@@m.kstudio5077 i apologize if I'm assuming that you don't know a thing that you do know but in case you don't Sia produced? made? idk the right terms a movie long story short she originally had an autistic person playing an autistic person it did not last very long because the place was not accessible for the autistic person so they fired them or they just quit working there (not sure which and hired a neurotypical person to play an autistic person which is already problematic but then there were also many harmful scenes of said autistic character being physically restrained and it was just like really really bad I did not see it myself that would be too triggering but basically ok Sia is the same ok ur kinda ableist
This season has been the best representation of autism, at least as I experience it, that I have seen in a series. Thank you, Chloé, for showing things onscreen that are so hard to explain to people who haven't lived through them. I hope that next season (knock on wood) the producers might include some of your music in the soundtrack.
I'm right now watching episode 7. You did such a beautiful job and I'm so grateful to the writers who clearly took a lot of your input and allowed a character portrayal that is actually representative. That's such a rare thing. I've been emotional at many points watching it because of how much it resonates with reality - from the big things to the small things. It's really wonderful. You deserve to feel enormously proud.
i’ve watched four episodes already and i adore quinni, you’ve done such a beautiful job 💖 the sensory overload scene was dead on, too - it’s something about restaurants, i swear
That scene was so well done! I'm neurotypical, and it really showed me what the experience of being autistic is like. So glad we have wonderful creatives like Chloe to create these new stories.
I totally agree. That scene and the one with Darren helping her (showing perfectly how to act in that sort of situations) where excellent. All the different sounds mixing in restaurants are totally exhausting, it feels totally impossible to focus just on one of them... The show totally nailed that feeling. I'm gonna use this scene every time I have to explain sensory overload to someone, I swear.
@@9thgalaxy778 i am so glad that people like YOU exist. genuinely, if no one has told you this, THANK YOU!!! we need way more people like you who actually care enough to try to understand. you are wonderful.
omg I just watched this scene and when I tell you how much i was happy stimming I'm surprised my arms didnt fall off 😭😭 chloe I love you YOU ARE AMAZING ❤❤❤❤❤
I love this! People have a certain view of what autism is and that’s why it’s so important to have own voices rep in media so the audience can see there is more than one way to be autistic. Not only that but that autistic people are worthy of being in love and exploring that with the people they do love.
I have a really thoughtful question. How did you feel expressing yourself and filming these scenes, representing yourself and educating people. You definitely told Sasha. 🥰
this show is the first time I've ever seen a character and thought "shes just like me". quinni is the first time I've ever felt truly represented and seen and I cant tell you how much she means to me. thank you ❤❤
As soon as I saw this post, I went straight to Netflix and binged the whole season. I have to say, you're AMAZING, thank you so much for this! I started watching your channel almost 2 years ago, when I suspected I was autistic and adhd, and I started realising it only when I saw how similar we were to each other, then went looking for professional help. Since then, and through the whole diagnostic process(that confirmed asd + adhd), you have been my companion, specially when I'm overwhelmed. Seeing you give life to Quinni melted my heart in a way I can't explain, I'm so emotional right now, thank you a million times. It's the first time I see a truly non-stereotyped representation of an autistic person, plus: an autistic lesbian, with """""mild""""" autism, and the first time I see an autistic person acting on an autistic character. I'm so proud of you, and so grateful to see part of me represented in the show (I'm also lgbtq and here in my country we still suffer a lot with homophobia and sexism) it meant the world to me. Hugs from Brazil (and sorry about my english hahaha). I'm hopefully waiting for your next show! Thank you again for everything you do, and thanks for this amazing channel and community you build. Go girl!!!! ❤❤❤
I saw this notification, opened Netflix, binged the whole show and then clicked on it and came here. The show is great! Your character is definitely the most likable and relatable, but that might also just be me. It's also so important to have representation of an amab non-binary character. I got vibes from Sex Education, but it also felt a bit reminiscent of murder mysteries because of the things revealed in the last episode, but overall more believable and real. You all did phenomenal jobs and I was really immersed. I think I'll rewatch Young Royals next. PS: I watched the show in German and love how great the dub was and that they make all these shows, especially the queer ones, available internationally. I hadn't caught the Sia joke though and at one point even questioned whether she was on the soundtrack, so watching this video rounded up my experience. I really hope there will be a season two, but I'm also really glad that you didn't end on the cliff hanger of the penultimate episode to force one. Thank you for giving us this character! You have my respect!
I don't know how I could have forgotten that the first time, probably because his story line was somewhere else in the final episode, but obviously also the gay asexual representation! Their relationship with each of their insecurities reflecting bits of me definitely got me the closest to tears.
I just finished watching heart break high. To be honest I would have never watched it as I am 35 and totally past any kind of high school drama TV show. I started watching your videos a couple of years ago, when I was just learning about autism and I’ve watched most of your videos since. I was so excited for you when you announced that you were gonna be working on the show and sad but understanding when your videos slow down dramatically once filming it started. When you made the day in the life of an autistic Netflix actor video I was so excited and happy and ready to watch the show. I wanted to see an authentic representation of an autistic teenager on screen and GIRL YOU DID IT!!!! Bravo times a million. You did such a great job. There were so many parallels between Queenie and I when I was in high school. I hope beyond hope that you get more rules, either in more of heart break high or others. I would love both equally. you are an amazing actress. I am so glad that my daughter and son will have such an honest and beautiful representation to see when they are older. I know that times are changing and with your contributions hopefully we will see more authentic and real autistic characters soon. THANK YOU. I don’t know what else to say but I want to keep telling you THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I love this scene! It conveys how people have lots of misinformation about autism but also shows how cute they are together. The humor is amazing. I wish Sasha didn’t become so horrible later on
I love that they used and actual Autistic person for the role in heartbreak high instead of using stereotypes and we get to actually see the insides of it
Sasha: “You’re really cool and different from anyone I met and that’s why I like you🥺” Also Sasha: “Ugh it’s so hard being with you I wanna be a NORMAL teenager😤”
