Vicar of Dibley was from a different era. A time when comedy could be brilliant and gentle and watchable over and over again. I can't think of any modern comedy that fits that category
QI is still being made. What it lacks in story it usually makes up for in downright intelligent humour. The best part is, the comedians that appear on the show are some of the most intelligent, clever, and funny people on the planet, and I got to know about the work of some of them that I would not normally have since I'm not in the UK. I don't do "panel" shows as a rule, but QI is very re-watchable for the most part (90% of episodes). We are losing some of those people too, sadly. Its only fair to give them credit for doing a show in a difficult situation. I just wish this whole covid thing just goes away and as a result there is more patience, love and appreciation for all.

Or better yet, have Jane Horrocks start out as Alice, then have Joanna, Jennifer, and ending on Julia commenting on the unwise usage of absinthe. All the while Dawn's Vicar keeps looking at the Alice character, all actors dressed in something like Alice wore at one time; Jane as basic Alice, Joanna in a DALEK outfit, Jennifer as a Teletubby, and Julia in the stunning wedding dress...and flashing tiara, looking confused at the assortment of Alices, rubbing her eyes, trying to maintain a focus in the conversation, commenting she needs more sleep, or wonders if the flour for the rye bread Letitia made for the church function had mold. just a thought
Alice was his wife, so he may find comfort in sitting in what was her usual spot as a connection to his late wife. After my grandfather died, my grandmother started sitting where he usually sat at the dining table and in the living room.
My father used to tell that first joke about the toaster 60 years ago. Even as a child I knew what it meant. But, having told it myself many times since, I know there is a huge number of people who are as thick as Hugo
