He LITERALLY doesn´t do shit for his patient,he is off eating and shit and just walks in at the end to just casually plant a few seeds of insecurity and sexual confusion to get Ted to come back. Fucking brutal,haahaha...
I like how Richard Jenkins is just not paying attention whatsoever until he hears "rest area". Just one of the small funny scenes that made up this hilarious comedy.
No lol I'm an aspiring therapist and I'm generally interested in people's lives. I've always found interest in things others might find boring but that's what it takes!
He only perks up and listens when “rest area “is mentioned 😂 lol after being gone, eating his entire session… HAHA Love Richard Jenkins in every role .. Fantastic actor … ❤
One of the best actors around. Sadly often relegated to minor or supporting roles but one who brings the same if not a greater level presence, be it comedic or otherwise, as the bigger names he shares the movie with. An actor who often provides me with moments I'll find yourself putting the entire movie on just to see, despite often only having one or two to work with. I genuinely see him as the protagonist, let alone the unsung hero and audience surrogate in Stepbrothers. I love how, despite playing a minor role, he's crucial in allowing the mission the entire movie is based around to proceed in Kong: Skull Island. I empathise and sympathise with and love him as the professor who never knew what he had until he didn't in Liberal Arts. I watched Cabin in the Woods specifically because I knew he had again, a very important role, despite sadly acknowledging it wouldn't be one with the most amount of screen time. It's no different when I watch this movie despite it having lightening in a bottle comedic performances like Matt Dillon as Pat Healy and still this man finds the ability to steal the show with the minute amount of time he's got to work with. Bless Richard Jenkins.
Hard to pick the best between this, the interrogation, Matt Dillon's Mongo story, or Dillon having the scripted phone call with his friend when he knows Mary is listening
When you watch Step Brothers, as funny as Will Ferrell and John C Reilly are in it, the funniest person in the movie is Richard Jenkins. I think it may be the greatest comedy ever made, at least top 5. He improvised the whole "dinosaur" scene at the end at the Catalina Wine Mixer. And watch when they announce to the family on Christmas that they are breaking up. First, he keeps rubbing his neck like he is still sore from falling down the stairs. Then he erupts with the classic, "Oh, it's absolutely 150% your FAULT"!! rant. He is a legend.
This scene is hilarious! Can’t stop laughing 😂😂! The therapy Dr does not care.... makes himself a plate! Lol one of the funniest scenes! 😂😂 He looks at his watch lol
Any psychologist if they could XD this scene is a master piece... as soon as he joins back with the paper towel on his neck, licking his fingers and still chewing ... feels like when i was working at a call center back in 2009 and i was rushing to eat, it's literally that. Starving and not being able to have a 30 minute break to have lunch, and as soon as you stopped eating and still chewing, u had a new call, so annoying hahaha
Do you believe that movies portray the world true to real life? Do you believe in Santa? Do you believe that there's a sponge under the sea who cooks burgers with an annoying laugh?
suger night Well its more of a lead up to a future scene BC Stiller actually does stumble across a "rest area" But he either said it BC he's gay (and goes there) or he's anti-gay and calling out Stiller, hence his stare at him
I love how he’s been out the entire time but yet when he comes back for the last 30 seconds he’s like “when will this eeeend.” So good lol
This performance alone by Mr. Jenkins deserves an Oscar.
and now he's playing Dahmer's father wowza
Richard Jenkins rocks every role he plays.
Me, Myself and Irene and Step Brothers are his best.
incredibly underrated
@@frankfurlacker5219 Intolerable Cruelty as well
Agreed. Nailed his serious role in Absolute Power
Six Feet Under..... anybody?

Christopher Jay he’s sick of hearing the same thing from him over and over and over again.
@@kenc5999probably a good reason he still in therapy 😂
Your grasp of the obvious is so powerful!

