That is a good idea since the fact that when I was younger I had a key for my t tops that fit some washer and dryer locks. It wouldn't be hard for someone to be able to empty these machines.

A tubular pick will open most any of these in seconds. Best to re-lock with a lock with more than seven pins and invest in surveillance cameras. Or get a card system instead-- nobody will steal money, and at the worst they'll reprogram their card to give themselves credits but that takes time, effort, and equipment.

The Uber Successful I get it but don’t act like people are stealing or something else when there are so many wash n folders that looks so much better. Make the investment in the communities not accused them for crappy and dirty service. This is my biggest thing with some people. The give crap to the poorest community then expect gold. I want everyone to buy their own washer n dryer. They should not have to subject themselves to that.

If it's someone JUST opening one up, they're gonna buy what they can afford to put in and upgrade as they get a chance, or if they're buying a place that's already set up they're not gonna just upgrade right off the bat unless its a safety hazard. The building and machines are functional as is for the most part in this video. The other key to note here is, people do steal and break shit, because people have zero respect of other people and their property. Also, even IF people have their own washer/dryer at home for every day laundry... they typically still have to go to a laundromat for larger items like blankets and comforters that need heavier duty machines on occasion. Landlords aren't required to put a washer/dryer into a unit for tenants, and is just another thing to break, leak, or possibly start a fire again because people tend to not care about other peoples property.
Not necessarily. Who know how long it was closed the place. No one really likes to go and do laundry on those type of machines. A laundromat was exactly the same close where I live till new owners, new machines and cleaner place. Business is booming now
Ken Mason That's The truth. I have a Speed Queen front loader I scored a deal on. I've had it 10 years and it looks brand new. It's the most inefficient washer you could buy, which is exactly why it's great. Everything about it is beefed up from the motor, belts, to water usage. I had one sensor go out I needed to replace last year. It cost $60 and came with a new wiring harness for the whole freaking thing. The parts faculty said it's rated for 25 years where most are rated for 5. Unfortunately Speed Queen stopped selling the consumer version which was identical to the laundry mat version with different knobs.
@Ken Mason You pretty much stated exactly what I read from a product tester who investigated Speed Queen. I think the lady worked for Consumer Reports or some publication. She always said the Speed Queens did terrible in their tests, but have a massive cult like following. She went to investigate and discovered people like you. Consumers with difficult dirty jobs hate modern washing machines. The battery of tests most publications use don't have anywhere near the level of dirt to clean up. Most of the families with Speed Queens owned them because they were the only units that could clean clothes like yours. It takes A LOT of water (as you said) and chemicals to dislodge that stuff. Pretty much only a Speed Queen puts out enough water. That and since they need to survive a laundry mat they're extremely tough, but also extremely simple. They just work. Basically just maximize the three things you said.

Thomas Truther you dont have to drive if its literally walking distance from your college. At max Im bringing two bags of clothes. I live in new haven so I expect Yale and UNH to have laundry rooms but I dont expect them to be big. I low key dont expect them to be free because its fucking yale. A lot of stores accomodate for yale students and have discounts or special currency for them. It would be hard to set that up for them either since majority of out laundromats use cards already. Last time I seen coins being used was when I was a kid in our old aprartment building with a laundry room down stairs that no one really used and that ended up being free before we left lol. I think dry cleaning can be useful too instead now that I really need my better stuff cleaned properly.
@@1xk11 It's an estimated guess. Because it's possible you are the new owner, took over from someone else, and so previous owner(s) most certainly may have a key. They can pretend to come do laundry and wipe clean everything other than their laundry considering they too have a key. In addition, it seems a whole lot easy to pick these locks too. So just advising you to be careful/cautious

Sometimes yes, that's what people do. If they have a washer but not a dryer or if their dryer is broken. Eventhough I have a washer and dryer sometimes I will take my blankets and comforters to wash and dry at the laundromat.

