Its insane how he was able to keep so many plans secret right under everyone's noses. I love how Andor shows this to an extent in the end too
It’s not real bro.
@@BodybuildingNews You're an AI so you're not real.
@@BodybuildingNewsoh god!!! It’s not real?!? Holy sht!!! My whole world view is shattered!! I TOTALLY thought I was gonna be able to join the empire and work on the Death Star!!!😂 some people just love unnecessarily stating the obvious in an attempt to undermine the imagination of others.
Our own government does this sort of thing. It is TOO real. It is what we call the "Deep State."
@@BodybuildingNewstechnically none of star wars legends is either so are we not suppose to care about that? Since it's not real??
Money laundering, insider trading, what a politician
Palpatine was a smart man. Playing both sides was ingenious
So the Jedi needed a forensic accountant, not The Force, to take down the Sith.
True 😂😂😂
It's Al Capone all over again
Isn't that how it always works?
"Money, you laggard. What else? It always comes down to credits!"
Always, follow the money.
Well there is why I consider Palpatine is one of the most intelligent Sith Lords of all time. That is why he develop Superb plans that were successful and he understood to "hire" compentant underlings and paid them well. A well paid employee can keep secrets
Almost as if he learned from Darth Vectivus himself 😁
And yet his empire only lasted 20 years in comparison to the Roman Empire that lasted a thousand years just saying...
Thats one of the reasons he wanted the wookies.Thier was a small group that knew about secret hyper space lanes that they used for trade an other reasons.
Imagine spending 20 years building this thing only to lose in less than a week. Goodluck to whoever had to tell Palps
Que the robot chicken skit where darth vader calls palpatine after the dethstar was destroyed..

THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS
It's unfair!
Why give me a seat on the council and not make me a master?
I recall in the Legends continuity Sidious test fired the super laser to say thank you to many of the slaves used in the construction.
technically Palpatine just gave Tarkin permission to test it on anything he wanted; first Despayre, which wiped out most of the prisoners used in the construction, then Alderaan
Palpatine kept horrid secrets even from the top military commanders. This shows Palpatine didn't trust even his most loyal men in Imperial military, and that most in Imperial military actually did see themselves fighting for the right side.
Force Concealment
Just build it in a place no one knows exists.
The problem is that as the franchise has continued, new writers keep adding these massive black projects that all took place during the Empire. It wasn't just the Death Star, because a second one was already in the works. Then you had everything he was up to in the Unknown Regions. Plus regular fleet buildup. This should have bankrupted the Republic.
We don't know much wealth the Sith accrued over a 1000 years. Plagueis was a bigwig in the Banking Clan, Tenebrous created luxury starships and Vectivus was a successful businessman. Those three alone likely added millions if not billions of credits to the Sith hoard.
@@factfiend1000 - That assumes that Sith Lords are good-hearted enough to leave their wealth to their successors, who almost certainly killed them as per the Rule of Two. Given that Sith are generally spiteful, and the Rule of Two is all about proving strength, I would kind of expect them to hide their wealth from their apprentices so as not to make life too easy for them.
@@daniels7907The entire point of the Rule of Two, as established in canon, is that the apprentice kills their master and usurps all of their power, including whatever wealth they might have. Even if it wasn’t a common occurrence, Plagueis is known for oversharing with Sidious all his secrets and basically boosting his rise to power in all aspects. It’s not that unbelievable to assume that Sidious had at least billions of dollars that he inherited from Plagueis, on top of the GDP of a Republic/Empire which spans an entire *galaxy* with trillions of citizens (on Coruscant alone).
@@murdoxxed - I have never seen it stated anywhere that Sith Apprentices gain their Master's assets as part of the deal. Indeed, there are very good reasons for Masters to not allow that, as it could result in lazy Apprentices being too satisfied with vast wealth.
I AM THE DEATH STAR
Not yet
You left out the part about prison labor as shown in the TV series Andor.
So, here's the question then: For the second Death Star, how did Sidious manage to get the kyber crystals for the second Death Star on a much faster time frame than the first, and keep the news of the crystals being harvested and moved a secret until he leaked the construction to the rebels, considering how massive and unstable the crystals actually are?
(The question is more so about how he actually got them so fast though)
Perhaps he hoarded the majority of the crystals in many different locations, and chances are that the Death Star Super Laser focusing lenses probably didn’t need that many crystals or massive crystals to fire the weapon.
Remember that the engineering of the Death Star was to make a very effective super weapon, and maybe the crystal didn’t need to be huge for the continuing firing of the Death Star, but also remember that their were different setting of firing the weapon depending on the reactors used.
By the time of the second Death Star the Empire had been in exclusive control of kyber crystals for over 20 years. They would have amassed a significant inventory of them & their continued harvesting efforts would have become the status quo. I'm not sure it would have raised an eyebrow, for the most part.
