Everybody should watch "The Visitor" (2008), which gave him his first leading role and his first Oscar nod. Great movie.
In that year, he was competing against Brad Pitt in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, Frank Langella in "Frost / Nixon” and Mickey Rourke in “The Wrestler”. All of them were defeated by Sean Penn in "Milk”

Jenkins performance as Lionel Dahmer was absolutely phenomenal
He plays each character with such care that you can forget his past roles. Was so good in Six Feet Under. Very underrated, similar to Ted Levine and Gary Oldman.

I love Richard Jenkins as Steven Frost in Berlin Station, one of my favorite series and I am happy that it was renewed for a third season.

He's really good and I think it's one of the best role he got so far in Netflix's Dahmer, playing as Lionel Dahmer. Also I kind of recognized him too from the movie "Let Me In" he's the killer guy who hunted and drained blood from his victims for his vampire companion-childhood-lover played by Chloe Moretz, he's really good in there too.
