Wonderful time watching SAFC for those memorable 3/4years and oh boy Nicky Sumerbee new how to cross a ball ,one side him and other side magic!Johnson👍
I'm from Romania. Sadly ,today the managers don't let players express themselves on the pitch They have to be like chess pieces following the manager directives.
But you have to recognize the fact that back then, anyone who could score 30 goals a season was regarded as a freak, penalties or not. Messi and Ronaldo-type statistics changed people’s perception and it’s never been the same since. Scoring more than 20 a season now is still very good for a striker.
special mention for Niall Quinn who played a big part in a lot of those goals.
Absolute sunderland legend. Everything he touched that season, turned to solid gold.
A legend of the game whose story is not told enough
Kev was a world class player, he played absolutely brilliant for sunderland and west brom.

Pep has become the meta for “new age” managers and it’s kinda sad. I want to see a variety of different play-styles too.
Half of the goals were penalties... the other half were against Bradford City.
And in reality - six were pens and two (a whopping 6.6%) were against Bradford.