He didn't send 100% of the crustals to the original Death Star and he was keeping thrm sonewhere secret.
If you watch rogue one the crystals they were grabbing weren't the giant ones saw found in rebels but rather trashcan sized ones but even that wasn't used Eadu the base was a kyber refinery that grinder (kyber cutting kyber) the crystals down at the end of andor you see the inner dish being constructed with the kyber in a solar type skin but not until rogue one do you see the actual outer grey non reflective shell dish being installed the dishes would focus the power from stars into the reactors and then out again into the individual rays. in order to blow up a planet all the reactors would have to be fired with 'primary ignition' but as seen in rogue one killing a city or base could be done with minimal reactor effort. The question of how it was hidden can be answered easily if you think about the whole things hyperspace travel capabilities and as far as how was there material left over for the second death star if these crystals were indeed the hearts of living stars at one point they would have densities that would make diamonds look like playdoh by comparison they would have easily survived the first death star explosion been recycled by droids and repackaged and then sent to the 2nd death star and it wouldn't surprise anyone that if the rebellion simply traced the recycled materials they would find the death star easily the death star & star killer base were never the end game the final order exegol and the unknown regions being too far for anyone to pay attention (anyone but the emperor and thrawn) was.
The obvious fact is that during the events of A New Hope the Senate is disbanded.
During A New Hope Leia had as much rights as a Roman might have under Augustus or Tiberius. The Republic was already legally gone but not citizenship or the Senate. Elites had rights.
Destroying Alderaan revealed the Death Star existed. Some supported it and many others were afraid of it.
Palpatine had gone beyond Emperor to announcing that the Senate had as many rights as the Jedi. Zero.
Not everything in the Empire could be done quickly. Notice how the Death Star II has unfinished armor.
But anyone who might have worried about historic or religious significance of kyber crystals, everyone was encouraged to shoot on site and the government would pay you a stimulus check.
So the particular red tape around permits to harvest crystals well the Senator who would have vetoed that just got blown up by the megalaser that needed the crystals.
So that's how that goes. Grand Moffs: 1 Senators: 0
This is extremely smart of Palpatine. Brilliant. Really brilliant! I remember Mygito. I was there with Galactic Marines. We had Chancellor's "superlaser". Senate and National Gatherings are always bickering, fighting. Nothing new. Brilliant of Palpatine. I didn't know about this before. May the Force be with you too😊
Embezzlement;
Palpatine: "THIS is the way"
Wouldn't Sidious's biggest project be undermining his own empire to complete his immortality project on Exegal, with his Death Stars being mere stepping stones to that goal?
yeah that was dumb, the amount of personnel alot to man all those ships it would have been impossible to keep secret
Our Galactic Emperor never had absolute power. The endless, massive, sprawling bureaucracies saw to that.
I honestly would like to know what Vader thought of Death Star.
New hope says it all
The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force - Vader
Vader didn’t approve of the weapon as we saw in a New Hope. He thought it was a waste of money and time to develop and operate such technology while there was an even more powerful weapon they had access to: the force. Vader viewed the Death Star as weaker than the force.
We see that Vader truly believes this because of the comics. Vader didn’t understand Palpatine’s true power from his control over the super weapon. Vader only actually understood Palpatine’s true power when he saw the force experiments he was conducting on Exegol.
In the _Rogue One_ movie, Vader basically tells Director Krennic that the Death Star caused more problems than it was worth. He sugarcoated his real feelings about it when he was in the presence of the military leaders, but he certainly believed that it was just a useless hunk of scrap metal.
@@decepticonxhunter4850yeah he probably would have leaned more towards the tie defender project
Now we know why old palps has a obsession of heavy weapons.
The clone wars keeps the jedi & senate distracted
If anyone found out they would meet with "an unfortunate accident" before they could report on it, im sure
Almost there. The cadence makes it feel inauthentic. Da da da dadada da
Did the Galactic Marines and Mundi taking the crystal influence the timing of order 66?
I wonder what would've happened had Palpatine's death star plans been exposed before the Clone Wars ended?
He would have had to carry out order 66 and other plans earlier but he already had the military advantage at that time regardless so if anything it would have been an even more bloodthirsty coup and takeover followed by years of war against the separatists and pro Republic forces which would have joined forces to fight the bigger foe.
Makes me think of a line from Yes Minister
“How can it be a secret? It’s so big!”
“It’s a big secret”
Even the power of that space station is nothing compared to the force
You screwed up the bit of the of the construction material used. Cortosis would have been worse than useless to build the Death star out of. They used Doonium.
A metal that was also used for the failed project Insurrection. By a different empire in our galaxy and time line.
Palpatine's real Sith superpower was time management.
“Hey Chancellor, I went over the Republic’s budget and it seems 100 trillion credits have gone missing. You know anything about this?”
“BATTLE STATION.”
