Lovely episode. I suspect British people actually know very little about Turkey and the opinions they do have are influenced by a prejudiced press. I’ve never been but what I’ve seen from your videos is a beautiful country, full of incredibly hospitable people, who are open and generous. There are always laughs and smiles and new things to learn and see. I wish more people watched this channel because they would certainly learn a lot. Keep up the great work and thank you to Turkey for looking after two of our citizens so well. 🇹🇷👍🏻

11:30 In Turkey, people distribute food such as Turkish delight, biscuits, and sweets for the benefit of the deceased. We call it "ölülerin hayrına". This usually happens during Ramadan, but some people may prefer to distribute it to people who come to a mosque or are nearby it. That might be the reason why people gave you some sweets.

for future reference.the cag kebab shop ( horizontal spit ) is charged by the skewer . around 15 tl a skewer. they will keep bringing them out until you say stop. also they would bring a fresh one once you finished the previous one so you will no eat a cold one. personally much better than the vertical spit kebabs ps loved the vlog

You can collect lots of sweets around mosques, it is actually a religious tradition to share sweets and Turkish delight after your wish or pray comes true. Older people usually bring sweets to mosques to share with youngers or mosques shares sweets on sacred days with their own donations. When i was a child, my grandfather were coming back home with Turkish delights from the mosque almost every night after the prayer. Children like to go to mosque this way. 😂
