    I still have the Flintstone movie carved glass set. They look more like cups, we occasionally use them for drinking Coca Cola.

      I tool think they are more the size of cups. Even some of the earliest promotional glasses, the Garfield ones, where that size too. So glad you still have those. Thanks for watching.

    My Cousin, Marty, cut his hand, a long line, after a Smurf glass cracked while he was washing the dishes. As kids we could stick our hands inside to wash, and it cracked while his hand was in the glass.

    My grandfather and I would read the BC comics together.
    When I found the promotional glass with Wiley on it, I had to get it for him.
    He told me it was the best gift he ever received.
    As an ‘adult’, I got it back after his passing, but I’ll never forget him or us bonded over the BC comics.

      That is an awesome story. BC was my one of my favorite strips. I think they had a Thanksgiving TV special, too. It was nice they got some love with the glasses. Thank you for sharing.

      Yes. They had a Thanksgiving and a Christmas special. Both of which I own on VHS, and both of which my sister and I make it a yearly tradition to watch.

    I still have all The Great Muppet Caper glasses. I'm told they're poisonous now. I'm surprised I don't have cancer yet.

    I have a set of Smurfs glasses packed away in storage. We only had one Smurf glass when I was a kit but it was my absolute favorite!

      I can tell...and that is AMAZING. Glad you're taking care of them. But I am sure that one glass was very special. Thanks for sharing...and watching.

    In our house we had less promo glasses from fast food places, but still promo glasses! We had the Coke tumblers as well as the inverted UnCola glasses for 7Up. My brother and I both ordered Mr Peanut plastic mugs from Planter's and we also had these all glass Walt Disney mugs with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck! It's later as an adult I've gotten or at least have seen old promo things in thrift stores like A&W Root Beer mugs (I have 2)! I've also found this set of plastic McDonald's food trays with several of the original McDonald Land characters on them (except the clown) in a batch I found!

      There were so many Coke tumblers, right? I do remember the ones for 7UP. Yeah, you still had one heck of collection of your own.

    I would’ve loved the Flintstone kids glasses! We grew up with the Flintstone Movie Bone China glasses and then shortly after the Batman Forever glasses ( i still have Batman Forever glasses😂)

      As long as they aren't the plastic ones...you're okay in my book. There were a handful of different Flintstone glasses. YOu can find them somewhere.

    I had the Beaky Buzzard (73) (my cousins had the whole Looney Tunes set), Grimace (77), a couple of the A&W bear hugging the glass, E.T. With the stuffed animals, and the RotJ Jabba and Sarlacc (Luke and Han). Welch’s used to put cartoon characters on their jelly jars as well!

    • @GENXPERIENCE

    @SCG99 Před 8 měsíci +1

    I feel like some of those were Jelly jars or at least a few of them like the Bugs Bunny and all may have been. I recall having those and they were from Welch grape jelly I think.

    • @GENXPERIENCE
      @GENXPERIENCE  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Hmmm, I am going to have to research that as jelly jars are vaguely familiar, but I did not think I featured any in the show. That would be interesting on their own.

    King Kong glasses were not Arby’s. It was Burger Chef.

  • @BaconMcShig
    @BaconMcShig Před rokem

    I'd have to imagine these were a logistical nightmare, just think how many whole cartons full of broken glasses had to be thrown out from all these places over the years because of a clumsy employee or a delivery guy tossing boxes around. Literal tons worth. Also sure plenty of customers dropped their glass in the store after buying one, which introduces the liability of someone in your store getting cut on an errant piece of broken glass... As much as I'd like to see them continue, I can completely understand why stores decided they just weren't worth the headache.
    Arby's did a variety of regional NFL ones around 2013, with a little half football design molded into the bottom of the glass. Seems like that was the last, last gasp of fast food glassware.

    • @GENXPERIENCE
      @GENXPERIENCE  Před rokem

      Interesting about those NFL ones in 2013. You're right, probably a last grasp attempt. Yeah, we won't see the likes of this again anytime soon. Thanks for watching.

    over the years, i have lost most everything i ever owned, but i still have my favorite garfield glass mug and a couple of the disney plastic glasses, including the snow white one.
    weirdly, the paint on garfield still looks new, altho the disney cups have started to chip and fade.
    something to be said for lead, i guess. ☺️