That little laugh at the end. Hahahaha
The theatre was roaring with laughter at this movie like I've never heard before or since. I've never laughed so hard at a film either.
“We’ll delve into that next week” 😂
One of the all-time great lines! Lol
I'm dying.
It wasn't until he said "rest area" 😂😂
That changed everything
LOL 🤣
The look on his face after he hears ‘rest area.’ Lol
FUNNIEST SCENE EVER.....Jenkins plays these roles masterfully.
How every psychologist feels really
And that's why i changed my career from psychology to theater

Richard Jenkins is underrated.
That double take he makes when he mentions the restrooms is great. Haha
Richard Jenkins. Underrated comedic actor
that freaking napkin loooooool
Richard Jenkins is in this movie for a minute and a half and he kills it. It's one of the funniest scenes in the movie.
He only perks up and listens when “rest area “is mentioned 😂 lol after being gone, eating his entire session… HAHA Love Richard Jenkins in every role .. Fantastic actor … ❤
...the laugh at the end is fantastic!
I love the "delve in" gesture that he can't even see! 🤣🤣
And the laugh

The way he looks at his watch takes me out every time 😂
And then the scene when the cops come and raid the rest area later in the movie makes me laugh for hours 🤣😂🤣
He's tired of hearing about Mary.
Such a beautiful scene. Almost silent comedy. Jenkins nails it. And then the cold blooded selfishness of that rest area nonsense. How utterly cynical.
It wasn't selfish, it was a warning that Ted did not Heed.
Agreed, he just wanted to explore repressed homosexuality in a client and zeroed in on Ted.
This is the funniest scene in the whole movie.
Hard to pick the best between this, the interrogation, Matt Dillon's Mongo story, or Dillon having the scripted phone call with his friend when he knows Mary is listening

'This is so scary.'
'Did I hear a drill? Dale! DALE! NO POWER TOOLS.'
Fun fact about ‘Step Brothers’ Richard Jenkins when he was a young man in Illinois worked for John C. Reilly’s father.
He was equally great in Dick and Jane.
I just love EVERYTHING Ben Stiller does ! He is the BEST ! Thanks for this !
That guy cracks me up to Death. The Best Douche Psychologist.
Richard Jenkins is a national treasure, he’s great in EVERYTHING! How fantastic was he in the recent Dahmer series?
my wife just had her first day as a therapist and I showed her this scene and asked if this was her today haaha
Is there even such a thing where a therapist sits behind their patient during a session? 🤣
Freudian psychoanalysis.
Omg !!!! Lmao .....this whole scene is great comedy Gold 👍 i dont even know where ta start 😂😂😂😂👍

fantastic scene
I lose it every time when he says “that’s very ... interesting.”
Richard Jenkins is the Strother Martin of my generation...just a genuinely talented Actor.
"We will deeeeelve into that next week". The added hand gesture cracks me up haha.
I love Ted’s genuine confusion
"for many, many, many gay men", Richard Jenkins face, masterpiece on this scene.
You’re never going to see a movie like this again
So true. Very unfortunate...

This is more true than you can imagine…
My shrink used to do that.

Mr Jenkins hahaha at the end is hilarious.
Coakley always kills in scenes. Hilarious man.

"thats very interesting."
They acted in another funny movie.. Flirting With Disaster. Jenkins is hilarious in that movie.
I love how his suddenly becomes interested when Stiller talks about rest areas.
1:22 when the crack works...
That's very interesting lol
Underrated, funny scene.
Looks at his watch ⌚️ 😅
That laugh at the end holy shit hahaha
The shrink leaving in the middle of a story is so specific I’m guessing it had to have happened to someone. 😂
He doesn't talk for the entire hour session.....and then pipes up about the rest areas 😂

imdb tells Jenkins was uncredited for this scene?
Criminal. He’s awesome.
It was this scene that convinced me to never go to a therapist. You can get better help on Reddit.

I can't tell you how much Hollywood screws up when it comes to therapy. They still think we do Freudian-style psychoanalysis from the 1950s
Sells the next session with a Freudian theory

Ben should have kept his S.A.M teeth... They were goofy lookin', ergo: Funny.
Just like Daddy’s teeth. Good ol’ Jerry Stiller/Frank Costanza/Arthur Spooner
Anybody know what chair that is Richard is setting in.
Till this day i still dont get why he said that . what was the point . classic scene
suger night Well its more of a lead up to a future scene BC Stiller actually does stumble across a "rest area" But he either said it BC he's gay (and goes there) or he's anti-gay and calling out Stiller, hence his stare at him
Yea, he's probably gay himself is my guess
He said it to trigger more insecurities in Ted so he would doubt himself more, and also to keep him coming back for more "therapy"
It was funny because it had nothing to do with Ben's story... Ben was trying to figure out the correlation but was lost.
He simply said it cuz Ted Brought rest areas up, it was also a warning.
It's pseudo science anyway so listening doesn't matter.
Thanks for everything! Here’s a little something for you: czcams.com/video/qDeVxNat4Hs/video.html
The way he perks up when Ted mentions the roadside rest stop😂