*“Understandable.”*
The Jedi really dropped the ball with Palpatine
I wanna point out that the Pryce Mine contained doonium, not Cortosis. Also, Cortosis was never used in constructing the Death Star.
Sidious time management skills must be off the chain
Only a superior being like Emperor Palpatine could be intelligent enough to successfully maneuver chess pieces around the board like this.
This is exactly why Emperor Palpatine was the only person with the force granted right to rule the galaxy.
I knew some of this, and some of this was news to me.
There was, according to my sources, a prototype Death Star. And that both the prototype and the first Death Star was actually created at the Maw facility. The Maw is an area, system if you will, that had several black holes. There was actually several other projects there. Not just the Death Star.
Insane in size an scope as something like this IS, the universe in basically in any scifi franchise is almost unfathomably huge just like in ours... With room for basically Palpatine's entire super weapon collection an about all the other superweapons from every other franchise too COMBINED to all hide basically in the same place in any one verse.... An MAYBE it CAN take forever to no one EVER finding any of them UNLESS you find out where to look an what to look for
Our own government hides lots of things from the public. It is a big galaxy. Of course, Palpatine could hide stuff.
How did they build the second death star so quickly?
I'm pretty sure it was already under construction before the first one blew up. I'm not 100% sure so take that with a big grain of salt
Firstly they now had knowledge and experience of building a Death Star, secondly Palps didn’t have to hide the second one. He was already in control of the galaxy and had dissolved the senate so he had cart Blanche.
Palpatine used a plothole.
Palpatine was in complete control and answered to nobody, for starters. Additionally, they now had a fully formed and operationally proven set of plans. Lastly, it was the weapon itself that hindered the production time. The handful of years, or more, were largely due to getting the laser functional and sound. If it were to be installed prematurely and fail it could potentially destroy the entire station.
I really can't believe that he really did this. But I'm not surprised about this at all
A great video and breakdown abd this is why Legends still needs to a thing because it gives answers that cannon at times doesn't.
Plus, convicts from Andor
Nothing about the Maw system. A series of black holes where the Death Star was kept safe while it was being constructed.
In Canon it was mostly built over Geonosis and later moved to Scarif
@@kylethompson3008 in Disney canon.
yeah, it's odd how little of the pre-Disney stuff was in this video since it was supposed to cover both. (Pre-Disney having the proof-of-concept model built at the Maw and then the full version built at Despayre)
Where does the prison factories in Andor fit into this?
Just shows how palpatine can sneaky and extremely intelligent
Embezzlement was the way...lol.
It’s amazing to know that Padmé could’ve brought this all to a screeching halt. 😭
Palpatine was always one devious hombre
Once again, the Sith will rule. Welcome Lord Vader. Let me explain this big bad ass machine. I’m at Macon to bring republic down in once again Moore ha ha ha ha we will rule.
I wonder if the Death Star construction on Geonosis happened after the second invasion of Geonosis then?
He thought of everything except how to stop a single missile from destroying the whole thing. A true evil genius.
Space is big
Sounds like some real life government Ish to me
I don’t know why I never questioned this lmao
But what about the maw installation??? The hidden prison where the deathstar was designed, where the suncrusher was designed an made, how han found it because of path he took in his famous Kessel run in under so many parsecs
Yeah, his Sith name is literally Darth Sidious. Hello!
Damn. I wonder if Sidious was inspired by Klaus Schwab
Palpatine had to do this secretly because this is the one thing the Senate and the Jedi would never approve of he built the Death Star illegally
The Star Forge kinda dwarfs the Death Star...
It's because PLOT HOLE!
And then some farm boy blows it up
What is scarier than sith? Bureaucracy

What if Thrawn comes to earth?
We'll give him covid
DS1 would have been helpful against the Vong. Ce la vie
WTF. Do you really have no idea what a vast place a literal galaxy is? He could literally store thousands of them across the Galaxy without them being noticed 🤣
It was Doonium not cortosis.
The Emperor copied the Pentagon's black ops funding scheme 😂
*The following is the opinion of a Salty SEAGULL named EARL who just shows up in my posts whenever he feels like it!*
[EARL the Salty SEAGULL:] "Hiding the construction of the Death Star from the Jedi was easy as they were in the middle of fighting a war that Palps basically started with help from Dooku! Now hiding the truth from the SENATE when PALPATINE IS THE SENATE, now that is nothing short of amazing!"

Where does Gaylen Eros fit in this?
The Jedi were wiped out so some of his statements were not true
NNNNNNOOOOOOO
YYYYYYEEEEEEESSSSS
Considering that Palpatine had complete control over the senate anyway, building the death star only gave the rebels a target big enough to inspire hope and show how vulnerable the empire could be.......In other words, Sidious is kind of a dumdum
Yeah Vader and Thrawn was smarter in that regard 😂😂
