I'm going to show my age real quick. But I will never forget when Dawn Staley and the US Women's Team won Gold. And I will never forget what I like to call the Staley Dish. The behind the back pass she did in the game for the score. I do believe I cried watching that game. I recored that game as well.. Always was the player I wanted to play like. I'm jealous cause I wish I could of played for Coach Staley.
I remember too. I saw her shopping in the Publix downtown not long after she arrived. I didn't hear the news she had been hired so my thoughts were of that Olympic Team.
I've been following her career from college to the WNBA, Olympics and now a coach! Fantastic role model and leader for these young women, now lets bring home the championship, by the way, Im a Texas!!!

I have been a Dawn Staley fan since her college days. A true fierce competitor & floor general as a guard. Never give up attitude. Always humble and always thinking of everyone as a unit in everything she does. Just a well rounded class act. She's always having fun with her players on Twitter. Would have rather seen more attention given to her young players. Not necessarily her fault since the media is always looking for a storyline. I was extremely impressed with coach K during the tournament. Both in victory and defeat. Sometimes character is revealed more in victory than in defeat. Since many of those unpaid kids only have this short period of time to bask in glory, I wish she had approached the situation more like Coach K. However, I am of an older generation and can't understand the constant displays of self importance younger people display these days. Flexing, hand signs, etc, during the game.does not appeal to me. Many times opponents are running past you during your 2 point celebration. She deserves attention, but I'd rather hear the personal success stories of her young players.

On Tuesday, Missouri athletic director Jim Sterk alleged that fans of South Carolina womens basketball showered Missouri players with spit and racial epithets following their 64-54 Sunday loss to the Gamecocks. The game was hotly contested, so much so that two players were ejected following a bench-clearing fracas.
South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn called the allegations “serious and false” at a news conference Wednesday.

“Did I lose a little sleep last night? Yes, obviously,” Staley told reporters. “(The allegations are) going to be handled, but not right here, and not in the manner in which they were dealt. That’s all I’m going to say about that.”
Sterk also described the atmosphere as unhealthy.
“I mean, it was not a good environment and unfortunately I think Coach Staley promoted that kind of atmosphere,” Sterk said in the interview. “It’s unfortunate that she felt she had to do that.”
In a more direct response to Sterk’s comments, Staley vehemently stood behind the Gamecocks’ fanbase.
If I could uproot my fans and place them in any other arena, that coach would be tremendously proud, Staley said. I stand by our fans, by the way they cheer, by every single thing they bring to the arena.

She achieved in 19 years as a coach 455-177 ( .715 winning percentage) with one National Championship, and also 1 coaching Olympic gold. Even if she doubled her numbers, she doesn't come no where near Geno's but still happy for her none the less.
