- First, are a couple of shots of a United Airlines Boeing 727-200 taxing into the Denver UAL gate on May 7, 1995. At this time, Denver's new city airport, which entirely replaced the old Denver Stapleton Airport, had been in operation for about a little over two months. The last part of this video is of the landing of the same 727 at Chicago's O'Hare Field on the same May 7th date (seems the landing had little to no flare before touchdown). I had hoped to video tape the takeoff, but a United flight attendant announced over the cabin PA system that the use of any electronic equipment when taking off was verboten (prohibited). Consequently, my oversize, shoulder mounted, Montgomery Wards video camera stayed put in its container. I was, however, able to sneak in taping the landing as the cabin was dark within. Guess the camera didn't affect any of the 727's avionics as we landed with the plane's wheels down and even at the correct airport.

Love the sounds of those engines spoiling down - miss the 727 so much.
I miss these days. There are so few videos like this from this era. Thank you for having the knowledge and foresight that history is today.
Dan-thanks so much for uploading this great old footage! I'm a Denver native, and I flew on United's 727s a lot during the 1980s. The last time I flew on one was in January 1994, at the old Stapleton airport. I miss them!
+David Halligan Dave, glad you liked the 727 footage. I too flew on the 727 a lot in the 80's. In fact, it got to the point where it seemed back then that's all I'd fly on with so many airlines using them. But now, like you, I miss the old "three holer". Wish I could have flown into Stapleton at least once. Missed that chance by about a month.
your videos are excellent, some great footage.i love the older smokier engines with loud take offs.obviously the aircraft of today are quieter and way more comfortable though.the boeing 727 still has my highest regard than any other still.flew on loads in the 80s,notably dan air here in the uk :-)
The 727 was quiet and pleasant inside, but outside it was bl...y loud and spat too much smoke. The new 737 or A320 are much better.
+TheWuschelMUC I really quite like the A320. I flew one with Delta from LAX to SLC, and thought they were quite comfortable.
What did the first class seats look like? Color? I would love to see the new 1990s interior♥️
This is a GEM!
Thanks!
Fun fact. I’ve pushed with that push tug. It’s 2018.
My last 727 flight was on a UA 727 in June, 2001. Could've been this one - who knows?
Mine was on an AA 727-200 in March, 2000.
No other aircraft In Uniteds fleet wore that livery better than the 727s! Convince me I'm wrong........😁
Ok maybe the 75s came in a very close 2nd place
You may have a point about the 727 with that then new UAL color livery.
I was 17 and living in Wyoming the day DIA opened for business.
My first flight was when I was young in the mid to late 90s. It would have been from Oakland (or San Francisco, not sure which) to Denver and from Denver to Kansas City. I know it was United Airlines and I've been told it was right after the new Denver airport had opened. I've always wondered what the planes were. I remember watching planes being de-iced in Denver and seeing United planes with the engine on the tail, so I'm assuming that was either a 727 or a DC-10? Anyone know what planes United used on those routes in the late 90s?
DC-10
May have been 727s United had alot DC-10
You have anymore united 727 vids?
+Adam K 47 I don't believe I have anymore videos specifically of UAL 727's. I do have some AA 727 footage I may eventually upload on CZcams.
That would be cool
thx for the reply