Owning a business is always a nightmare collecting money.. in construction customer always complain about bill when they agreed on price and signed contract (hate putting liens on property and charging more in court fees to get my money.. Tenants never pay rent on time have to evict from time to time and charge more money to get my original money. Only business I dont stress on is selling chicken and ducks.. People always pay for food...
I appreciate your hard work and getting a lot of money easily, but I really recommend getting new locks that arent easy to pick and has an uncommon/unique key. using tubular lock impressioning tool sets takes seconds to open those popular dries. probably wouldn't take long time to pick some of the regular locks too
I used to work at a laundromat and can tell you yes it makes alot of money but I had no idea of the overhead(gas, electricity bill, payroll, cable, internet,etc.) But most shifts which was 2 brought in at least $200 everyday.
Lower your wash price to $2. Get another arcade game like pinball for just $0.25. You need to get people to travel farther to your laundromat by making it a fun experience. No one likes waiting for their laundry. They are more likely to play arcade games and use the vending machines when they save $0.50 or $1 on their laundry. I used to drive to a farther laundromat because they had wifi and a free parking lot. Consider upgrading the unpopular machines to more modern ones. Or remove them & replace with different games like foosball and air hockey. Find a local business to pay you $100 to sponsor your location, and place sticker advertising on each one of your machines with their services and phone number & a unique discount code only for your customers. Most laundromats have free wifi these days. Might as well add other revenue streams. I would play pinball, if my local laundromat had it. People have loads of quarters in their pockets, only makes sense to have a $0.25 pinball to make extra money.
Moe, I wouldn’t lower the price and buy new machines. The owner will go bankrupt. One new machine cost around $2,000 or more. Compare prices with other laundromats.
I'm thinking maybe a smaller beverage machine that sells Redbull and starbucks at $2 ea. Some of these peeps do their laundry before heading to work or run some other errands so they may crave a boost.

The laundromat by my house is always packed. His secret he hired an older lady that cleans the place and does laundry wash and fold by the pound. I go there to chat with her and know others do to. She makes tips from customers. And goes at her own pace. Also feels more safe. She also sells soap downy

Something to consider is this video went viral about 3 months after I opened up the laundromat. It's doing pretty good overall you can see current updates on my channel. I'm working towards replacing all the equipment here.
I've been interested in this for a while. We still have coin laundromats where I live in VA, but in th he Tidewater VA area they have machines that take cards. You actually put money on the card and swipe it to do your laundry. There's an attendant on duty that assists you with putting the money on your card. I like that system better.

I worked at a laundry when I was a kid..... 30+ years ago. One bonus I got was cleaning out the washing machine “traps”. Full of whatever was in the pockets of washed clothes. Tons of coins!

@@1xk11 It's an estimated guess. Because it's possible you are the new owner, took over from someone else, and so previous owner(s) most certainly may have a key. They can pretend to come do laundry and wipe clean everything other than their laundry considering they too have a key. In addition, it seems a whole lot easy to pick these locks too. So just advising you to be careful/cautious

Sometimes yes, that's what people do. If they have a washer but not a dryer or if their dryer is broken. Eventhough I have a washer and dryer sometimes I will take my blankets and comforters to wash and dry at the laundromat.

The one thing I learned about owning a laundromat is; gathering the money is a living NIGHTMARE.
Owning a business is always a nightmare collecting money.. in construction customer always complain about bill when they agreed on price and signed contract (hate putting liens on property and charging more in court fees to get my money.. Tenants never pay rent on time have to evict from time to time and charge more money to get my original money. Only business I dont stress on is selling chicken and ducks.. People always pay for food...

I used to work at a laundromat and can tell you yes it makes alot of money but I had no idea of the overhead(gas, electricity bill, payroll, cable, internet,etc.) But most shifts which was 2 brought in at least $200 everyday.

Lower your wash price to $2. Get another arcade game like pinball for just $0.25. You need to get people to travel farther to your laundromat by making it a fun experience. No one likes waiting for their laundry. They are more likely to play arcade games and use the vending machines when they save $0.50 or $1 on their laundry. I used to drive to a farther laundromat because they had wifi and a free parking lot. Consider upgrading the unpopular machines to more modern ones. Or remove them & replace with different games like foosball and air hockey. Find a local business to pay you $100 to sponsor your location, and place sticker advertising on each one of your machines with their services and phone number & a unique discount code only for your customers. Most laundromats have free wifi these days. Might as well add other revenue streams. I would play pinball, if my local laundromat had it. People have loads of quarters in their pockets, only makes sense to have a $0.25 pinball to make extra money.
Moe, I wouldn’t lower the price and buy new machines. The owner will go bankrupt. One new machine cost around $2,000 or more. Compare prices with other laundromats.

That's the dryer. Usually you get 8 minutes per quarter, and 24 minutes is often enough to dry a load, although I usually go for 32.

The laundromat by my house is always packed. His secret he hired an older lady that cleans the place and does laundry wash and fold by the pound. I go there to chat with her and know others do to. She makes tips from customers. And goes at her own pace. Also feels more safe. She also sells soap downy

I've been interested in this for a while. We still have coin laundromats where I live in VA, but in th he Tidewater VA area they have machines that take cards. You actually put money on the card and swipe it to do your laundry. There's an attendant on duty that assists you with putting the money on your card. I like that system better.
