I switched out the motor/system and wow what an improvement. Approximately twice as fast and no bunjee to deal with. Plus now your motor takes you both up and down again with again no bunjee involved. I remember my dad saying wow what an improvement wish I had bought the that to begin with. And twice as much? I’m thinking you probably need to shop around.

@@kross1261 It makes sense that you would want to promote your own product on a review for a competitor. 40% cost difference while the SSDC2 is on sale. To some, the extra speed and not dealing with the bungie is worth pay $600 more dollars for it. Not for me. Also when I need a new wheel, ill be happy to pay $89 instead of $189.00. Same thing with a replacement motor, $400 vs $1300. I am sure there is value in the Shore Station and they make great products, but this review was for a more affordable unit that has worked exactly how I expected it to. If you want to send me a SSDC2, id be more than happy to do a review on it with side by side comparisons! :)

I’m not trying to promote our product I’m basically saying you get what you pay for.

@@jasunderlan I looked around here and I know this can vary by regions and here locally the ShoreStation SSDC2 is approximately $150 more. And that’s with the ShoreStation with a pretty hefty markup. If you look on the internet we require anyone selling on their the price is full list to protect our dealers. I’m not trying to put down your drive but I see this so much with our product. Customers putting aftermarket products on our lifts. I had a gentleman call me from Michigan the other day. Said he really likes our lifts but the quality of our vinyls just isn’t up to par. I researched it. It was an obvious aftermarket even though his dealer assured him it was a genuine ShoreStation. Often the price for these items are 10-20% less but not near the quality. I often see dealers markup their ShoreStation products a higher percentage than their aftermarket or competing items and it’s a bit frustrating and not fair to the consumer or the manufacturer.

Great video. I'm just researching these and was curious how hard your wheel is to turn by hand. You mentioned you had a cantilever style (which I have) and I was wondering if you think it would still work. Mine is a real workout to lift and I'm not sure the friction wheel would get the job done. Thanks again for the info!

Thanks for reaching out. This lift is a vertical lift, though once the boat started coming out of the water, i could only crank it hand over hand and not fast. Mine was also a big workout to get it all the way up. My boat weighs about 3800lbs and you can hear the wheel working hard once the whole boat is out but it gets it done! Good luck!

@@jasunderlan That is exactly what I was wondering. It's hand over hand for me and it just doesn't seem like a friction wheel would get the job done. Thanks for your insight and reply. I'm going to give it a try!

I had the exact same question. Our boat is only 1,500 lbs. I can crank it up using just the hand grip on the wheel, but it is hard until it gets past 45 degrees. But it is still a lot of turns. Looks like this will work just fine for me. THANKS
