Today I watched a video on the dreadful state of Newport today (socially and structurally). Your video really brings it home to me how much the city has been allowed to decline. Liveried buses? Wonderful. Thank you.
❤️ Newport Still , up there every month for my haircut in Razors and good Caribbean food . I used to love going to the (in shops) back in the 90s buying the Spliffy & Eclipse clothes for the Raves , great times
Lovely trip down memory lane. Especially enjoyed seeing the inside of old Kingsway, the Octopus Bridge and the prefabs. A few old place names there which have long disappeared (and not for the better). Thanks for sharing.
And, I had the flat that you can see to the left of the picture, forgot about that, was a disaster. 16 n my mum had enough of me n got me the flat. Think it was £50 a week. Shit hole 😂
I actually feel sad watching this, i remember Newport as a kid and it was so much nicer. Why have the people in charge let it get so bad. 😢 it doesn't feel like the place i grew up in anymore..i don't recognise the faces or some of the culture 😔
When Newport was an amazing vibrant place now it’s just degraded and full of immigrants and homeless people and empty shops well done the government amazing job wish I could go back to the 80s early nineties great times
The Hornblower got shown twice 😊 Let's be honest, anything built in the last 100 years has detracted from what was there before. Wales is in terminal decline, and when Rishi Sunak boasts about taking funding from areas like Newport to fund affluent areas in middle England, the fact that Wales doesn't vote independence, it's their choice. I'm off to Ireland, at least the small businesses are still open there
really miss these times.

A fond trip down memory lane
Some of the changes in Newport have been change for changes' sake. Was boss in the 90s.
nice video your drone work is actually really cool
What a wonderful place newport used to be every body new every body
Now everybody old and the young have to fund their pensions
Such a shame.
Handyland down Pill,,,early 60's it was the Plaza cinema ! sixpence on Saturday mornings for kids show !
Used to be a nice place to go shopping years ago wouldn’t fancy it now
Blast from the past how much Newport has changed over the years
Yes, it transformed from being a bit of a dump to a complete dump. Don't be too down, it's a general trend in most towns and cities in the UK.
So cool mate
I used to live near the Odeon at Clarence Place
And later off Caerleon Road opposite the Vic 😁
Some great memories
Rob buss is a legend
Oi buss how’s people plus 😊
Awesome.
Off all the pictures online I NEVER see pictures of the InShops in the 90’s. It’s like it never existed. Such a shame.
Where were the inshops?
Pictures (0:48) of the RGH taken from no.31 cardiff road, could be 33 but I lived at 35 for 28 years from about 88 😊.
And, I had the flat that you can see to the left of the picture, forgot about that, was a disaster. 16 n my mum had enough of me n got me the flat. Think it was £50 a week. Shit hole 😂

What’s the music in this video?
Jazz It Up (feat. Lolita Dark) by S.O.S. Brigade Quartet
Just seeing Duffryn school again makes me feel nauseous, god I despised that place
Because your was bullied
And the labour council turned it into wasteland.
And they still vote for them!
They finally got rid of 'Alderman' Fouweather though.
